[Rewarded Review] 1 of the best sound bars!

This sound bar system is awesome! You have to experiment with the settings to get the right sound that you like, but once you do, you'll love it! Like for instance if you want the bass louder, you'll have to turn down each of the bars speakers down individually (except i left satellite-rear & rear top speakers up because they sound lower), turn the bass up, then turn the volume up. The subwoofer punches above itself as its a 8" woofer but sounds more like a 10" or 12" when turned up. I had it at 25 out of 100 & it can quake but very clear bass. I have the satellites speakers on sanus speaker stands that worked with its hardware (HTB3-B1) & hooked up to a LG C3 48" tv & it works flawlessly. I had to change tv output to hdmi eark, enable passthrough, & have no problems with sound sync issues (sounds not matching up with lip movements). I was worried about sound not in sync with tv, but luckily no problems. The only things i don't like about the system is it doesn't save settings for each preset like game pro standard, etc... & it doesnt have a hdmi 2.1 4k 120hz only 4k 60hz. You'll have to adjust the settings if you want to for each preset each time you change it as this system saves settings "globally" for everything & just plug bars eark to your eark tv as a workaround. On the good side of that, when you change presets & have the same settings active it still does sound really good just a little different. Overall, I highly recommend it if your looking for an awesome sound barsystem, especially if your looking for a Samsung sound bar system & you dont want the physically biggest bar & the most system power ( This has 540 watts of power). This is a step down from the Samsung flagship HW-Q990D (Has like 656 watts of power & hdmi 2.1 passthrough). I'd recommend HW-Q990D if you have a large room & a bigger tv.

First off, I’ll say that this soundbar is amazing. I recently purchased a 75” Sony X90L TV and although I have a 5.1 surround sound system set up for listening to SACD and DVD-Audio surround I wanted something that would take advantage of the Dolby Atmos capability available. The soundbar is very good looking with its industrial design of a combination of plastic and metal. It is a large soundbar at around 44” wide, 2.3” high and 4.7” deep. This turned out to be perfect for placing it on a stand below the Sony TV as it just reaches to the top of the lower trim of the TV with the TV in its lower stand position. Connecting the soundbar to the TV was easy. I simply setup the subwoofer and rear speakers and then plugged in the soundbar to eARC on the TV and everything automatically connected. The soundbar has eARC connection to the TVs eARC input in order to get Dolby Atmos and DTS-X audio. There is also an additional input for other devices such as a Blu Ray player or gaming console. Your TV will need to have CEC (Bravia Sync in the case of Sony TVs) turned on in order to be able to control the soundbar with a single remote. I am using a 4K Dolby Vision Roku stick to turn on the TV and access the streaming Apps. When I turn on the TV using the Roku remote it turns on the soundbar and can control the volume. Something interesting that I found was if I adjust the volume using the Roku remote the TV displays the volume changes but if I use the Samsung remote it does not. Once you get everything connected you need to download the Samsung Smart Things app for either IOS or Android in order to get more control of the soundbar. The app is easy to use and provides control of the sound options for standard, surround, game and adaptive mode. The app provides volume and equalization control for the front and rear channels as well as control of the subwoofer. I am using the system in adaptive mode with minor tweaks to the center, height and rear surrounds as well as the subwoofer. The system consists of the main soundbar, 8” subwoofer and 2 rear surrounds. The rear surrounds have a front firing driver and an up-firing driver. The main soundbar also has a pair of up firing drivers to provide the Atmos effect. The system has Bluetooth and voice assistance capability that can be set up in the Smart Things app. The main soundbar has a digital display window that shows that it is connected to eARC and there is a i button on the remote that allows you to toggle through to see what audio format is being played. It would be really convenient if the Smart Things app provided this information so you didn’t have to use the Samsung remote for this function. I have this system set up in my family room which is 17 X 25 feet with a vaulted ceiling. I originally set the rear speakers on a 30” tall console table behind my recliner and after some listening decided to buy adjustable speaker stands in order to raise the speakers higher and that has really improved the rear channel performance. One of the things that had been mentioned in reviews of the previous Q930B/C was the short power cables provided for the rear speakers at around 5 feet long. Samsung must have listened and now provides longer power cords for the rears which is a real plus. The subwoofer and main bar are still the shorter power cables though. As for sound this soundbar is amazing. I watched 5 Doby Vision/Atmos movies and the sound stage and height effects are incredible. The sound is full and very detailed. The bar has a dedicated center speaker so the voices are clear and detailed and the app allows you to enhance the voice level and works great. The subwoofer blends seamlessly with the bar and provides a lot of impact in the low end. The app allows you to adjust the subwoofer from -12 to +6 so there is a lot of flexibility. Samsung has a feature called SpaceFit sound that is supposed to analyze your room and set the system accordingly. I am not sure what this does exactly as I am used to room correction systems that use test tones to test the speakers and set distance and levels and this system does not do that. You either have it turned on or off. There are a number of other functions available including private rear sound for listening only to the rear speakers and sound grouping. I highly recommend going to the Samsung website and reviewing the full manual for this system as it provides very detailed information on all of the functions and options available. I have not experienced any dropouts or disconnection issues with this soundbar. If there were anything that would make the experience better would be a backlit remote and the ability to see the input/output of the sound profile in the app. The bottom line is this soundbar sounds incredible and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for the convenience and sound quality for whatever you are watching. Obviously, this isn’t the least expensive soundbar you can buy but of the ones I have it is by far the best. For the price of a good receiver, you get the whole package.

