I purchased this camera with the expectation that it will perform exceptionally well, unfortunately it does not! Lets start with the big things, first it overheats within one hour of use. If you intend to use this camera for video (which is it's intended use) expect it to turn off do to internal temperature within 60 minutes of use. This is completely unacceptable if you intend to film an event or anything longer than a short video clip. Second, when setting up a shot the camera times out quickly and resets the focal length of the lens back to starting position. This is very annoying when you have your frame setup and the camera times out, and you have to reset your lens every time. Third, the APS-C sensor really crops the image and limits the field of view. Fourth, is the inability to take pictures while the camera is in video mode, this is frustrating because sometimes you just want to snap a picture, and you simply cannot without changing the camera settings. Fifth, the menu is not intuitive like other brands and one of my least favorite to navigate. And lastly, the little things like not having an indicator light when charging. Its not clear that the camera is getting charged besides a tiny hidden yellow light below the charger cable, I cannot understand why they did not use the red light on the face of the camera to indicate that it's charging? Or the fact that the battery gate doesn't automatically lock when you close it, you have to manually lock it every time. These are just some of the things I did not like, but I'll leave it at that.As for the positives, it films good video quality. The autofocus is good, when you have a person in the frame, otherwise it struggles to find a point of focus. The E-Mount give you a lot of flexibility with lens selection, but the camera definitely falls short.

I chose the Sony ZV-E10 over the Nikon Z30 and Fujifilm X-S10 for four main reasons:1. Better autofocus than the competition.2. Lighter rig due to better/lighter lens selections (Sony 11mm F/1.8).3. Sony community. There is more information to help with getting the most out of Sony cameras than the competition.4. Less expensive than the Fujifilm X-S10.5. Usage of Gyroscopic data for post production stabilization (Catalyst Browse).Main Cons compared to competition:1. Lacks IBIS that is included with the Fujifilm X-S10.2. Nikon Z30 and Fujifilm have better kit lenses.3. Heavier crops for active stabilization and 4k 30fps.A note about stabilization that I noticed that I did not find in my research: BOTH digital stabilization and post-processing ... MoreI chose the Sony ZV-E10 over the Nikon Z30 and Fujifilm X-S10 for four main reasons:1. The Sony camera is an excellent option for those on a budget who are looking for a device that takes exceptional photos and videos for vlogging. The included lens kit, which is perfect for beginners, is a great bonus. However, there is one downside that I encountered. When applying stabilization, the recording has a crop, which may not be ideal for everyone. This camera does not have built-in In-body Image Stabilization (IBIS), and using stabilization without a gimbal may result in shaky footage. To avoid this, you may opt to turn off the stabilization and use a gimbal or catalyst software to reduce camera shake. If you're looking for a full-frame IBIS, I recommend checking out the Sony A74, which is the next model up. When you're ready for an upgrade, you can consider moving on to a full-frame camera.
I recently bought this camera because I wanted to better the content quality on my YouTube channel and I have been pleased with it. There are some shortcomings of this camera but like any other camera, this is no different. Rolling Shutter and the build quality are the most annoying/con of this camera that you can't wrap your mind around. The rolling shutter as you might have seen on the youtube reviews of this camera is pretty bad and the build quality is very plastic-ish/cheap. But there are also some pros of this camera, like the incredible sensor of this camera that lets you record up to 4k 24 uncropped and 4k 30 cropped. The kit lens it comes with does no magic but with the right lens, this camera is incredible. I have the Sigma 18-50 mm lens which does magic on this little camera, video quality and photo quality sky rockets on this when you start using better lenses, no surprise there. This is perhaps the best entry point to the sony mirrorless camera system because of the flip screen and decent audio quality from the on board mic but more over on the lens collection of the e mounts and perhaps the best beginner/entry point camera for the e mount camera for content creators.
The ZV E10 is a fanstastic camera for you to start off with. Whether you are getting ready to start a career in photography, video or using it as a tool to start a new hobby, this is an excellent camera. First, the body is extremely light but feels well built. It comes with a surprisingly decent microphone, which allows you to start vlogging if you were interested in starting a youtube, and saves you from additional equipment. Paired with the excellent Sigma 16mm F1.4, it gives you a wide-angle lens with decent low-light ability. It also comes with a fully articulating, or flip-out, display which makes it easy to frame yourself while recording or taking pictures. And it also offers a "defocus" button that will prioritize aperture to keep your background nice and blurry. Overall, I can confidently recommend this as a starting camera for all the features and ease of use.
