There is a plastic cover around the bottom of the bottle which has a small hole in it. When you put the bottles in the dishwasher this hole fills the plastic cover with dirty dishwashing water which leaves a horrible film of dirty dishwater and debris in the bottom of the bottle. Additionally when you take the bottle out of the dishwasher and turn it upright the excess water spills out all over the place. There must be a better design for these because it's a great idea, just not practical in it's current form. I will commend SodaStream Customer Service who when I complained about this issue to them they replaced the bottles and then refunded me when it happened with the 2nd set I got, which I think is great service.

Dishwasher-safe bottles are so much better than using the bottle brush every time I need to wash my sparkling water bottles. I go through quite a few, so these are reasonably priced and a small price to pay to be able to have hygienic water bottles each morning. White goes with anything, and I prefer this shape to the ‘boxier’ iterations.