After some experimentation, using the handy remote I settled on the adaptive sound mode rather than surround or standard modes. I had to experiment because that topic is not covered in the aforementioned rather sparse documentation. I have not needed to alter that setting. The balance between speakers is set automatically so you won't need to fiddle with that - not that I'm sure you can. The remote allows you alter bass level and select the Bluetooth pairing option, but I had no interest in that because it sounds so good as it is.I listened to a variety of televised/streamed program content and music, a variety of CD music, and some Blu-ray DVD movies. In each instance, I heard more detailed, richer, and fuller sound with clearer voices from this soundbar than I thought possible. It is quite enjoyable and highly recommended.

This is the fourth iteration of the Samsung Q930 sound bar, which is the premium series of their products. The Q930 is only bested by the Q990 and has all the same features, just fewer speakers.Unboxing (the box is HUGE) and setup was straight forward. Everything needed is included, five speakers, power cords, remote and a HDMI cord. I liked that wall-mount hardware was also included for the soundbar but not for the rear speakers. The sub and rear speakers are wireless, needing only a power outlet, which is really nice - allowing much more freedom for placement. For connectivity, the Q930D has two HDMI 2.1 ports, and an Optical Digital input. It also has bluetooth Apple AirPlay and Wi-Fi. Additionally, the Q930D has Alexa, Chromecast and Bixby built in.Of course (thankfully), there’s an app for that! The Samsung SmartThings app, in my opinion, is needed for this sound system. Connecting the Q930D to the app was simple and fast, just start the app and follow the prompts - the soundbar popped up almost immediately. The remote control appears to be pretty simple but there are numerous “hidden” keys that require the soundbar to be off and the keys to be held for five seconds to access the features including voice feedback and the 7-band equalizer. The downside to using the remote is the four character dot display is difficult to read for anything other than the two-digit volume level as longer items scroll across the display. The Samsung Q930 has great sound and provides options to mold it to your taste - a seven band equalizer, Active Voice Amplifier, SpaceFit Sound and Q-Symphony. You can adjust the volume separately for the soundbar, sub and rear speakers as well. The volume control goes to 100 but the highest I’ve had so far is only 25. Bass is deep and room filling. The rear speakers fire both upwards and out filling the room. Atmos programming sounds like you’re in the middle of the action. The Q930D is replacing a Bose Ultra and while that sounded great, there really is no comparison to having actual rear speakers and a subwoofer. There are four preset sound modes, standard, surround, game mode and adaptive sound and three preset equalizer choices, jazz, pop and classical. You do have full control of the equalizer but only in the standard sound mode. There is also a simple eq with just bass and treble. There is an option to place the surround speakers in the front or rear. You can use Private Rear Sound to turn off the soundbar sound for a quieter rear speaker only listening experience. You can also Sound Grouping to group them when listening to music for a fuller group experience. While the Q930D will work with any setup, there are a few features that only work with Samsung televisions/phones - wireless Dolby Atmos, Q-Symphony, Group Play and Tap Sound.Other than the minimal display and dual function remote buttons I am impressed with the looks and sounds from the Samsung Q930D and recommend it.