After lots of research, I purchased my first ZV-E10 a couple of months ago. I'm a workplace trainer that delivers multiple virtual training sessions a week, and I wanted something compact that still provided far more professional quality video than the webcams I'd been using previously.I have the camera set up permanently on a tripod in a studio, and I use a dummy battery for a couple of reasons - it keeps the heat away from the camera (some of my training sessions are 3 hours long) and it also protects the life of the real battery. The ZV-E10 has a 'clean' HDMI output which means I can still see menus, etc ... on the camera's screen, but they don't get broadcast beyond the camera. The lack of this feature on some competing models was a dealbreaker for me.This is my first experience with Sony cameras (I have decades of experience with another brand) so I expected to spend a bit of time getting used to the new menus, however I found everything I needed within a couple of hours of the package arriving. Since then I've explored further and now feel very comfortable navigating the many options and settings available. While it's a smaller camera than I'm used to, it feels sturdy and well-built, and the ability to swap lenses means there's plenty out there to support all foreseeable needs for me. That said, its primary role is to stream training content from my studio at work, and my many learners constantly comment on the quality of the video - as do I.I've been so impressed with the ZV-E10's ability to meet my needs that I've since bought a second one. I'm fortunate to be able to work from home at least a couple of days a week, and this means I can provide the same quality of experience for my training audiences.
I've been a photographer for over forty years but this is my first foray into mirrorless hardware.I was looking for a small, well built interchangeable lens camera to use ordinarily for shooting video and sometimes as a compact still camera for when I'm backpacking. This hits the mark on all fronts. It's built like a little tank, nothing feels creaky, nothing flexes. I like that the screen can be rotated to protect it when not in use. The buttons and dials are solid and responsive. Altogether this feels more like a professional camera than I could have hoped for.Video quality is excellent. I love that I have the option of HLG for simplified colour grading in post.Still image quality is much better than expected too, I can certainly live with this out in the ... MoreI've been a photographer for over forty years but this is my first foray into mirrorless hardware.I was looking for a small, well built interchangeable lens camera to use ordinarily for shooting video and sometimes as a compact still camera for when I'm backpacking. I love that I have the option of HLG for simplified colour grading in post.Still image quality is much better than expected too, I can certainly live with this out in the mountains where size and weight come into play.It even seems to produce reasonable results in its automated video and photo modes, making it ideal for those wanting to move into the world of interchangeable lens cameras for the first time.On the minus side, using it in manual mode is a little more "fiddly" than the DSLR's I'm accustomed to, I'm having to delve into the somewhat convoluted menus a little more often than I'd like. A trade off for the small form factor is fewer buttons and dials than one gets on a full frame DSLR. This will get easier as I get more acclimatised to the Sony menu structure and as I customise the camera to suit my workflow more. If you're more acquainted with Sony cameras this will be less of an issue for you.My other little gripe is the relatively short battery life. I guess its only to be expected in a camera so small that needs to power a screen whenever it's in use. As an aside to that, I do miss the viewfinder, particularly in bright light. Those little gripes aside, this is a fantastic camera that produces great video and stills at a real bargain price. I don't hesitate in recommending it.
This is my first mirrorless camera so no point of reference. But it's very light and fun to use. Beginner photographers like me may find the myriad settings daunting, not helped by the 577 pages manual. Don't start with that!I doubted my ability to master this new device and considered returning it.I found a great tutorial for this camera on the usual free video sharing platform. It really helped demystify the whole thing. And also made me less shy about handling the camera itself.A couple of days later I also had a 1-2-1 online tutorial with Jessops. Best price on the market and extremely knowledgeable tutor. HIGHLY recommend. So a week into it, and because I understand the camera much better, using it now feels like fun rather than overwhelming. The quality of the pictures and videos I have made using the 16-50mm kit lens is excellent (referring to resolution etc, not to my composition. Alas).I really like that you can get to your controls several ways and you can assign short cuts to custom keys. The Fn key is also genius - and customisable. So many great features to help you get the best results. It just makes you want to get out there and start shootingThe Sony ZV-E10 feels solid, nimble, responsive, easy to hold and incredible value for money. I'm really glad to have chosen this camera.
This camera falls short on so many levels. Lets start with the big things, first it overheats! If you're filming an event or a concert expect this camera to overheat and turn off within an hour of filming, and I don't mean continuous filming, even filming in bursts it will still overheat. Second, you can't take pictures while in video mode, which is frustrating because sometimes you want to snap a few still frames but cannot without changing the camera settings. Third, the APS-C sensor really crops in deep, losing a lot of your field of view. Fourth, the camera times out when setting up a frame and resets your lens, this is so annoying when you're framing a scene and have to reset your lens every time. Lastly, it's the little things like the lack of an indicator ... MoreThis camera falls short on so many levels. Lets start with the big things, first it overheats! Lastly, it's the little things like the lack of an indicator light when charging the camera, there is just a tiny yellow light hidden by the cable, I do not understand why they didn't use the red light indicator on the face of the camera, or the fact that the battery gate doesn't lock on it own, and you have to manually lock the battery gate every time. And finally the menu is the least intuitive of any camera brand I've ever used. This is not a prosumer level camera, it's beginner at best.As for the pros, the camera does delivery high quality video. The Autofocus is good when you have a person in frame, but struggles to find focus otherwise. The E-Mount gives you a lot of flexibility with lens options. I rate it 2/10 for the Sony ZV-E10
