I desperately want to give this machine 5 stars. The aesthetics and ease of use; I would give a solid 5 however I believe the basket only pours the equivalent to a single shot. Here in New Zealand a standard shot is a double - so I wished there was a way to further customise. With that said, I've accommodated this shortcoming by doing two short espresso shots.As the manual suggests, to get a hot coffee, I recommend pre-heating the mug with boiling water. The other reason I've rated this a 4-stars is because the state of the box was disgraceful when the item was delivered. I was genuinely surprised that the machine wasn't damaged because it looked like the fork of a forklift went right through the top of it..... not necessarily PoK's fault but it was still my ... Great design foolproof coffee, retro style design but very modern delivery of a perfect espresso every time. Self cleaning and no mess with internal grinder. Highly recommended

It’s a beautiful machine but prone to issues. Get the extended home care warranty if you do choose to purchase this model. It may be right for you if you greatly value aesthetics and it’s very easy to use. But the regular faults and defects means overall I can only give it 3 stars at most.
I bought this from David Jones as I did all my smeg appliances It has never worked. Has put me off smeg forever. Far too temperamental. Such a disappointment. Up to now always bought smeg