We highly anticipated this new Samsung sound system because our previous sound system was an 14 year old ONKYO 7 1nd 1 system comprised of a center front speaker, a left front speaker, a right front speaker, a left middle speaker, a right middle speaker, a back left speaker, a back right speaker, and a sub woofer bass speaker. The main component head unit was over sized and the speakers way too big and unsightly and all the speakers were connected via wires to the head unit. We had 5 devices connected to our head unit (i.e. in from cable box, in from gaming unit, in from our Roku streaming unit, in from blue ray player, out to television). The new Samsung having wireless speakers would allow us to place them where we desired and never before could place them and as well the sound bar was small and sleek and promised big surround sound. Unboxing the new Samsung system was easy and straight forward, so was blue tooth pairing, but imagine our surprise when we discovered that this very expensive system only had one hdmi in port, so we could hook up our cable box and watch live local t.v. but no streaming the HBO MAX, Paramount Plus, Vudu, and Amazon we pay a monthly subscription for, no playing video games, no watching movies on our blue ray player. How ridiculous ! None the less we hooked everything up and was again very disappointed by the sound quality in both surround sound during a movie and as well during music videos. This was in our 9'high x 14'wide x 22'deep living room, which to fill that room with the equivalent audio volume of the ONKYO at 25% volume we have to have the Samsung on 75% volume. What we had thought would be new state of the art technology of great sound in a small package was actually very little sound in a cheap sounding little package for a high price tag. So for 2 completely different and unsurmountable reasons (poor sound quality and being unable to connect more than one device) we packed the Samsung system back up into its box and stuffed it into a closet which I guess is where it will sit until maybe we put a television in the garage and then we could put the Samsung audio system there. Thankfully we still had the ONKYO to put back in the living room. We just can't get it through our heads why Samsung would build such a high priced item that is supposedly such a high end item that only allows you to connect one inputted device and sounds like crap sound quality wise. Its as if Samsung built this trying to frustrate customers and thereby garner the worse possible reviews. We wouldn't recommend this audio system to our worse enemy let alone to any of our friends or family. SHAME ON YOU SAMSUNG.

[Rewarded Review] Great addition to your big screen tv

I recently added to my home entertainment systems this Samsung Q930D soundbar. I have last year's model, the Q930C in another room and have really like it. From what I can tell, there's really no discernable difference between the two.First off, the setup was a breeze. The instructions were straightforward, and I had it up and running in no time. Just like the previous model, the design is sleek and modern, fitting seamlessly into my living room setup without taking up too much space. Now, onto the most important aspect – the sound quality. The clarity and depth of the sound produced by this soundbar is pretty impressive. Whether I'm watching action movies or listening to music, the audio is crisp and immersive. The dialogue enhancement feature is particularly impressive, making it much easier to understand dialog. With Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, I can easily stream music from my phone or laptop without any hassle. The included subwoofer adds an extra punch to the bass, enhancing the overall audio experience. It's not overpowering, but it adds just the right amount of depth to movie soundtracks and music tracks alike. Just don't expect booming bass listening to music. For movies, thunder, explosions, etc. it's plenty adequate for a soundbar setup though.Overall, the Samsung Q930D series soundbars have exceeded my expectations in terms of sound quality, ease of use, and connectivity options. If you're looking to elevate your home entertainment setup, I highly recommend giving this soundbar a try.

