Splendor Game
The European Renaissance opened up more ways of becoming rich than the continent had ever known before. New frontiers were emerging throughout America, Africa, and Asia. Global trade routes became a reality. Nobles once content with large castles and fur robes now sought dark sapphires and glittering diamonds. Craftsmen ceased working with iron and began shaping gold; merchants turned their attention away from spices and towards gemstones. Take on the role of a Renaissance merchant striving to become rich in Splendor, a fast, elegant, and intuitive game for two to four players. You begin by collecting raw gems, then use those to fund the development of mines throughout the world. Once you've mined more gemstones, you will need the means to transport them, artisans to shape them, and finally a storefront where you can sell your polished jewels. If you produce exactly the right jewelry, a powerful noble may become your patron. The player whose jewelry business earns the most prestige wins!

This rules of this game are simple to learn, but even with few rules the game takes some fun strategizing. It is great for experienced gamers or friends who might not be that into games. It is a nice quick game lasting usually about 30 minutes. The pieces are a nice quality and honestly so satisfying to collect and move. I also have the expansion packs to this game which are fun, but the base game is probably still my favorite to play.

It's tough to find a great, repetitive two-player game, right? Wait no longer! Splendor is excellent. I normally play this on the weekends with my girlfriend. The game play will change with three or four players as well, so your strategy is always changing! Highly recommend!

Love this game! I played it at a friends house with a group and just HAD to buy one for myself. I love that I can play it with just my husband or with a whole group for game night. It’s a fun strategic game that’s easy to understand. I caught on pretty quickly and won a round, coming close in the others. The game definitely pulls out your competitive side in the most fun way. Highly recommended to all!!

Simple premise and game engine. Surprising variety of tactics/strategies can be applied but very easy to pick up and play. My 7 year old had the principals mastered in about 1 or 2 rounds of play. Easy to play it nice and Basic with the whole family or apply more 'sabotage' to other players with a grown-up audience. Whole family found it very addictive!
My husband and I really like this game. There aren't too many rules and so it is easy to pick up on, teach new players, and to play quickly. This game takes about 30-45 minutes depending on the number of players you have. The game itself is of great quality! The tokens are heavy and feel like they'll last a long time. The cards are nice and since they don't get held often they're less likely to be bent or damaged. There is a spot in the box for each item which helps keep the game well organized. I definitely recommend this game for those looking for a strategy game that isn't too intense.
My family has a huge collection of board games. When we borrowed Splendor from a friend we had to add it as everyone from us parents, my 12, 10, and 6 year old all enjoyed it. We love that it is easy to set up and quick to play. Simple to teach so when people come over it is an easy one to get out without overwhelming inexperienced players. Each turn you either select chips or buy cards with your chips. The first person to collect enough points wins.
Really fun game! We bought this game after a few members of our family played at a friend's house. My 17 year old son, who hates playing board games with us, was forced to play for a family game night and ended up really enjoying it (winning might have had something to do with it). There are several strategies that you can go with, and it's always fun to watch others' strategy. We just got the game and have played twice in 3 days. My only issues are that it's designed for up to 4 players and I think that's restrictive (we have 5 in our family). A fun game like this should allow for more players. Also, the base price is kind of expensive, but I got mine on Clearance at a Target store for $20. However, it's really nicely packaged and is very good quality. My daughter, ... MoreReally fun game! Good game for 2 to 4 people. Has some strategy. We, and several of our friends and family enjoy it.It takes about the right amount of time to play to keep the interest, but we might make our own rule to go to 19 or 21 points to win since so many cards remain unused and sometimes it seems to end so abruptly right when I am getting close to having enough points to win. (However, by keeping the winning amount at 15 points it keeps the game shorter so I am more inclined to play an additional game or two, so . . . ?) There is competition to in that one may want to keep an eye on the other players color (gems) and points accumulation in order to slow their progress. It's a good game. As a family, we're fairly recent converts to Splendor but we love it. It takes a couple of run-throughs to really get it but once you're over the initial learning hump, it's a great strategy game. Our family now has a crown that the Chief Jeweller (defending champion) gets to wear. :) Superb value and entertainment.
What I got from Tractor Supply was the good version of the game with the high quality weighted "poker" chips. Surprisingly to me, Tractor Supply of all places is the best place to buy this particular board game. The print quality on all components (box, cards, nobles, and chips) are significantly better in all regards compared to what you get when you buy from other online retailers (specifically speaking about the one that starts with an A and is named after a jungle).Speaking of which, AVOID most other retailers! The version of the game that I bought from the "online jungle store" is cheap crap that I ended up returning (and it was directly from Space Cowboys, and not from a third party seller) . Every single component was cheaply made. The chips were light weighted thin plastic that was warped and with the gem stickers peeling off, and all ALL the components had bad print quality that was blurry and desaturated. So again, I would avoid other retailers, and I would recommend Tractor Supply for this particular product.
