I’ve been using Speedplay pedals on my road bike for 20+ years. Wahoo cleats have straight forward installation on shoe bottoms then crisp in/out engagement on pedals. Never an accidental slip out or a challenge to lock in. The transition to Wahoo is a non-factor - in fact, now better packaging and I much prefer the black to previous yellow. Ride on!

The cleat itself is first class. The tension is appropriate for experienced cyclists. However, I need the plate and extra long screws for use with my Powerlink pedals (so that my shoe has proper clearance from the pedal). I have emailed and called Wahoo many times in order to purchase the plate and screws but they do not respond to my request other than to say these items may appear on the Wahoo website in the future. So I cannot use the cleats with my Powerlink pedals without the plates. Any help would be appreciated.

These cleats do what they supposed to do. However, it’s a shame Wahoo jacked up the prices. Cleats will need replacing. Wahoo knows you’re locked into the platform once you buy the pedals. They then take advantage of this to charge an inflated, super high margin price. As a pricing professional, I get it. As a customer, it makes me think about moving away. With Speedplays on five bikes, it would hurt, but I hate being taken.

I’ve only had these a few weeks now so it’ll be interesting to see how long before the horseshoe clip snaps at the end on the right shoe (the one I mainly use). A trait/design fault I had with the Speedplay Zero series. They are very good pedals with good connection/disconnection and sensitivity but they do have this annoying weakness. Otherwise they would have had 5 stars.
I've been riding speedplays for almost 20 years. These new style cleats are a bit stiffer to get in and out with, although maybe that's just because they are new. Took me a little while to get used the higher effort required to click out. The integral rubber covers are a huge improvement over the old metal cleats, which were really hard to walk in.
Looks like Wahoo did some good improvements: Partly assembled so easier to just screw them on and go. The 2pc cleat covers fit more snugly so we'll see if they tend to fall off like the old ones. I've had these Wahoo cleats for about a month now..I've been running Speedplays for over 10 yrs because of leg joint problems with other designs.
I got these for my husband. He has been using Speedplay Zero pedals for over ten years as he really likes the pedal engagement and generous float they offer. If the pedal cleats are properly lubed and cleaned regularly they will last a long time. He bought this second set of cleats for shoes used on his indoor trainer. Not the cheapest cleat around, but well worth the money.
Solid performance, but priceyI have used speedplay for years. I prefer the build and appearance of the newer Wahoo versions over the original pedals, the use of more metal in the body seems to be lasting longer.I have had no issues with play in the bearings yet, but am aware this is an issue for some.Performance remains consistent and smooth, only the price knocks these down a little
I've had a problem with the springs breaking every 6-8 months on these cleats. And, that is having two pairs of shoes that I interchange regularly (one white pair and one black pair to match my kits). I ride about 8K miles per year, so the springs in each set of cleats are breaking with about 2K-3K miles.I've been riding these Speedplay pedals/cleats for over 20 years, and just recently seem to be having this problem in the last 3-4 years. And, buying the cleats are not cheap. It's made me consider buying new pedals, but I have Speedplay on several of my bikes, and that switch would take a significant investment.
The cleats do not work! I have used speedplay pedals since 1992. The new cleats quality control is terrible and do not work at all. I am very familiar with installing the cleat design and weigh 92 kg. I can't clip into the pedals at all deeming the use of the pedals useless. I now have to negotiate with my local CDN bike shop to get a refund. Wahoo needs to re-engineer their cleats with appropriate quality control and give replacement cleats to all who have purchased the standard tension cleat.