[Rewarded Review] I hear voices now - not just the ones in my head.
10 July 2024

I'm a 62 year old trumpet player having sat in front of the percussion section in high school, college and community bands and orchestras for about 50 years.I have hearing loss typical for a person of my age but don't need hearing aids. I've had trouble with higher pitched voices for the last 15 or so years (female and younger people voices). While I don't "need" hearing aids, I was able to use headphones (I think I have about 7 pairs) that would help me with the higher pitched voices.I was trying to downsize for a move, and got rid of my atmos receiver and 15 speakers. I've had a sound bar before but it wasn't clear enough to hear the higher voices.I took a chance on this sound bar because I've always liked Samsung's quality - way better than their competitor ... MoreI'm a 62 year old trumpet player having sat in front of the percussion section in high school, college and community bands and orchestras for about 50 years.I have hearing loss typical for a person of my age but don't need hearing aids. I've had a sound bar before but it wasn't clear enough to hear the higher voices.I took a chance on this sound bar because I've always liked Samsung's quality - way better than their competitor that also has an "s" name.I was THRILLED to find a setting called "Active Voice Amplifier" which amplifies the dialogue if there is a sound disturbance for more than 3 seconds (here's a link for their description - https://www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/active-voice-amplifier-on-samsung-tvs/).That's a really nice setting. But wait, there's more...You can also set "Voice Enhancement" on to amplify the dialogue.Oh, you can also customize the 7 band equalizer which can also be used to amplify the higher pitched sounds. And then, you can also adjust the channel levels of the center, side, wide and front top speakers. You can also adjust the level of the rear spears for both the front and top speakers and you can even set up the rear speakers to be used instead of the front speakers for some type of privacy or night time viewing. All of these settings are great and I haven't relied on my headphones at all since buying the sound bar about a month ago.Oh, Oh - the soundwoofer is also awesome with nice clear and strong bass. The whole unit was able to fill a 20 by 20 foot living room with a vaulted ceiling with great sound from all over the room and most importantly, dialogue that I can hear without having to turn up the volume, put on headphones or worse - close captioning...Thank you Samsung and Best Buy !!!Oh, Oh, Oh - the remote that comes with the unit sucks and the 1 inch by 1 inch display on the face of the sound bar sucks worse. You will need a smartphone and an app called Q-Series Soundbar which is great but can be a little confusing - watch youtube videos. The app will check for any firmware updates and allow you to set up the unit much easier than the remote and tiny display. That was the reason for the 4 star Ease of Use rating. Also, there is 1 eARC HDMI connection and only 1 HDMI input. I connected the eARC HDMI to my TV and my streaming device to the soundbar. I also plugged in my PS5 and my Media Server (PC) to the HDMI connectors on the TV which all work fine with the ARC setting (my TV doesn't have eARC - but everything is working just fine). Here's a thought, maybe an onscreen display and better remote control - how about a universal/programmable remote???Did I mention the sound quality is awesome - crystal clear highs, punchy base and strong middles - this is important to me because I'm a musician (amateur - not good enough to go pro)...Sorry for the long rant, but I've been unemployed for over a year and I'm bored...

[Rewarded Review] Phenomenal Wireless Sound
20 April 2024

I’ve used a lot of different Samsung products around the house, and they’ve made themselves a competing force not to be ignored in the sound department. There’s something to be said for actual surround sound instead of speakers systems that try to emulate the same. This is the full package. You get the sound bar and wall mounting equipment for optional wall mounting. The two stylish rear speakers that provide up firing sound, and a hefty, yet slim subwoofer that generates impressive bass. What’s great is a mostly wireless home theatre. You just plug them into a power source and for me they connected automatically.Wireless Atmos sounds fantastic. You’d think being wireless, there would be a lot of interference, or mild delay that has everything ever so slightly ... MoreI’ve used a lot of different Samsung products around the house, and they’ve made themselves a competing force not to be ignored in the sound department. There’s something to be said for actual surround sound instead of speakers systems that try to emulate the same. The two stylish rear speakers that provide up firing sound, and a hefty, yet slim subwoofer that generates impressive bass. What’s great is a mostly wireless home theatre. You just plug them into a power source and for me they connected automatically.Wireless Atmos sounds fantastic. You’d think being wireless, there would be a lot of interference, or mild delay that has everything ever so slightly out of sync. That’s not the case. When I got everything placed and plugged in, wireless syncing just happened. I did have to swap the left and right rear speakers but that was just me not figuring out which one was which beforehand. There are buttons on the back which I presume is for pairing if needed but I didn’t have to mess with those.Wireless aside, you do get Dolby Atmos sound which offers crisp clear sound, the rear speakers are upward firing as well as some of the speakers in the soundbar, and there’s no substitute for a subwoofer that delivers deep, felt bass, that shakes the room at it’s highest settings. When watching movies you get sounds all around you which is really neat. It has a neat way of making sounds that are supposed to be far away sound far away and sounds up close are loud and punchy. The remote is sleek and easy to use. The sound bar has a LED screen imbedded behind the mesh which provides a read out of which input your using, volume setting, or what setting your adjusting. Using the remote to change settings or input is intuitive and easy to do. There are also 4 buttons on the sound bar itself but the remote opens more options. You can go a step further and use the SmartThings app from Samsung and get a nice app interface to even further customize. You can use SmartThings app to change modes, control volume, adjust the equalizer, turn on and off different sound enhancements, depending on your preferences. After initial setup in the app, you get the soundbar connected to your wi-fi which allows features like voice assistant, air play, and Chromecast. I’ve not been a huge fan of the SmartThings app when using for other devices, but what I will say, it works well accessing and changing the soundbar’s settings.Outside of the easy wireless setup, mounting the hardware was simple too. There are brackets that attach to the sound bar to allow them to slot into the spacers on the drywall anchors. I would have liked to have seen included wall anchors, but luckily I had some laying around. I did like the included wall diagram to help with the proper spacing of the wall screws. In conclusion, this is a fantastic soundbar and there’s not much to critique here. I would have liked wider compatibility for the Q-Symphony and the wireless Atmos. Pairing the Samsung soundbar with a Samsung TV would have unlocked all the features, but my TV was not of the same brand. While I was able to get great sound over Bluetooth, I had to direct my TV to re-establish connection when it powered on and off. These minor marks are by no means a deal breaker, as it works fantastically over HDMI eARC, which I imagine is how most people will connect these. Overall, people should pick this for it’s excellent sound, easy setup, and amazing value for premium ear candy.

