SmallRig 2918 The formfitting Light Camera Cage from SmallRig protects and offers accessory mounting for your Sony a7 III, a7R III, or a9 camera. The durable aluminum cage maintains open access to the camera's controls and features a variety of mounting options. It features multiple 1/4"-20 threads and ARRI-style 3/8"-16 anti-twist mounts for attaching accessories. There are multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod mounting threads on the bottom to add an optional quick release plate or mount onto a tripod. The camera mounts onto the cage using a 1/4"-20 screw, as well as an M2.5 screw on the side to prevent twisting, and rubber padding on the base also helps prevent twisting and scratching. This is actually a lightweight product. Nice fit, nice design.
When I took apart the cage to put my camera in it, the head of two screws sheered. Now the cage has a tiny play in it, which will lead to vibration and a rattling sound. Pretty much a good looking piece of garbage now. If only the screws were better material.
Really, in this case, Light doesn't mean Lite. This is still a full cage version, with a lot better price for value. You still have enough mounting point, as well as protection. More than enough for you to rig it up.
It fits the Sony A7R III perfectly, I will buy the handle with the record button for my Sony camera in the near future. Thank you for selling all the great products.
Excellent product, lightweight, well made of quality materials to very close tolerances. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add ARCA rails like on their L-bracket.
