I recently picked up the Sony ZV1 since i found myself recording alot more content for my girlfriend in the gym and also having alot more time for vacations and family events. It has been the most Versatile and Compact camera i have ever used besides my cell phone. It has great battery life and takes incredible quality 4k video. I cannot get over how portable it actually it. I can take this thing everywhere and it even fits in my pocket. Such a game changer! I highly recommend this mighty device to anyone, from beginners to Professionals that want a clutch device rhat doesnt need extra lens. Such a perfect camera for content creators too. Easily get the highest quality and the auto focus it the most adaptive ive ever used on a camera in this price range. 5 Stars!! I ... I rented this as a try-before-I-Buy kind of thing, and I ended up really digging it. The stills and autofocus is great, as is the 10 fps shooting, and the video holds up really well. The audio is surprisingly good as well; good enough to not *need* an external mic. The fact that it comfortably fits in a cargo pocket with the little dead cat attached really forgives a lot of the ergonomic issues inherent to a camera so small. My use case was hiking around Nevada with a bunch of larger gear, and using the ZV-1 as a vlogger/point and shoot.I have two main complaints about this camera:1) Sony colors make me look like a tomato. This is easy to edit later, but it would be nice if I looked a bit less like I was cosplaying as a fire engine.2) Switching from video mode to ... A dedicated switch would probably have been worth the real estate. I did notice that in stills mode, you could hit the record button and it would start taking video with whatever stills settings you had. It didn't work the other way around though, and being able to snap off a quick still frame while still in video mode would have been pretty handy.

Not happy at all, wanted to return the camera as it does not work as it should but Very were really awkward and no help at all.The camera shuts down after a few mins recording, the battery life is very poor, the screen is poor quality, it’s used a really bad USB micro socket and not USB C, if you pan around with the camera the footage is unuseable as the rolling shutter is sooooo badLike I said I wanted to return as it’s just not fit for purpose at all, and to top it all the price came down by £100 just after I bought it…..Don’t buy 😡😡😡I have wasted my money on a camera that is just basically useless and Very are awful with customer service and help, I should be able to return the camera in the first 30 days with a no quibble return, but they won’t let me ... First this camera is small enough to fit into a coat pocket or an handbag, If you take a little time going throudh the menu system you will soon realize that it is quite easy to understand, the camera takes great pictures, the auto focus tracking focus and touch focus rarely let you down. You can shoot in fully auto mode for that quick moment resulting in decent pictures or if you have the time you can set the camera via mode button and slect manual and get the desired frane you want. The camera has different picture profiles you can choose and the buttons on the camera are well placed. if I had one small quibble it would be no view finder. The video options on the camera are vast, im only just starting to get into video. vlogging etc so I will have to update on ... This camera is truly a delight. The tripod/grip accessory works really well to help add just a little height if you need it. Even just recording on HD (my computer is very outdated) it caught some really nice footage in an indoor theatre space with limited lighting!User-friendly menus, pretty easy to get the hang of for someone who hasn't handled a camera in over a decade. I really love the flippable viewing screen so I can switch from filming myself to things in front of me and still see everything I'm capturing. I am excited to see how the 4k looks once I have a computer powerful enough to edit that kind of footage on. Really great investment for a vlogger or social media photo/videographer.I named mine Ferdinand because of the little fur toupee/ wind screen ... MoreThis camera is truly a delight. Happy with this little camera. Mainly for video, It is a 2nd to my Fujifilm XS10 which is my main camera. I did a ton of research before buying. Also considered the Z V E 10, but bearing in mind I already have a brilliant Fujifilm I went with Z V 1 for the following reasons.Really small and portable, could go in your pocket.Built in lens 24mm - 70mm plus creative zoom which takes it further.Built in ND filter.Same focal length as kit lens on Z V E10 ( because the latter has crop factor on APSC sensor)Mainly use it for video so even though the photos are still good, I don't really use regularly it for that purpose.I can buy relatively cheep lens attachment to widen the field for a wider angle vlog if I want to. There are a few around that can be magnetically attached so it's quick and easy.At 24mm this gives me 1.8 aperture and the Z V E 10 won't go that wide on the kit lens.I can and do upload to my phone easily.Overall I'm happy with this little camera for the purpose I bought it.If I didn't have my fab Fujifilm for my main camera, maybe I would have considered the ZV E 10 for interchangeable lenses, but for me personally that wasn't important.I often hear it said by professionals that's there is no bad camera nowadays, it just depends what you want to use it for.
