This is one of the best bang for the buck Mirrorless cameras on the market. A $2k (cheaper with sales right now) camera that packs a large majority of abilities $4k+ cameras have. Even current ones coming out. Only thing it may lack, but really at this point doesn't matter is MP. 24MP is great, really not many people Pro or Amature alike will need more. The rest of the abilities of the camera are insane for the price. Even compared to some of the new Medium Format Mirrorless cameras that just came out and are $5k but have worse abilities then this camera. Only Con I can think of is really not the cameras fault directly. But more that it's a Sony product so things like Extra Lens are going to be Expensive for it. Been looking to go full frame and mirrorless for sometime as I had had my old cropped sensor DSLR for about 9-10 years. All the write ups on this full frame mirrorless camera are good and as it is an ‘old’ model you can get at reasonable price. The reviews are correct, it is a great camera althoughI haven’t taken many shots yet, around 50, but it does take a great photo.Having moved from a different manufacturer to Sony it still feels a bit strange. I bought this as an insurance replacement for my damaged A72 and it betters the A72 in just about every respect. The larger grip makes handling the camera easier and the simplified button layout on the rear is welcome. The ability to move the focus point when using spot focusing is enabled full time on the A73 (it needed to be selected each time on the 2) which is a great improvement, though I'm still getting to grips with the focus point selector joystick. Being able to 'tie' the spot meter to the focus point is also really useful. The action of the Exposure Compensation button has been stiffened so it is less prone to moving accidentally and the front and rear selector wheels are more prominent and so easier to find when using the viewfinder. Being able to 'tie' the spot meter to the focus point is also really useful. The action of the Exposure Compensation button has been stiffened so it is less prone to moving accidentally and the front and rear selector wheels are more prominent and so easier to find when using the viewfinder. The shutter sound is much quieter than on the M2 and the ability to go to silent shooting has been useful for wildlife work. The longer battery life is an absolute godsend and I have not felt the need to take a spare battery with me at all so far. The eyecup is more ergonomic too and doesn't keep detaching from the viewfinder, as it did on the M2. Image quality is superb and anecdotally, I would rate it as better then the M2. Downsides? The menu system is still quite complex but once set up to your liking, it isn't necessary to go there too often unless you like to tweak a lot - in which case, familiarity would undoubtedly be achieved soon enough. Charging from a computer now takes forever so the mains unit has to be used - this would have been better with a longer cable so the camera doesn't have to sit on the floor during charging; I got round this by swapping the lead for a longer one but feel one of adequate length should really be supplied at this price point. Images below taken with a variety of lenses (24-105G, 70-200G, 90MacroG) though I shoot in RAW and process in Lightroom so not sure how helpful they are in demonstrating in camera image quality!
I love the Sony a7III. I shot with Nikon for years, always buying new equipment that I was only happy with for a short while, until focus issues started cropping up, again. Since I switched to Sony, I've been very happy with, especially, the consistency of in-focus shots. My percentage of keepers has gone way up, and the overall quality (sharpness and color rendition) are much more to my liking. I love the control I have with the ability to assign function buttons for situations I want quick control of, like switching from full frame to DX mode, or going to manual focus, or focus mode~~all programable to other buttons or other functions. I love seeing the photo the camera is going to take, so I can quickly assess exposure and make adjustments if I have time. While I ... MoreI love the Sony a7III. While I still have my first a7III with a Sony 24-105mm lens mounted, I bought this second Sony a7III to mount my new Sony 70-200mm f/2.8. I shoot in very dusty environments and try not to have to change lenses while out shooting.
I recently had the pleasure of using the Sony a7 III, and I must say it's an exceptional camera that truly lives up to the hype. As an avid photographer, I was looking for a versatile full-frame mirrorless camera, and the a7 III exceeded my expectations in every way. Image quality is outstanding, thanks to its 24.2-megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor. The camera delivers rich, detailed, and noise-free images, even in challenging lighting conditions. The dynamic range is remarkable, allowing me to capture both highlight and shadow details with excellent precision. Whether you're a portrait photographer, a landscape enthusiast, or someone who loves capturing high-quality videos, this camera delivers outstanding performance and image quality. I highly recommend the Sony a7 III to anyone seeking a powerful and reliable full-frame mirrorless camera.
Where can I begin? 5 years after the release of this revolutionary camera and it is still the most recommend entry level/prosumer full frame body of any system, and for good reason. I first started shooting on the Sony ZVE10 about a year ago and decided to make the leap to the next level without breaking the bank on the newer releases of 2022 and beyond, and this met my needs without question. Even in 2023, I would personally recommend this to anyone who wants to take their photography and videography to new heights. It is phenomenal in low light conditions, takes stellar stills, and professional grade video with HLG picture profiles. Don't let the newer bodies convince you that this camera is anywhere near obsolete, because it isn't. Image quality has somewhat stagnated in the last few years, and there is absolutely no reason to think this camera won't last you another 5+ years. The A7iii is amazing, and you won't regret the purchase.
I’ve had this camera for about a year now & it’s a BEAST! I literally don’t put it down. These pro cameras are only worth it as long as u know what ur doing, bcus it is a huge learning curve. Even the kit lens that comes with it is amazing, but now I own MY Holy Trinity of lenses the Sony Gm 35mm f1.4, Sigma Art 85mm f1.4, & the Sigma 135mm f1.8 (eventually the Sony GM 70-200mm f2.8 OSSII) & once u get the big boy lenses u’ll realize how much of a workhorse this camera is! I’ve been doing events, portraits, full photoshoots, boudoir, Holiday, celebrity events & it’s been amazing! Everybody loves my work! I switched from a Nikon DSLR & I’m so happy I did! I’ll add some stills so u can see how good this lens is. I’m actually moving up to the Sony a7rIII now, but I’m ... MoreI’ve had this camera for about a year now & it’s a BEAST! Oh, the adventures we have been on together and the stories I've captured. This camera has been my baby for the past two years. My escape, my muse, my friend. I've been able to capture images and stories of my close friends, family, and clients along with preserving my own history. I bought this camera for school in 2019. When I first got it I started taking portraits of people on campus. I ended up getting into my first photo exhibition, won some awards later on in my second year, and even got a contract to work for my school. The build quality looks professional and the images have kept up with my work for two years now and still are running strong. The build quality looks professional and the images have kept up with my work for two years now and still are running strong. I love how I can break it down or build it up with mods like an extra battery pack, flash trigger, and full-out cage for video production. It works well on a gimbal because it's lightweight. I can throw it in my camera bag for travel and snap it on a 50mm or 35mm. I love the feel of the shutter button and the sound. I can also go into silent shooting mode with a push of a button. I've made prints on Epson printers and they look fantastic when printed with adobe RGB profile. If you are looking for a mirrorless system that is extremely versatile in both video and professional photography work this is the camera to get. My clients have been happy and I enjoyed having this camera as my partner for the past two years. Thank you, Sony for making a wonderful camera. The cons: The menu system takes a bit of a learning curve. The app is kinda slow and clunky. No flap to cover the sensor when swapping out the lens so dust can get in. Feels kinda small in hands without a grip. Needs a good lens for it to shine. I was getting chromatic aberrations with the low-end lens. The screen doesn't flip out and is hard to see on harsh sunny days.
