Didn’t buy these to swim in,just to use in the spa area, hydro pool etc after my swim. Sound is decent enough but I find that they are quite uncomfortable and not easy to get a good, snug fit. Already lost the swim proof ear bud that I fitted to it after 1 day, going to cost £10 to replace. They do what I want but not sure how well they would stay in the ear when swimming or how long you could stand having them sit in the ear when swimming? I imagine if you only swim for 20 minutes they might be fine?

These were a birthday gift and not something I was looking for or something I needed as I already had two mp3 players. When I saw they were only 4gb and had what I would call the gimmicky usp of being swim friendly my heart sank (no pun intended). Would I actually use them, ever? Mmm...Anyway, I made the effort to charge them up and load them with songs (extremely easy, even with the software, although I didn't realise you can actually just drag and drop).Since then I've used them in the gym, at work and whilst out walking and I've been pleasantly surprised by the sound quality.Fit: pretty standard, not too obtrusive on the ear although I do seem to be between bud sizes.Sound: good (very good if you actually consider the package as a whole);Ease of use : ... MoreThese were a birthday gift and not something I was looking for or something I needed as I already had two mp3 players. I swim a lot but I can't see these ever getting wet, limited depth and perhaps a faff to dry.Overall rating 4+ when you review them for what they are and what they cost. The instructions aren't great but there isn't much to learn. The buttons are quite logical but I'm not really sure how best to set up my folders /albums/playlist for maximum ease of use.At present I am mainly using shuffle mode because the thought of trying to find an album without a display is perplexing and I haven't looked at playlist yet. Overall a good present for someone who isn't phone-centric and I think I'll definitely get my use out of them.

Pros: I love this headphone/ mp3 player! This is a game changer for me for my regular swimming sessions. I now swim faster and longer with my favourite tunes in my ears. :-) I've had people asking me what this is in my ears and are shocked to learn that it doesn't need to be blue toothed from my phone. Easy to charge and download music onto it using the USB direct into your laptop. All in one, water proof and great base. I find it sounds the best when I'm swimming on my back, but it's great for all strokes, although when going in and out of the water doing breast stroke the sound does change slightly- the base lessens but doesn't put me off. The best gadget going for swimmers who need a little something to alleviate the boredom. I get a weeks worth of swimming on ... MorePros: I love this headphone/ mp3 player! A lovely thing is I can still hear the water around me but in a really peaceful serene way gently splashing.

