This is the fifth time I have purchased a used DSLR lens through B&H and, once again, I was blown away by the perfect condition and quality of the product. The lens was rated 9 condition, but when I opened the original box it was still packed as if the lens had never been removed from the box! Even the original warranty and inspection papers were inside as if they had never been touched. Upon further inspection it was obvious that the lens is in brand new condition.I am anxious to get out and try this beautiful piece of glass on my full frame a850. I have no doubt that it is going to be extraordinary. Thanks again to B&H for delivering a superior customer experience. I will be back for more!

Sharp, great color and bokeh. Almost no color fringing wide open. Has that Zeiss 3D look or snap. Great build quality and finish. Balance on camera fairly well when used with Sony a99. Metal lens shade. Heavy and a large. Focus is a tad slow on older Sony cameras on a77-a99 it has decent focus speed. Its fairly quiet for a screw-focus lens but a update to SSM drive would be better. I really enjoy using this lens. Its great for portraiture or shooting at low light events. Sharp, great color, and boken its my go to lens for shallow depth of field. Its a little long for some peoples taste but I love the images it can capture and try to find a photo to use it for. I did an existing light night shoot, and it had no trouble grabbing focus in low light conditions on an A99v SLT.It's a bit heavy, the focusing motor is not silent, but these are minor issues to me and don't even come into consideration when I grab this lens. There seem to be a few reports of the lens hood causing the front element to loosen, but I haven't experienced that.A 12mm extension ring allowed very close focus. This is a favorite lens. Be careful with portraits as it can compress faces depending upon the angle.

The specifications & reviews suggested this was a decent piece of glass & they’re right, I wasn’t disappointed! Using on my A77m2 gives 202.5mm, great to pull subjects & gives fabulously soft bokeh. Focussing is sharp & quick, at f1.8 it’s a fast lens so good for low light. Manual focus is smooth, focus lock button is useful. Yes, it’s heavy & I did deliberate before purchase but the lens is relatively short so fits comfortably close to the camera body & feels well weighted. Very pleased with this lens, it’s yummy, more Sony A mount lenses please!
This lens is a masterpiece. The optical design is astounding.Even though it is designed for A mount cameras, I purchased it for my FE cameras to use with an adapter.The combination of rendering, colors and bokeh along with sharpness is still unrivaled.Even the more modern Sony FE 135 GM, though optically close to perfect does not bring together all the elements that I mentioned.I used to use this lens with an adapter (LA-EA4) on my A7R II.No I use it with the LA-EA5 and the A7R IV. This new adapter has no transparent mirror and unlocks the Sonnar 135 1.8 ZA’s full potential.Buy it before it’s gone!By far one of the greatest lenses made!Highly recommended!!!
I've had this lens since 2014 and it is absolutely the best lens in my bag. I feel fortunate for being able to buy it when it first came out and that it is and A-Mount.Like everyone else says, it is big and heavy, but that's the tradeoff when you see the results. I have done Sacramental events at church without using a flash and the 135 performed admirably in the low light. Your pictures will look stunning with this lens. If you're a serious photographer then you need to try this as a rental. You will have it in your bag once you see what I'm talking about. No other lens has the great resolution that you will get. The Bokeh will stun you.
There are two sides to most exotic lenses. The technical side and the pictorial presentation. The T*135mm f1.8 ZA is one of those lenses that quite simply delivers. Just buy mounting it on your camera your images look different and more artisan than other photographers can normally produce. I have tested this lens both on the A99 and on the A99Mr2, it has just about the most refined mechanical auto-focus I have ever come across, it is quick and accurate to, but you do need to pay attention when shooting wide open to which bit of the image is actually in focus as it is only going to be a couple of mm deep! The out of focus areas are super smooth and the contrast against the in-focus areas produces amazing 3D affects. This is the BEST prime lens I have ever owned.Build Quality: 9/10It is an all-metal chassis and lens hood, it is quite hefty and as solid as a rock. This lens has the best build quality I've ever touched. I love waking up in the morning and touch it, the cold metal feel is amazing. I am also glad that Sony didn't put a rubber focus ring like in their zooms as these don't collect dust as much as those do. I only take a point off b/c it isn't weather sealed as it should be. This lens utilises the screw-driven AF from the 80's... Since the a99 has a focus limiter built-into the body, it does help, but it's still slow. Also, nailing focus at f/1.8 is a hit or miss with AF. NOTE: I did not calibrate this lens. Even if I did, I'm not sure how much it would help. I mostly manually focus it if shooting at large apertures by using focus peaking and punching in all the way. The focus throw is a good amount, so nailing critical focus can be done easily.IQ: This lens is has the best IQ I've ever seen. The contrast is amazing. The sharpness is outstanding at f/1.8. This lens produces that 3D pop that people talk about online. I was always skeptical of this 3D pop, but after using this lens, I knew what they were talking about. The bokeh is oh-so buttery smooth. It even beats out the 85mm f/1.4 CZ and probably every other lens out there. The only problem with the IQ in this lens is it has Longitudinal Chromatic Aberrations when using it wide open until around f/4 is it nearly gone. I wish it was a APO design like the Zeiss 135 APO, but you can't win them all.Overall, if you use the Sony Alpha system, this lens is definitely one you have to add to your bag if you love taking portraits. Everything you read about this lens is true. Its a masterpiece that yields the most stunning portraits. The colors, contrast, and sharpness will amaze you. Bokeh is magical with incredible depth of field control and superior low light performance. Photographs inside without any flash are consistently excellent.I originally bought this lens for use on my a850, but have been using it with an LA-EA5 adapter on my new a7Riv. The results are impressive to say the least.Buy one while you still can. I doubt the FE 135 f/2.8 GM will ever match what this glass can produce.
