I purchased this camera with the expectation that it will perform exceptionally well, unfortunately it does not! Lets start with the big things, first it overheats within one hour of use. If you intend to use this camera for video (which is it's intended use) expect it to turn off do to internal temperature within 60 minutes of use. This is completely unacceptable if you intend to film an event or anything longer than a short video clip. Second, when setting up a shot the camera times out quickly and resets the focal length of the lens back to starting position. This is very annoying when you have your frame setup and the camera times out, and you have to reset your lens every time. Third, the APS-C sensor really crops the image and limits the field of view. Its not clear that the camera is getting charged besides a tiny hidden yellow light below the charger cable, I cannot understand why they did not use the red light on the face of the camera to indicate that it's charging? Or the fact that the battery gate doesn't automatically lock when you close it, you have to manually lock it every time. These are just some of the things I did not like, but I'll leave it at that.As for the positives, it films good video quality. The autofocus is good, when you have a person in the frame, otherwise it struggles to find a point of focus. The E-Mount give you a lot of flexibility with lens selection, but the camera definitely falls short.

The huge APS-C sensor captures beautiful images even in less than ideal lighting conditions. The AF system does a great job of keeping the subject in focus, making portrait photography effortless. Swapping out the 16-50mm for the 1.8f/50mm was easy once I figured out the alignment dots, and gave me some outstanding portrait shots with some nice bokeh.Video also comes out beautifully, in HD and in 4K. The intelligent autofocus keeps the subject looking sharp and there is some image stabilization that keeps camera movements looking smooth. There's a slow/quick motion setting for video capture as well.Swapping between still, video, and slow/quick-mo is done via one button. You have to look at the icon at the top of the display to know which mode you are in. My initial lighting tests ended up being in slow-motion because I didn't know what was going on. Also, it's difficult to move quickly from video mode to photo mode to snap a quick still then back to video mode, since it cycles through the modes with each press, and there is a bit of a lag between changing so it's easy to overshoot which mode you are trying to get to. If you could take stills in video mode, this wouldn't have been that big a deal, but for some reason you can't with this camera. During a quick shoot while I took my family fishing, I constantly had to tell them to hold their pose while I figured out what mode I was in. And for some odd reason, often when I was zooming in or out directly after taking a picture, the camera went into review mode and zooms in on the pic I just took, leaving me scrambling trying to figure out how to put it back in camera mode before I lost the shot.Oddly enough, it was the online streaming feature, the one that ostensibly this camera was designed for, that felt like it was the least intuitive to use. Every time I plugged in my camera to my computer it would flash that it was not in USB streaming mode. I had to watch a youtube video to figure out how to get OBS to recognize it as a video capture device.Tucked away in a menu option (provided you are in video shooting mode first) is the option to turn on USB streaming (don't plug the camera in first, or else it'll activate file transfer mode). Once that is selected, you can open up your streaming software, and after you connect the device it will be recognized as a selectable source.I recorded a quick video game streaming session, pointed the camera at my face for some close-up reaction shots, and set a hotkey to cut over to it occasionally. The result was worth the hassle of figuring out and setting up. Movie quality closeups, with a tight depth of field that made background blur filters obsolete. Even in the challenging lighting conditions (in my bedroom at night, with a fluorescent desk light shining on my face and a 15-panel nanoleaf cycling through every color behind me, you know, typical streamer stuff) the footage was pristine.If you've got the face for it, this camera is essential for giving your production a professional sheen. Even if you don't, there's a beautifying mode that gives that nice soft focus to hide blemishes. And if you do any sort of product shots, the intelligent autofocus has a mode that prioritizes close objects over faces. This means that you can be on camera with your face in focus, then hold up a product close to the lens, and the camera will quickly focus on it, then focus back on your face once the item is out of the way. None of that silly "hold your hand behind the product so that hopefully your webcam can see it" nonsense, this camera makes it seem as if you had a trained cinematographer on your crew.Overall, the end product that this camera puts out is worth the occasional frustration at not being in the right context menu. Beautiful pictures with minimal work, and excellent streaming capabilities, all in a small package.
The ZV E10 is a fanstastic camera for you to start off with. Whether you are getting ready to start a career in photography, video or using it as a tool to start a new hobby, this is an excellent camera. First, the body is extremely light but feels well built. I've been a photographer for over forty years but this is my first foray into mirrorless hardware.I was looking for a small, well built interchangeable lens camera to use ordinarily for shooting video and sometimes as a compact still camera for when I'm backpacking. This hits the mark on all fronts.It's built like a little tank, nothing feels creaky, nothing flexes. I like that the screen can be rotated to protect it when not in use. The buttons and dials are solid and responsive. Altogether this feels more like a professional camera than I could have hoped for.Video quality is excellent. I love that I have the option of HLG for simplified colour grading in post.Still image quality is much better than expected too, I can certainly live with this out in the ... A trade off for the small form factor is fewer buttons and dials than one gets on a full frame DSLR. This will get easier as I get more acclimatised to the Sony menu structure and as I customise the camera to suit my workflow more. If you're more acquainted with Sony cameras this will be less of an issue for you.My other little gripe is the relatively short battery life. I guess its only to be expected in a camera so small that needs to power a screen whenever it's in use. As an aside to that, I do miss the viewfinder, particularly in bright light.Those little gripes aside, this is a fantastic camera that produces great video and stills at a real bargain price. I don't hesitate in recommending it.

It just makes you want to get out there and start shootingThe Sony ZV-E10 feels solid, nimble, responsive, easy to hold and incredible value for money. I'm really glad to have chosen this camera.

If you're filming an event or a concert expect this camera to overheat and turn off within an hour of filming, and I don't mean continuous filming, even filming in bursts it will still overheat. Second, you can't take pictures while in video mode, which is frustrating because sometimes you want to snap a few still frames but cannot without changing the camera settings. Fourth, the camera times out when setting up a frame and resets your lens, this is so annoying when you're framing a scene and have to reset your lens every time. And finally the menu is the least intuitive of any camera brand I've ever used. This is not a prosumer level camera, it's beginner at best.As for the pros, the camera does delivery high quality video. The Autofocus is good when you have a person in frame, but struggles to find focus otherwise. The E-Mount gives you a lot of flexibility with lens options. I rate it 2/10 for the Sony ZV-E10
