Bought these headphones with the Black Friday deal for $68 & I’m pretty dissatisfied with them entirely. They originally go for around $150 which is absolutely absurd to pay for this kind of quality. If I originally had to pay the $150 they would be returned immediately. They are barely worth the $68 already. They leak sound very bad - forget bringing them to the library or somewhere quieter. Noise cancelling doesn’t work the best & headphones themselves are not that loud. I can have them on the highest volume & still my AirPods are way louder. They don’t connect to my phone when calls come in & I’ve had so many issues with listening to something & calls start coming in & I’m completely unable to get them to connect all of a sudden & makes them useless. & one of THE ... They’re overall very cheap quality/material & feel as if I can break them easily. This makes me very turned off from purchasing headphones with a higher price tag from Sony in the future.

I mainly use for chores or study at home. Like 1-4 hours a few times per week. It dosent come with a case but i just hang it up like you would a horse shoe i guess. It dose have a cheap plastic type of feel, bc it feels so light with thin hollow sounding plastic. But i havent had any major drops and I dont have kids either so it holds up just fine. It sounds great, even when its loud its not overkill. Im a light user so i dont crank the sound often. One issue is im having issues with the Sony sound app. Thats the main reason i chose this headphone above others in its price range (68$ black friday deal) was for the customization. I have another wireless ear bud that works with the app fine but could not add this one to it, even when given the option within the app. I ... MoreI mainly use for chores or study at home. Im not too worried about it though as I dont have a lot of background noise I need block out when using them. The C charger cable is very short, so dont plan on charging while in use, and it dosent come with a charging block. I dont notice a big difference with the noise canceling feature with loud noises like construction but I do notice it working when i cant hear my cat purring lol. The ambient sound feature is nice. I have yet to test it on an airplane or crowded commute.Phone calls work just fine, I can hear the caller clearly, even if they cant hear me (when my phone I like how i can do mild chores with them on, they stay in place and keep my ears warm in the winter. The foam padding is comfortable, havent gotten any fatigue from wearing them too long, maybe the backs of my ears get sweaty. I does have an aux cord port, but doesnt come with an actual cord. In the pictures the red plastic tabs are just the removable plactic wrap from the factory, i kept the red plastic just cuz.All in all i love them and glad i got them at a good price. In my opinion if you are paying full price for this why not include a charging block and aux cord for your buyers.

These are great-sounding headphones, with lots of features.Sony makes good electronics but in the quest for convenience (“the ear cups rotate and flatten!!”), they end up designing the ear-cup holders with a single point of failure, right where the yoke meets the headband. This is the easiest repair route I could find; Sony’s replacement parts are surprisingly hard to find in the online markets.Compare this design to JBL’s two-strut metal adjuster design for most of their wireless headphones and you can see what durability looks like. I’ve had the electronics break on JBLs before they have failed mechanically. “Half life” (here, the amount of time before they break on average) for JBLs in my experience is about 1.5 years, while Sony’s is 6 months. It takes just one bad step or drop and your elegant Sony headphones are one step away from e-waste.So, if you treat them like a fragile scepter and put them on a bust of Shakespeare when you are not using them, your Sonys will last a long time. If you take them outside or leave them on the floor or in your favorite chair, don’t expect them to last more one or two kinetic encounters.
I'm a nursing student currently in my 3rd year at university and I wanted to get wireless headphones for watching and re-watching lectures. I wanted something that had a wired and wireless option, had noise cancellation and ambience, were over-ear, and (most-importantly) didn't break the bank. I wasn't looking for the cream of the crop, just something that meets my needs. And these headphones do just that! They are very comfortable and very easy for my boomer brain to operate. The battery life is amazing, and you can use it wired if it randomly runs out (which is kinda unlikely if you're monitoring battery life). They meet my needs as a college student and do me well.Despite these things, I have some critiques. First, the ear pads are shallow so don't expect ... The battery life is amazing, and you can use it wired if it randomly runs out (which is kinda unlikely if you're monitoring battery life). They meet my needs as a college student and do me well.Despite these things, I have some critiques. First, the ear pads are shallow so don't expect your ears to not touch the inside of the headphone. Second, the noise cancellation is okay, but it isn't the best. I used them while in a particularly chatty part of my campus's main library and I could still hear a considerable amount of sound. Granted they were doing renovations, but still, don't expect to hear absolutely nothing while in a noisy area. Third, it isn't as portable as other headphones. This Sony model can't fold in on itself like the Wh-1000xm 4, so if you are putting it in your backpack while commuting, know that it takes up a considerable amount of space, with or without a carrying case (which does not come with the headphones. you gotta buy them, also unlike the wh-1000xm 4)Overall, these headphones are a noteworthy option for a college student who is wanting a pair of headphones that does everything you need it to do without breaking the bank. Because this model is cheaper, there will be drawbacks and design changes, and it is certainly not as good as Sony's higher-priced models. It was never meant to be better, it was meant to be enough. And that is what this product is. Enough, and for me, more than enough.
For most activities, one looks for convenience, lightweight and sometimes discretion. Hence why most walk around with a type of ear bud. But sometimes you need quality and true noise cancelling that ear buds just don't offer. With so many choices, one can go high end or very low end. This is where it's value comes in where it can cancel out the sound when one is in an airplane. When walking around or a short bike ride, but not so much for working out. Because the type of material on the cups that surround the ears, it would get uncomfortable with sweat.
