Spirit Island - Jagged Earth
Built high on cliffs overlooking the confluence of two rivers, Gurthap Keep was a bastion of strength and a haven for the Cult of the Red God. Here, priests of old sacrificed over the tomb of long dead Kha M Thir, honoring him for his long service to the Red God. At last the rangers gathered against the Cult and overthrew it. They drove them from their walls and those they did not slay, fled. The castle has sat thus ever since, a grim testament to the gods of the old world. The forest has consumed it and only the memories of men keep it alive. But beyond its abandoned walls lie the shadows of yesteryear. For the tomb of Kah M Thir was never found and the secrets of the priests of the Red God never fully revealed. Falls the Divide is an adventure for 3-5 characters of mid-level range.

I would say that, as of 11-2023, this expansion for Spirit Island is the best regarding content per money spent value: 10 spirits; 2 adversaries; 3 scenarios; 23 Majors; 33 Minors and more. Not to mention the expansion from four to six players. If you're considering buying this expansion, first and foremost, you should be asking yourself if your usual friend group is entranced by the game too. It was my first expansion, and it should certainly be yours if you would like to grant access to more people during one same session. Not only does it expand the player count, it also grants you access to the Nature Incarnate expansion, which can not be played without Jagged Earth. The only doubt that should hold you back from buying this expansion is hesitation on whether ... MoreI would say that, as of 11-2023, this expansion for Spirit Island is the best regarding content per money spent value: 10 spirits; 2 adversaries; 3 scenarios; 23 Majors; 33 Minors and more. Not to mention the expansion from four to six players. If you're considering buying this expansion, first and foremost, you should be asking yourself if your usual friend group is entranced by the game too. Imagine yourself in 1 year. Will your friends still ask: "Can we play that game with the spirits?" If so, and if it's also a personal favourite, then hesitation should already be small, as it was for me.

Spirit Island is already a fantastic game that's very replayable, but Jagged Earth adds some exciting new spirits as well as additional event, fear and blight cards (which might be available in Branch & Claw, I'm not sure) that take the game up a notch. The tokens are also a great addition (again, I think they first made their appearance in Branch & Claw, but here's a good place to get them as well). If you're wanting an expansion with the new elements of the game plus a lot of great spirits, JE is a no-brainer.

This expansion is designed to give those who have played the game a lot and are looking for a more advanced way to play. It makes use of the new mechanics that were introduced in the Branch and Claw expansion, but turns things up to 11. The new spirits are very complicated and offer all-new ways to play the game. Even the easiest of the new spirits is on part with some of the most complex ones from other versions of the game though, making this expansion certainly aimed at advanced players.I would say that beginners or those who like the game, but do not love it can skip this one as the base game and Branch and Claw offer plenty of variety. Save this one for those who love the game and have played it a ton and are looking to boost up the challenge for themselves.

If you've just bought the base game, this is not necessary unless your gaming group tends to be 5-6 players. Even then, I'm not sure how great Spirit Island is at high player counts. If you're getting bored with the base game, though, this is perfect to breathe new life into the game.
Spirit Island's Jagged Earth Expansion successfully expands upon the base game, introducing new mechanics and spirits that add a fresh layer of complexity to an already deep and engaging gameplay experience. Fans of the original game will find plenty to love here, and the new spirits are a particular highlight, providing exciting new ways to interact with the island and its inhabitants. Overall, Jagged Earth is a must-have for any Spirit Island fan looking to take their game to the next level.
Excellent! More spirits & scenarios, obviously nice. But so far I've been playing with the element tokens and the no-events variant when I'm with new players. Those are really nice when having Branch & Claw mixed in and not wanting the overhead of events (and separately the element tokens are a nice way to keep track). Not sure I'll get it to the table with six players but I appreciate the option and the new island boards!
Branch and Claw is a small pack that adds a few things, but Jagged Earth is huge. The box is the same size as the core box, doubles the number of available Spirits to choose from, adds new enemy options, and brings a whole new level of complexity to your games if you want it. It also adds the extra boards and player pieces to go up to 5 or 6 player games.
This expansion is amazing, if a little daunting! I heartily recommend it for the extra layers of complexity, replayability and options it offers, but I would also make sure that you are VERY comfortable with the base game first because this adds a ton to the mix.
There are currently two expansions available, jagged earth is the dearer one. However it adds a huge depth to the game its not just new gods it is also new game play. It does increase complexity but is well worth it. I would still play the base game if teaching new players but will use the expansion with everyone else.
This expansion adds adversaries, new play areas, new spirits, and new scenarios. Basically, everything to love about Spirit Island and just more of it. It incorporates with the Branch and Claw expansion and includes ways to play with some or all expansions in the series. This is how expansions should be handled.