[Rewarded Review] Sounds amazing!

I have had a Vizio 5.1 surround sound, sound bar set up for like... 8 years now. The price was right and I needed something decent, It has perfectly served its purpose. Now that I have a bit more to spend on something better, I did my research and decided to go with the 930D over the more expensive 990D. I understand that the 990D is "better" but I am not sure its $500 better. I could be wrong, but I do not have an extra $500 to determine that. Now, the sound from the 930D is absolutely amazing, the surround effect is brilliant, the Dolby Atmos is definitely there. As someone who is new to the Atmos stuff, I was not sure what to expect. Obviously a sound bar is not going to be on the same level as a full blown home theater setup. As someone who is new to the Atmos stuff, I was not sure what to expect. Obviously a sound bar is not going to be on the same level as a full blown home theater setup. BUT this thing puts out a great sound stage, no the Atmos is like... OMG I FEEL LIKE IM IN THE MOVIE, but it absolutely creates a much better surround sound and feel than just some regular satellite speakers. You feel more in tune with the sounds that are around you, rather than just hearing the movie or video game from the back right corner, you hear a soundstage behind you that brings it to life much better. You get more detail from the sound, rather just just hearing sounds (if that makes any sense). One think to note though. The subwoofer, for whatever reason wont adjust its level through the remote. I have done all kinds of trouble shooting, went to the Samsung website and did the whole speak with someone deal. Googled as much as I could about the matter. It seems that you have to update the firmware of the sound bar via downloading it and using a flash drive, or downloading the Samsung smart things app and connecting the sound bar to your wifi so it can update the firmware. Even after the update I cannot adjust the level of the subwoofer via the included remote. I have to use the smart things app to control it, and if I happen to hit the subwoofer button on the remote it will set it back to zero, undoing what I changed in the app. The app allows you full control of your sound bar, but this is kind of a weird thing to have to do given the included remote SHOULD function as expected. The set up was easy enough. For me I used the eARC from my TV to the sound bar, it works flawlessly. You have to be mindful of where you put the satellite speakers because they are wireless and must be plugged into an electrical outlet to have power. Plug in the sub, all speakers should have a flashing blue light, then you hold the up on the directional pad of the remote and the sound bar will show text saying that it synced all speakers. This is a little more involved than just setting the stuff up and plugging it all in, due to the wireless aspect and having to sync all of the speakers. Might be a pro, might be a con, just depends on how you feel about it.All in all the 930D gives off amazing sound and I am glad I am able to now experience Dolby Atmos without having to buy and set up a much more complicated home theater speaker build.

Hi, I'm Lynda and my life is an endless battle between my miserly nature and a craving for high-quality items. This hit the sweet spot, as it was not cheap but it has (so far!) proven to be worth every penny spent.I am not tech nerdy at all, so can't review with specs and data. All I can do is share purchase experience from the perspective of a 50-something woman who needed a sound system that would "just work" without needing a lot of know how to make it so. Download the app and it walks you through the process. I was even a bit wowed by how well it was packaged. I have arthritis in my hands and was able to unbox by myself with no profanities uttered. My top desired feature was improved dialogue, as my 75-year old dad was not fully enjoying his shows and movies. There is pleasing crispness to the sound that all have appreciated and Dad hasn't needed to use closed captioning since this purchase. It's nice to see him able to scroll on his phone, as he enjoys, and also following along with his show.Another reason I love this item: it works great even if conditions aren't optimal. We live in an old house with features that don't lend to home theater success (our viewing room has archways on two walls and one opens into a tall foyer and stairway) so I had managed expectations for how well this would work for an immersive experience. I'm very impressed. For sports and movies it is much like being there in person. I imagine it is probably more incredible in a better designed room, but this is pretty awesome.