I have only had these for about a day as I write this, and I have never owned noise canceling headphones in my life. I have had quite a few Sony headphones and earbuds in the past, basically all cheaper ones. These headphones are pretty darn comfortable, but every hour or so I do have to give my ears a quick rest as these headphones have enough tension to gently press my ears against my head which is fine but starts to hurt my ears after some time passes. The sound quality is rather nice considering Ive been using these mainly over bluetooth, but I've also been using Dolby Access (which costs extra) for the spacial and overall better sound. The sound quality is rather nice considering Ive been using these mainly over bluetooth, but I've also been using Dolby Access (which costs extra) for the spacial and overall better sound. The battery life is outstanding on these so far. The headphones talk in a female voice when you change sound modes or power, but beep when changing volume. I am quite impressed with how well the noise canceling works, I came into these not really expecting too much but the way I can stand in front of my furnace when its running full blast and not hardly hear anything - I had to take it in for a minute to really appreciate that moment. These are cool. Theres a sound pass through mode thats supposed to let more outside ambient sound in while you wear them, but that one doesn't seem to work as well as the noise canceling feature does. Knowing now what these can do I'm very glad I bought these, and I bet the more expensive ones are even better but Im ok with these for the time being. If theres one thing I could change about these, I would appreciate better overall frequency response options over bluetooth. These have a very nice overall neutral sound that will make nearly everyone very happy, these have nice bass too, but the sound, well its mid tier for the lack of words coming to mind about it. You're basically paying for $60 Sony headphones but adding wireless and noise canceling to it, if you can do that math you can guess about what these can sound like. For the $100 I paid for these on sale, Im very happy with them and this is a good price I think for this set, $80 would have been even better. One thing I would mention is if you plan to game with these, there is a very minimal input lag that I noticed from the muzzle flash of the gun to when you hear the shot firing, this only happens over bluetooth connection, on wired its no lag. For casual gaming like i do its not even a big deal and you'll get used to it and adapt quickly. I like these and will treat them with care as I have seen some others with cracks because of assumed rough handling. Im aware of this somewhat fragile nature as I went to buy these and will give them a benefit of a doubt and we will see as time goes on if the materials stand up to time. So far, I have only had a positive experience and I look forward to enjoying these hopefully for a few good years. Im very glad I went for these over earbuds because of the 30mm drivers in these, they do handle bass rather nicely.
My wife needed a new headset since her new phone no longer has a phone jack in it. After seeing my older version of this model and liking it she got this one.It took a bit of doing to pair this headset up to the phone (possibly because we were flying at the time and the narrow seats do not make this a conducive environment for anything. That factor alone makes this a worthy replacement. This was noticed in the plane flight back home where I bounced between the two headsets . I have since tried them in an office environment where they performed equally as well.On the negative side they are as bulky as the old pair, just as heavy, and just as bad at causing sweating but that is more than compensated for by the excellent sound and noise reduction. All in all, I like this headset.
I need to wear noise cancelling headphones nearly 100 percent of the time when I am at home. As I am currently located right in front of an agri business with flexible work hours the sound of bulldozers pushing dirt around may begin as early as 5 am.While I had been a heavy user of headphones before here there is no good time to be without so versus gaming or working remotely ( as an early adapter so 13 years later I was able to help those not used to it on work- life balance ) the headphones in use stand a good chance of my falling asleep with them.As it is a need ( I have synesthesia so unexpected sound is a bit like taking a blender to my brain ) I try to have no fewer than two working good quality and a back up whatever is on sale not to expensive so I am ... The audio is still good but as a tight fit is vital to my needs this was a problem. In that time it outlasted a total of 3 ( 1 and 2 replacements ) of a brand primarily aimed at gamers which has a lot to say about durability and now my extended warranty with another retailer is not being honoured despite those ones having a 2 year manufacturer and add standard extended I am not there yet.I am probably a bit on the cranky side given the combination of both synesthesia and autism can make headphones invested in very life or death weight that may be fairly unique given auditory to visual field synesthesia is low incidence and the type I experience low incidence within it - I could be a set of one in how serious this is as a need )With it difficult to afford the kind some friends easily get funded I had modest expectations for these when they were on sale in the first Black Thursday of pandemic mode but they stood up exceptionally well .Their battery life may actually be underestimated which I have not seen in other electronics.Sound is good and while i used it mostly with computers that have additional audio programs when using it with my back up , is barely a computer device , the sound did not take that big a hit other than in nice to have personal streaming tuning but overall still great
There probably are similar or possibly better $150 wireless noise cancelling headphones out there.Probably.But for those of you who dont want to spend hours comparing, reading, and watching reviews on different brands with different tradeoffs and just want to walk into your nearest bestbuy get a decent pair of wireless ANC headphones without breaking the bank, you really cant go wrong with these. They dont sound as good, feel as comfortable, or have all the features of the XM4s. But as my title states, they are the budget versions of the XM4s.Imagine the XM4s were half the price....but with 80% of the quality. Thats basically what these are.For the uninitiated, they sound great. The noise cancelling is good enough. Probably a 6.5/10. Theyll work fine on a ... Theyll work fine on a plane and at work to drown out the HVAC system, but you can still hear construction and people talking around you if theres a lot of them. The part that surprised me the most was the comfortability. These are lightweight and feel pretty similar to the XM4s.And frankly, I prefer the physical buttons for mic/volume control than I do the touch controls of the XM4s.If you're budget is $150 or less, and you want a really great pair of ANC wireless headphones, you cannot go wrong with these.
