Sony ECM-W2BT Wireless Microphone
Take the hassle out of vlog and interview audio with the wireless ECM-W2BT. Because it's wireless, it allows stress-free shooting and delivers clear audio in diverse environments, without worrying about the direction of the mic or the distance from the mic. The ECM-W2BT can be positioned close to the speaker's mouth with a clip. The omnidirectional mic capsule also helps to pick up your voice clearly wherever it's coming from, so there's no need to worry about which way the unit is facing. Unlike conventional analogue audio transmission, you’ll never need to worry about cable signal interference. Just pair the ECM-W2BT with the compatible Sony camera with a Digital Audio Interface via a Multi Interface (MI) Shoe for clear, low-noise, all-digital audio. An attenuator function lets you easily adjust recording levels appropriately to match the source. Simply flip a switch to reduce the level of very loud sounds or amplify quiet ones, for optimised audio levels. The unit comes with a wind screen, allowing comfortable recording when shooting outside. Just attach the wind screen to the mic, and it effectively reduces wind noise as well as breath noise, for clear and stable sound even when shooting outdoors on a windy day.

Combining this microphone with a compatible Sony camera is both convenient and seamless. However, there are a couple flaws that resulted in me returning the item. First and most importantly, there is a noticeable hiss even when tinkering with the db sensitivity. It can be taken out in post but I prefer not to take that extra step. Second, the method of charging is still using micro USB inputs. To me, this just screams old and outdated. In an era when end users are quickly adopting USB-C as the standard, seeing this bothers me. Sure, it's a nit, but I am willing to give up the convenience of a 3.5mm cable-less interface and pay a little extra for the Rode Wireless Go II because there's just a lot more you get for the money. In short, I think it's a good mic and ... MoreCombining this microphone with a compatible Sony camera is both convenient and seamless. At first I didn't think it was working -- then I read the instructions! I appreciate the freedom of wireless and although I haven't used it very much yet, so far it's just right.

Imagine my utter horror and disgust when, upon opening this device, that it ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY COMPLETELY will not fit my Sony AX100--what was their top of the line prosumer camcorder for, what, 4-5 years, and which has a Multi-interface shoe. AX100: multi interface shoe This mike unit: Sony multi-interface shoe. Okay, not, multi-interface shoe V2.0 or new improved multi-interface shoe B or anything like that. The only reason I bought this was the advertised Sony multi-interface shoe. If this is such a shoe, then I'm the Queen of Sheba. I'm very upset as I've been sick for 3 months and FINALLY got around to opening this package up and trying it--and it is UTTTERLY useless! It won't even fit on the camera at all, and you'd have to rubber band it to the camera to even ... MoreImagine my utter horror and disgust when, upon opening this device, that it ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY COMPLETELY will not fit my Sony AX100--what was their top of the line prosumer camcorder for, what, 4-5 years, and which has a Multi-interface shoe. This Sony microphone system was easy to set to the first time and have great audio quality. Totally recommended to everyone!
A great, easy to use long range wireless lav mike and receiver. Great sound quality. And yes, it works on the A6000 in analog mode. Highly recommend!
It works perfectly in the hot shoe of my Sony FX3 and ZV-10 without cables. Direct mount via data flash hot shoe. I couldn't wait for this to be released so I purchased two. HIGHLY Suggest!
If you lose the windscreen, there is absolutely no way to get a replacement. Even from Sony. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. People lose things, especially something as small as the windscreen. How Sony cannot offer a replacement is beyond me. I can only use this system with a wired lav mic, which is not what I wanted to do ALL of the time. The microphone picks up to much wind noise without the windscreen. Also the audio has an interference sound with a wired lav mic connected (rode lav go) unless you use -20. I find -20 to be too quiet, and requires post audio editing which extends my editing time. I really wanted to like this mic, but the fact that I can't replace the windscreen to use the mic as indented is a huge problem. I can no longer ... MoreIf you lose the windscreen, there is absolutely no way to get a replacement. Even from Sony. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. I can no longer recommend this mic, even though it's a great mic to use IF you don't lose the windscreen. Or use a wired lav mic. (I don't have any other wired lav mics to test to see if it gets interference from other wired mics) Very disappointed with Sony.
There was no compatibility information listed for the Sony FX6 and neither the reseller or a Sony Ambassador could say if it was compatible. After purchasing one I can confirm: - Digital Mode does not work (reported as an Incompatible MI Device by the FX6) even though the FX6 has a digital MI Shoe. - Analogue Mode does work but has an unacceptable Hiss as soon as the Receiver is connected and powered on (even with the Mics OFF) - While I did not measure it, I did notice an Audio Delay. The design looked great with a good set of features, but it just does not work well with the FX6. I assume that the digital interface would deliver a clean signal but it is not supported by the FX6. It is also a disappointment that the compatibility list does not cover all cameras ... MoreThere was no compatibility information listed for the Sony FX6 and neither the reseller or a Sony Ambassador could say if it was compatible. Its small and compact, digital interface makes it easy to use without 3.5mm cables. Hiss background noise is persistent on all recordings Voice clipping even at -20db, you have to put the receiver away from your for it to not blown out Can not adjust the audio level at all on the transmitter A USB-C port instead of the micro-USB would've been better
The microphone portion is a bit awkward in size and shape so not easily concealed BUT the audio is pristine and the coverage is great. Works flawlessly hundreds of feet from receiver. Also really nice that you don't need another set of batteries - recharges using USB cables from computer or 5V wall plug.