This camera takes nice pictures, and is everything the various reviewers on the internet say (good pictures, videos, etc). For me, it was not what I wanted. The buttons and knobs are way too small, and my fingers are way too big to manipulate the thing. It is a very small camera, and is so light that it feels like a toy. On a tripod, it won't shake, but in my hands it has no heft at all and shakes too much. The menu system is tedious, especially with the tiny buttons. But the good part is that there is a huge amount of help available on the net, due to the popularity of the camera. I bought an aftermarket grip and it is a lifesaver. Made by Aodelan. It helps with adding a little mass to the whole thing, and if you get this camera get the grip, without a doubt. You ... The lens extends about an inch and a half when engaged, and if you accidently have the camera facing down, the motor will try and push the lens out and make the camera do a pushup. I am sure this will damage the lens motor, so watch out! The picture quality is a little better than my cell phone. It can take pictures in moderate lighting, but it gets grainy. I mostly use cameras for tracking myself dancing tango with a partner, and for food photography. I have a Samsung NX10,which became obsolete. And I have a Canon G7. I am not sure that this Sony camera is any better than my old G7. But it is more modern. I think I would have been better off spending the money on lighting and continue using the G7. But the Sony camera is a good product, if you can deal with the tiny controls. Realistically, a good cell phone is about the same as this camera. I think the next step up from a good cell phone is probably a full frame camera with a good lens.
Even though we do have full size mirrorless Sony A7IVs, we choose to use the ZV-1 for our wedding videos. The video quality is like watching Netflix, and the sound is amazing even using yhe onboard mics. Smaller and lighter weight than the larger cameras makes the ZV-1 much more portable. The tilt-swivel screen acurately shows what is recording, and it's a very easy camera to use. The only downsides to this camera is the battery life and the location of he battery door. You can not change the battery while the camera is mounted on a tripod-monopod shoe. To solve the problem we bought Smallrig cages and we can now change the battery while the camera is mounted. We recently switched to a dummy battery hooked up to a power pack and no longer need to change batteries. ... I love this camera, it’s lightweight and I love that the screen that flips and reverses. The video quality is awesome. It’s my first camera so I do think it’s appropriate for you if you’re just getting your feet wet or wanna use it as a secondary camera. I do think that advanced camera users may opt for something else. Especially considering that it doesn’t have a flash or lenses that extends for a wider frame- but this camera is compatible with attachments that you can buy (which I’ve purchased and it’s been working great for me) The main downside of this camera is the battery life. You’ll get an hour, maybe two if you’re lucky, off of a full charge. I had to order 3 more off Amazon to carry around with me because the battery can die on you at any given moment. ... Another thing is that this is primarily a video camera. I’m not even sure if it takes photos yet, I have to look it up but the only way I’ve been able to take photos thus far is by recording a video and the camera will snapshot a frame from it. It’s not a deal breaker for me but if your main use of the camera is for photos- wouldn’t recommend. I think this is a really good camera for content creation though! Just keep extra batteries on you and you’re good to go! :)
I'm just writing this review to point out something that makes this camera much more versatile than the newer ZV-1F or the ZV-1 II that "replaces" the ZV-1. The ZV-1 has optical image stabilization in the lens, the other two do not. Many people have pointed out the slight difference this makes in video, vs. the digital only on the newer cameras. But this misses one important thing. If you are going to use this camera as a compact travel camera or any other use case that will involve taking pictures, digital stabilization does nothing for photos. This means the ZV-1F/1 II have no image stabilization in photos. The ZV-1 has optical image stabilization when taking pictures.
