After the mixed reviews I decided I would give these a go as my boobs/nips get a bit sore pumping. It reduces the suction, and milk gets trapped in between the ****** and insert creating noise, bubbles, mess and even less suction.

The inserts do not fit securely and prevents effective suction. This caused milk leakage and some discomfort.

I got the massage inserts as a way to improve the comfort of my pump. With my first baby, I used the Spectra S2 pump, and I hated how painful pumping was. This time around, I got the Ameda Mya, but the Spectra flanges are compatible. With the Ameda flanges, my nipples are pulled into the tunnel, but I need the pump turned up twice as hard as I do without them. I had high hopes for these. I'm between sizes, with the Spectra 20 mm being a bit small and the 24 mm being a bit big. Despite the promise of increased milk flow and better sizing neither of these things happened. I couldn't get any suction and nipple wouldn't pull into the flange. I would just throw them away but maybe they will work for a future round of breastfeeding/pumping.
If you pump hands free (using a pumping bra) these don't hold suction very well at all, however, if you have your hands available to hold firm against the breast, then the suction is fine. I couldn't say whether they made much of a difference because I pump hands free while I work, so after a few minutes, couldn't keep holding them against me. Also found it kind of difficult to keep the insert properly positioned to keep suction up. These may work for those that hold the pumps to them the whole time, but they weren't right for me.
I know that I need a silicone attachment to my breast pump flanges. The cold plastic just doesn’t do enough for me. The silicone massager goes around your plastic flange. It is so much more comfortable and just changes the way your pump suctions. I could not have a positive breastfeeding journey without this piece.
I wanted these to work since I have small nipples. They leaked like crazy and I had really really low output. I had ignored other negative reviews, but they were right. Waste of money and time.
These just don’t work at all. The few drops of milk that came out will pumping got caught between the ****** and the insert. Took them off and pumped 80mLs. Tried 3 times, no improvement
Doesn’t work! I bought it off Spectra’s website, accidentally bought one and I couldn’t change or cancel my order. It took 2 weeks to get to me and I can’t return it because I opened the packaging. Glad I only bought one…
A lot of other reviews were very bad for these massagers, so I was hesitant to try them, but they worked great for me.Suction was great. I got 2.5 oz mid afternoon (which is good for me... I’ve struggled with milk production the entire time)No leakage like other reviews said.... you have to make sure the massagers are fully over the shields and that you are sitting up. If you lean back, I can see how you might get leakage.Very comfortable. Boobies feel nicely massaged. Lol.Maybe it depends on breast size and shape? I have smaller boobs (pre milk a/b, and now b/c) and smaller nipples. If you have big nipples, these won’t work well because they make the 25/28mm shield into 20mm size.Hope this helps!Good luck with your milk making endeavors!
