Great fun, for awesome value for money, I would give this a solid 8.5 out of ten. My only objections are that there are many good games it skips such as Toejam and Earl and the old Street Fighter games. But still, the game selection is mostly very excellent. Amazing collection of retro games. If like me, you were there at the time when these games were new then this is a truly wonderful nostalgic trip down memory lane. I remember playing some of these games on a small portable TV, now they look great in HD on my 42 inch set. You can change the aspect ratio to fill the screen if you wish, but why would you? there is a nice border to fill your screen, and for me these games are best played in their original format. The unlockable interviews even though in Japanese are still interesting, there is more than enough here to keep me going for months. It's a bonus to have the save feature too. Halo Re-envisioned: Same Great Game + Eye Candy = Recipe of Awesomeness!
6 November 2012

What is there not to love about this game? From being able to wield a pistol that gives Thors hammer a run for its money to fish-tailing like a lunatic in the good ol Warthog, this game captures everything that we Halo fans loved about Halo: Combat Evolved (CE). I picked this game up to fill that Halo: CE shaped hole in my heart that missed playing the game that was such an entertainment staple for me in years past. Halo: CE Anniversary is the same exact game as the original Halo except that it is presented to us with stunning new graphics and extra goodies to be found in-game, such as skulls that alter gameplay when activated (unlimited ammo anyone?) and terminals that gives new insight (in the form of videos) into events that transpire prior to and during the ... MoreWhat is there not to love about this game? Achievements are a nice touch as well, as some of them are quite fun to obtain! With the new graphics, youll be sure to appreciate the crisp new details on all of your favorite weaponry as you traverse the visually stunning Covenant and Flood filled environments of the Halo ring. If you dont care about the new graphics and extras or just wish to experience some sweet nostalgia, the game allows you to switch from the new graphics to the original graphics and vice-versa by simply pressing the select button on your Xbox 360 controller. Is that cool or what? If you are hoping to be able to do battle once more in multiplayer on iconic maps like Blood Gulch or Sidewinder, Im sorry to say that the original Halo multiplayer has been replaced with the multiplayer of Halo Reach. Six maps have been re-envisioned for the Halo Reach multiplayer, but I would have preferred to have been able to experience the good times of the original multiplayer even if it were only possible for offline play. Lets be honest, who doesnt miss Halo LAN parties? While I do have my complaints with the multiplayer aspect of the game, Im sure 343 Industries has their reasons for not bringing it back and the fact that it is not available does not bother me enough to change my opinion of how wonderful this revived game is. Believe me, Halo: Combat Evolved is a game you want in your collection. I feel it matches any new release games entertainment wise and were talking about a game that was first brought to market in 2001! The fact that Halo: Combat Evolved has now had two very successful separate releases should be a testament to you purchasing this game! Lock n load, Spartan!

I missed this
25 January 2023

This game brings back all the nostalgia of my first Genisis console. I begged for a Genesis for Christmas for 3 years before my parents gave in! Playing Sonic brought me right back to my parent's living room when I was 13. Game is in great condition!

It's great...when I get to play it
17 September 2015

I got this disk for myself because I was feeling nostalgic about some of the games from my youth and wanted a chance to try some of the gems I wasn't able to afford (or find) back in the day. So far I've been having a great time with Ecco: The Dolphin and Shining In The Darkness, the only problem is my son has discovered the disk and abandoned Steam in favor of the Xbox. So I don't get to play it much at all until he heads to bed. This isn't a bad thing, but it did surprise me that he would leave Arkham City in favor of games that came out before he was born. Of course, not every game is a winner. A couple of them feel more like filler than a good classic game, but on the whole it was well worth the money and a lot cheaper than buying them piece meal off Steam. Most of the games are very similar to each other.
11 December 2016

The majority of the games are variations of character walks to the right.. use one button for attack, and one for jump. There are a few classics that follow this format and are somewhat worthwhile, such as Altered Beast and the Golden Axe games. There are also a couple tetris knock-offs, and more Sonic games than I need. I was hoping there'd be more variety. Also, the games are not full screen! There's an illustrated border for each game. If you have a small television, better sit close to the screen. If you want a better disk with lots of games, try Midway Arcade.. lots more variety on that one.. Defender, Joust, Gauntlet, Sinistar, Xenophobe, Total Carnage, and lots more.

Still holds up
30 December 2022

I bought ultimate genesis collection as a stocking stuffer for my kids. And many of these games have stood the test of time. My kids are playing this on their old 360 instead of the many ps4 games we have. I loved these games when they were new! 20 years later and they are still fun for me and my kids. These games still hold up!

This ground-breaking game has aged VERY well.
20 December 2018

This game is epic. It's fun enough to play for hours on end, but it's simple enough to jump on and knock out a couple events in about 15 minutes. It has aged very well, and it still looks and sounds great, especially if playing on a PS3 that is backwards compatible. There are ton of cars and a ton of events, and even if you reach 100% completion, you can always just start over or keep trying to beat your old records. I love the arcade feel and the epic, over-the-top action. This is one of my favorite games of all time.

Worth the price
3 March 2015

I had a Genesis back in the day, and loved it. But after playing the newer gen game consoles, the Genesis was forgotten, and sent off to donation. It was kinda cool playing these games again, and seeing how far games have come since the Sega days. As for this version for ps3, I have a few issues, but they aren't major. The games take a longer time to load each time, and don't play the same on ps3 controllers (vs the original Genesis controllers). Also, I would have liked to have seen more games like Ghouls and Ghosts, and Road Rash. But for the price, its a good deal. Its still fun to pop this disk in and reminisce. Im glad to have it as part of my collection!
