I have numerous Thinstincts items. These are not the same at all. The fabric and compression are completely different. These have shiny fabric and tight compression. I couldn't even get these on. I am extremely disappointed, as I wanted to wear these to work every day.

Originally bought Skims mid waist mid thigh shaper. I ended up returning them. I asked a SA what other product she recommended. I need it more for support/slimming since I’ve lost weight. Wore it under a formal gown and not once did it roll from the waist or rise from the thighs. It did what I wanted it to do and I was comfortable. Did not felt “tight/squished”. After the event, I ordered the black color.

I don't know who does the sizing on these, but I normally wear a medium (because of my waist after menopause instead of a small like before) and needed to go up to an XL for them to feel the least bit comfortable and still do their job. Other than that, they sure do pull everything in so I look like a size 4-6. Very flat tummy and a defined waist. I bought the nude color which is pretty pale.

This have changed, it used to be seamless! Now there is a thick elastic on top which makes it impossible to wear this over silk or any thin fabric. Unfortunately I can't return them because I had to cut the tags for my events. I will have to take it to a tailor and hope they can cut the elastic without ruin the Spanx material.
I really love how thin and silky the material is for these Spanx Thinstincts girl shorts. It makes pants/skirts glide up easily and makes me feel sexy when I put it in. I chose to size up to XL for less compression since I’m new to shape wear and there is no bulging/squeezing at my tummy/waist. The XL also do not ride up in the thigh area. I’ve worn this a couple times all day without any discomfort. For reference I’m 5’3” 135lbs. I wear this mostly for smoothing and tummy control rather than compression shaping. I’m thinking about buying another size down in L just to get more shaping when I need to squeeze into something tighter.
These are the best! I was diagnosed with Neurogenic Hypotension earlier this year. Per Doc need to wear compression all day long, except to sleep. These work! They compress, but not uncomfortable and during summer they are the least hot out of all the many different ones I've tried. I wear them with shorts and dresses. No lines so you can't see them under clothing and they don't ride up. I also have the capri length for cooler weather. I tried other brands to see if I could get by and save some $$ but ended up buying more of these.
I never thought that I would be looking at SPANX, but it happened. I bought a pair of light green pants in a thin fabric. Panty lines showed. I couldn’t bring myself to wear a thong (been there, done that,) or pantyhose (who wears that anymore?)The lovely lady at Bloomies showed me the thinnest mid-thigh SPANX in an XS sizeI am sold! Totally forgot that I was wearing a “body control” garment.Will wear them with a lot of clothes.
About 4-5 years ago I brought an earlier version of Thinstincts. I liked the earlier version a lot, but this version is MUCH better. The leg length is longer and doesn't roll up; the tummy control is a bit stronger but not restrictive and the waist stays put. If you are straight waisted or are a bit "fluffy" through the middle, you may not like how this shaper fits you. It fits snug on the waist and it could cause muffin top. Most of my "fluff" is in the hips and little in the tummy. I'm very pleased with this shaper so far.
These were really comfortable to wear, they were not super hard to get on either which was good because there are some brands out there that are! I felt quite supported in the areas I needed and they didn’t roll down or up for that matter. I usually wear a size 16 but I got the 14 because they seemed to sit better. Very happy with this item.
I was super obsessed with the original version. They worked great at smoothing me out under a tight dress but the material was SO thin that I had to replace the item every few months because the material inevitably ripped, despite handling it with kid gloves. This version is seriously awesome. Still very thin (and unnoticeable under a tight dress) but more durable. Prayers answered. Thank you Spanx!