Pros: Design is slick and quite aesthetic. It is easy to carry.Cons: It wasn't easy to transfer music from my MacBook Air to the MP3 player. It wasn't clear whether it was possible to select certain, specific albums, playlists or files. It just downloaded everything it could until I stopped it!The ear buds are not a great fit, could do with a wider range for use under water. The sound quality is not great in both ears when swimming. The function buttons are not clearly enough explained, so consequently it becomes difficult to play the tracks you want, you are at the mercy of the shuffle button. It isn't easy to choose the music you want because it downloaded everything until i stopped it. but to know where on the player a particular album is is quite hard!
I've been using the Sony Walkman NW-WS413 for about 2 months, and so far I'm pretty happy with it.I use it when I'm running, both outside and on a treadmill. When I run long I sweat a lot, and some supposedly waterproof headphones don't last long in those conditions. So far, this Sony MP3 player has been great. The one problem I had a few weeks ago was the volume buttons seemed to stick. When I pressed louder the volume would keep increasing to max, and ditto for the pressing lower volume would decrease to no sound. Turning the player off and on didn't help. Thankfully, turning it off and charging it fixed it. It hasn't happened again, so for now I'm considering it a fluke.Overall, the problem I have with both this and any similar headphones or MP3 players is ... MoreI've been using the Sony Walkman NW-WS413 for about 2 months, and so far I'm pretty happy with it.I use it when I'm running, both outside and on a treadmill. Thankfully, turning it off and charging it fixed it. It hasn't happened again, so for now I'm considering it a fluke.Overall, the problem I have with both this and any similar headphones or MP3 players is that the controls are out of sight so it can be hard to know which buttons you're pressing or for the rockers (volume) which side to press. I've seen a version of this MP3 player available in Japan that has a ring with buttons that acts as a remote control, but I haven't seen that available in the U.S. I'd find that useful and wish it were available here.So far so good, though, so I'm pretty happy with this MP3 player.
These earphones are great for gym use, they are waterproof upto two metres, so you can swim in them as well. the buttons take a while to get used to, but after a while you instinctively know what to press and with audible prompts, you always know what button your pressing. If you are previous generation user, you will find a different function has been added, ambient noise mode, this allows you to listen to noise around you, useful if your talking to someone, but more of a novelty otherwise. You get six sets of buds, three being for water use. The volume may change when you are in water, but generally when running or working out they sound good and last a long time with a twelve hour battery life. The volume may change when you are in water, but generally when running or working out they sound good and last a long time with a twelve hour battery life. The battery life can be shortened though if you have ambient mode on, it can climb down to 8 hours, still its four hours better than the first generation model. The earphones can be black, blue or even green, so they can very colorful, they feel well made and easy to grip. The dock feels cheap though, but it does the job, You drag and drop music via usb, which also provides charging functionality via standard micro usb type cables. The dock is half the size of its previous model, and looks cheap, but I suppose it makes it less to carry in your rucksack. A quick charge function of 5 minutes gets you an hour for your quick trip to the the gym. A full charge can provide up to 12 hours playtime.(around one and a half hours for a full charge they indicate in the manual). The earphones also have a seek function, this replaces the previous generations next track function, but you can skip folders by double tapping now, so it becomes easy to move about folders and music. it also uses audible prompts to guide you as there is no screen on these earphones to navigate with, its all done with buttons on the earphones. Left side houses volume, ambient mode and shuffle buttons. on the right side you have on/off, play pause, next/previous track buttons. People used to screens or mp3 players or phones may find their learning curve for these earphones a little steeper, but they are well worth the time invested. Pros: Good sound, waterproof, quick charge, easy to navigate. audible prompts. Cons: People used to mp3 style players with screens/phones, may take longer to adapt to using them.
I'm in the pool most days and love being able to listen to podcasts and music, so much that when I misplaced my Sony I brought the same model again. I can't do without it and I haven't found any other product as good in the water. So I can forgive all the bad things to have something to swim with. But, as a just plain MP3 player it's not great. The controls are clunky, and there's often errors (it gets stuck on the same few tracks over and over again), I have to rename everything to get it played in order, it's cumbersome to rewind if you miss something. The sound isn't great and the waterproof earbuds do reduce quality and clarity further. I use a different MP3 player on land just because this didn't hold up. These are the only mp3 headphones I was able to find which surprised me. In terms of appearance, these headphones disappoint on all levels. Boring grey colour , kinda chunky looking, nothing special basically. Getting music on them was extremely frustrating, not straightforward at all and the program you are told to download and use costs money. I also discovered that the only way to charge them is with a laptop, they do not charge if plugged in to a wall charger which is extremely annoying. After using them now for about a month I will say that the battery lasts a long time and the sound is more then sufficient. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives. They are not comfortable to wear and hurt my ear after about 30 mins but it's more so irritating then ... MoreThese are the only mp3 headphones I was able to find which surprised me. When on shuffle they seem to play just the same 2 artists 90% of the time even though I have hundreds of songs. Pain in the butt to set up and only charges on a laptop. Seeing as I have no other option they will have to do for now!
I have misophonia, hyper-sensitive hearing, and just love rocking out to my tunes whenever, wherever (Shakira!) indoors and out to block out the mediocrity going on around the environment. The playlist at gyms are questionable but at my job, holy cow, their taste in "music" makes me want to have my ear holes surgically sewn shut. Fortunately Sony allows me to plug in and escape to my own world. Their NWZ-S544 model has served me and my family well but lithium batteries can only last so long. In fact that was their best product of all time and since its discontinuation the company has only made inferior products to replace it. Smaller, less buttons, less functionality. That's what people want, right? I digress. This thing has been used extensively for the past 18 months, almost every day for several hours and the battery life is doing its best to stay alive. Panic sets in when I hear music cut off and hear "low battery". Oh, I hadn't mentioned the voice. Yes, it's synthesized, but she sounds lovely. "Power on/off, shuffle play, repeat, next folder."Now at first the buds will hurt your ear holes but like a new pair of boots they'll be fine after a breaking in session. It's worth it. Unfortunately not many people understand I cannot hear them over rock music playing and will continue to shout at me, whether or not they notice this is on my head. The only thing that would've made this perfect would've been noise-cancelling buds. They're not bad, just would've been a tad better. I see some reviewers state the waterproof buds muffle the music so be warned. I yet have to use them as I'm rarely ever at a pool/beach.
This is my 3rd.They seem to last really well for about 5 years.Fit nicely and only need slight adjustments during a run.Very accessible controls that respond instantly.Easy to wash.Charges quickly but the charger wire connection becomes a little loose after a few years which causes a few problems eventually.Sound is of great quality. All controls make it easy to find the music you want and change it whilst running. The uploading to their new platform isn’t as good as it used to be and needs to be more intuitive.I’ve used one for 15 years so it must be worth it.I’ve not found anything else to replace it with so if you want to listen to music on your run it’s ideal.I’d give it 5/5 but the pc platform to manage the music uploads etc only 2/5
