Sony XSGTF1639 16cm 3 Way Speakers
The Sony XS-GTF1639 6.5 Inch 3-Way Speakers are a fantastic option for the driver looking to pump up the volume on your drive, without installing an expensive and extensive range of car audio system infrastructure. Designed to provide premium sound quality across a wider frequency these Sony car speakers feature HOP aramid carbon fibre matrix woofers that produce full, rich and powerful bass and mid range sound with a super durable rubber surround and stabiliser to minimise distortion. The sturdy PEI-constructed main tweeter provides a crystal clear upper mid-range and high frequency sound, with an additional super tweeter to give cover a wider frequency band of high-end sound. Constructed for compatibility with Sony head units utilising signature EXTRABASS circuitry, these speakers can handle 45W RMS / 270W Peak power that makes them a perfect option for lower powered car audio set-ups running purely off the head unit. The flat profile tweeter design of these Sony speakers makes installation a breeze even in confined spaces, and will help you make the most out of your set-up without breaking the bank in the process.

Because they have the bass response the others may not. I just installed a them in the front doors paired with a Pioneer SBH-C10BT blue tooth mob ph car amp receiver and they sound really nice, im buying another pair for the back doors soon from Repco Rosebud because they are a wonderful great team of people i got to know trust and like. These Sonys are well worth the minimal price difference from cheaper units not to say they are necessarily bad however im very glad i paid a bit more i know i got better sound for the price for sure. Easy to install and well made perfect for the nuanced step up from the paper cones in my X-trail. Sony have always made quality gear ive used there tech for 30 years now. Bought 2 sets of these (4 in total) as replacement for my 30W stock door speakers in my 2013 VE Series 2 SV6 Z-Series sedan, using the stock IQ headunit and wiring without the center speaker. Less bass than the stock speakers, but no distortion along with improved vocal clarity and overall sound is significantly better than the stock speakers (set treble to -8, everything else on 0, DDL and SDV disabled, play music from CD or USB not Bluetooth, Ipod, Aux or AM/FM). On the first week or two, I highly recommended these. However after a few weeks they started popping with bass at high volumes. I've only been using the car as a weekender since WFH, used about 1 tank of fuel since getting these speakers in June. I doubt they would've lasted a week when I used to commute ... I've only been using the car as a weekender since WFH, used about 1 tank of fuel since getting these speakers in June. I doubt they would've lasted a week when I used to commute daily, 2 hours of travelling per day. I now have to set bass to -12 (the lowest setting) in order to reduce the popping which leaves a very tinny sound, and although I'm not a sound system expert, I'm fairly sure a set of 45W speakers with 270W peak shouldn't have this issue on a stock headunit that used to run 30W speakers all around. A real shame given the excellent overall quality of them, now I need to rip out all 4 and see if I can return them for a refund and upgrade to something that can actually handle the peak of the stock headunits they claim to be good with. Not sure I'd want to know how bad the popping is with the "EXTRABASS" Sony headunits they advertise.

Installed these speakers in all 4 doors to replace the factory speakers in my 2004 X-Trail. Have now been using these for 2 months and I'm very happy with the result. They sound great (after an EQ adjustment), being powered by my Sony head unit. Awesome volume, clarity and definition across the frequencies. 10/10 recommend for a cost effective upgrade to an aging system. Kudos to SCA for a seamless click and collect experience during lockdown, too!

The one thing these speakers are missing is solid bass, they can be tuned with a Sony headunit’s megabass, they’ll give a nice punch but lack enough RMS watts to keep up with the 4 way Sony 6.5 speakers (which I’d recommend over these). I only bought these due to the 4way Sony speaker’s being sold out, I will be upgrading to the 4way versions asap.
Decent speakers for the price. Got these on specials and the sound quality improved significantly. The bass is not quite powerful but enough sound to enjoy.
I bought 4 of these speakers as replacements for my old car speakers. When I first wired them up I was disappointed with the sound quality and particular the bass. then I was told about something called phase/polarity and realized I had wired up two of the speakers in reverse polarity, and this was muting the bass and quality of the speakers. After I wired them all correctly using an app called 'speaker pop' they sounded great and when my mates hopped in they were surprised there wasn't a subwoofer the bass response was so good. great speakers just make sure you get the polarity right!
Better than stock and high quality. My car is an older car from the 90's, it had speakers that weren't in the best shape, so these definitely made a difference.
5 stars because they perform great for the price. I got these on sale for $70 and they are a substantial upgrade to factory audio. The Sony XS-XB1641 were also on the display wall which (even with that crappy environment) are significantly louder and more bass, but they are >$115 even on sale so it depends on your use purpose and budget. For my P-plate daughter's Cruze these fill the cabin nicely. Voices are clear and no 'flubbing' when the bass drops. EQ to personal taste. I do wonder if anyone giving a low rating has the terminals the wrong way around, or didn't seal off the mounting location. I cut the factory speaker out of its plastic housing to use as an adaptor which recreated the proper seal with the door. Some pics I see people post have huge gaps which ... I bought this product about 6 months ago to update a sound system form the past. I had to tune the bass in the unit down in order for them distort at higher volumes. Recently they have gotten the well documented crackle and pop of death meaning in about a week from now they will die. Although these are cheap speakers and are in a lower category there are better options for about $30 more. Its best to save up some more and buy a different speaker. I would love to hear how these sound with the Sony extra bass units.
Purchased two weeks ago. Fitted to my Volkswagen Transporter T5..great sound easy to install.
