Retro finishes It s not only the soft, sinuous lines that hark back to the 1950s, but also the vibrant range of colour finishes. You have the choice of gentle pastels like green and blue, bolder hues like red and black, and traditional finishes such as silver and cream. No matter your decision, this stand mixer will live on your benchtop as a cult object. 10 variable speeds With 10 variable speeds, this stand mixer offers far more versatility than your own two hands. Whether you re aerating cream or mixing a heavy cookie dough, you can calibrate the motor to deliver the power required. The speed is controlled from the top of the unit for ergonomic convenience. Planetary mixing action Enjoy comprehensive mixing with a bowl that remains stationary and a beater that moves evenly around the sides. This method works well with heavy doughs and it helps you work faster because you don t have to intervene to manually scrape food into the centre of the bowl. Practical attachments The three distinct mixer attachments will make light work of any baking endeavour. Use the wire whisk to mix egg whites, or to craft your own creamy mayonnaise. The dough hook will help to produce a fine cookie mixture or to knead a pizza base, and the flat beater is your reliable allrounder.

Stunning design, outstanding quality, typical of the Smeg brand, this mixer is incredibly sleek, easy to use and to clean. The mixer itself is quiet but powerful and I like that the glass bowl has a handle, making it easy to pour out your dough/batter etc. The only negative is it is difficult to scrape down the bowl (which is necessary) during mixing. I’ve found I have had to stop the mixer, lift the beater away from the bowl, scrape the sides of the bowl and then continue to mix. Only a minor negative. Mixing sourdough has become a dream with the glass bowl and dough hook, not to mention super easy biscuit dough that leaves an easy clean up. I am so happy with this purchase.

I brought this a couple of years ago. The beater and whisk work well but the head jumps up and down when using the dough hook. This causes the mixer to jump along the bench top. I have to place it against something solid so it doesn't jump itself off the bench.

Great mixer

A great stand up mixer at a reasonable price. Only downer and the reason why it didnt get 5 stars, is because it doesnt reach the sides

Love my new Smeg stand mixer. If ImBeing picky, the beaters do not reach the bowl completely and when you do not have a lot of ingredients in bowl it doesnt mix well. This isnt a big issue but would have been better if designed with this in mind.

Looks great / performance poor
24 February 2022

This lasted 2 days before I took it back. The motor was making the strangest noise & its quite possibly the least practical design of mixer Ive ever used. Changing the tool head is difficult & for a top end product I do not expect to have to scrap round the bowl to mix the ingredients after it has supposedly mixed. I definitely wouldnt recommend.

Needs practical design improvements

The most disappointing points of this machine are: 1. The paddle attachment does not scrape completely what is at the bottom and the sides of the bowl. I have to regularly stop the machine and scrape down with a spatula to ensure the batter/frosting is combined well. What a complete waste of my time! After taking a while to compare between my other-brand bowl and the Smeg bowl, I found the other-brand bowl's design was a bit narrower, which enabled the paddle to reach the inside walls of the bowl better, and scrape through the entire mixture. 2. A reasonable amount of volume is required to fill the bowl so that the paddle/whisk can reach the contents. Even 5 egg yolks in the bowl did not suffice - and in the end I had to resort to using my own hand to whisk the egg ... MoreThe most disappointing points of this machine are: 1. I get that I can't expect the bowl to whisk say 1 egg white, but after testing - I needed a minimum of 4 egg whites to get something going. This point applies to all the 3 attachments - dough hook, whisk, and paddle. 3. Dough hook attachment can only mix together the bread dough if you start off by stirring it manually. I cannot simply turn on the machine and have it mix, and subsequently knead my bread dough. I had to use a spatula to mix my dough ingredients for a couple of minutes before starting the machine.

Very HAPPY with my SMEG Mixer. I checked out the KitchenAid product but preferred the larger bowl size of the SMEG. Mixing is smooth with all graduated speeds offering positive nuances. This special was also pretty terrific. I waited for the additional slicer/grater and grinder attachments added as a BONUS. The Good Guys in Narre Warren gave me an even better than advertised price with friendly service.I have made pastry, fillings, pizza bread, bread, sauces and cakes. ALL Fantastic. Only minor note is when using a SMALL amount of ingredients, you will have to stop, push down ingredients, then mix a few times for a thorough mix. Was also pleased that the SMEG has many available attachments too. RECOMMEND. Enjoy!

Stylish

I purchased for dough hook. Works well with heavy batters/mixes but I noticed that lighter ones were not mixed properly. Apparently there is another part that has silicone and scrapes the sides of the bowl. This is out of stock and not part of package.

Timeless Style

I had been wanting a stand mixer after months of suffering sore arms and shoulders from mixing the old fashioned way and finally found an opportunity to pick up the Smeg.It was important for me to get something super stylish as this is an appliance which would sit out on my kitchen bench for everyone to see. It was also equally important to find something functional - which for me is defined as durable, powerful and could be used in multiple ways. The Smeg ticked all these boxes with its die-cast aluminium body, 800W motor and an array of attachments which practical and functional, not just cool to have but sit in a drawer collecting dust. The product itself works beautifully, although slightly limited by the constraints of any stand mixer (eg doesn’t always ... MoreI had been wanting a stand mixer after months of suffering sore arms and shoulders from mixing the old fashioned way and finally found an opportunity to pick up the Smeg.It was important for me to get something super stylish as this is an appliance which would sit out on my kitchen bench for everyone to see. I’m yet to purchase their patented flex edge beater which would likely eliminate some of these issues for me but otherwise am extremely happy with the purchase. I’ve been able to bake lots of delicious goods in big batches with ease and am really happy with my decision to buy into the Smeg family, and can’t wait to buy some other matching small appliances.
