Smeg MTK60X34 60cm Microwave Trim Kit

I bought and installed the Smeg trim kit. There was noting wrong with the trim but the pieces that the microwave sit on had been folded backwards so the holes required were not in the correct locations and I had to drill new holes through the metal. Also the instructions and jig for installing the latches to the cabinet were also wrong. They did not allow for the thickness of the trim so they actually need to be installed about 22mm further into the cabinet than the jig sets up (when it is fluh to the front of the cabinet as per the instructions).

Please refer to my unanswered email regarding the trim kit. The right hand base plate is pressed in reverse so the front mounting hole ends up at the rear. An additional hole needs to be drilled to enable installation. Once this relatively easy fix is done the kit seems to be OK. This is not a new issue as a quick google search identified this same issue in 2018.

I only had to purchase this because the new equivalent Smeg microwave is a different size.The new trim kit costs more than the microwave itself and it’s not even as good a quality as the previous one.The fastening clips are had to install and easily bent.
