Found this online when browsing soundbars for my tv. to improve sound volume and clarity and I thought it a great looking speaker. Its not a sound bar at all. I read the reviews to learn that it offers far far more than that for me as it totally solves my problem that I am becoming somewhat hard of hearing and need the tv volume up louder than others in the room want. I tried a BOSE soundbar as an alternative, but especially for elderly father, Sony handy is much better and more versatile (can take it with him).

Very useful for people with moderate hearing loss, particularly if your partner prefers a higher volumethan yourself. Being able to take the speaker from it;s charging base, and point the Handy closeto yourself is magic. With some of the adverts being so much louder it is preferable to turn the volumeknob than fiddle with the remote.To carry Handy to the kitchen / bathroom /check the back door, etc. and not loose any narrative is a real plusEasy to set up.
Initially I would have given this speaker a higher star value since it is extremely useful and compact. Being a Sony you would anticipate that what you are buying is of a high quality and standard, but unfortunately my experience with both this item and my new Sony TV tells a different story. My first of these speakers lasted 15 months, so just out of warranty and the television lasted less than 8 months. However, this is now the second of these speakers that I own as my wife kindly brought me a new one. This will however quite likely be the last Sony product that we all buy
