Honestly a great beginner-intermediate level 5-string bass. Overall feels very nice to play, considering the price and the pickups provide an excellent sound even on the low B string. Of course you get a bit of hiss when the strings aren't grounded by your fingers but that is to be expected from single coils. The frets are comfortable from factory, tuning pegs work well, and the control knobs feel solid and smooth; I'm surprised when even some US Fenders can't get their knobs to stay on. Upon arrival it only required a bit of basic setup work but a professional setup on this instrument really pushes it into that intermediate level of quality. The finish on the neck leaves a little to be desired airing closer to a matt finish and very thin making it feel very 'dry' ... MoreHonestly a great beginner-intermediate level 5-string bass. The finish on the neck leaves a little to be desired airing closer to a matt finish and very thin making it feel very 'dry' to the touch which is a bit uncomfortable for those of us who are used to a more thick and glossy finish. Other small things I've noticed is how loose the input jack feels allowing it to jiggle around quite a lot, having only one groove in per saddle not allowing for horizontal adjustment of the strings at the bridge, and having the truss rod adjustment at the headstock making it almost impossible to access with the provided Allen key whilst the middle A string is on. Despite all these minor discrepancies, I'm impressed at how well this instrument plays and sounds for only a little over $300AUD and would make a great guitar for anyone who wants to take their bass playing seriously without needing to sell their old 2006 Toyota Corolla to do so.

I have played Fender guitars before, but cannot justify owning one. I’m a “bedroom” player; they deserve to be in professional hands, on a stage. Hence, I defer to the Squier brand. But honestly, I can hardly tell the difference! (as I’ve said, I am certainly no expert) Astonishing value for the price!!! I just love it…

Overall:First of all, the sales experience was a breeze. My bass showed up this morning, a day and a half after I ordered it. Packing was spot on, and the instrument was unblemished. The Olympic White finish is gorgeous, about the color of vanilla pudding. The maple fretboard is a striking contrast and the neck is comfortable and quick.Set up and intonation we're spot on and the neck is true.Hardware is workmanlike and attractive. The pickups are typical Jazz Bass. From a ringing bell like high to thumping lows, this one will do it all. I've already had her slinging Classic Rock and Blues and she performed.I'd have gladly paid twice what I did for this bass. If you're on the fence, get one. Yesterday!

I bought this bass knowing that I was going to mod it. It is the perfect mod platform, there are literally thousands of parts to choose from. Since mostly everything is a direct fit for this bass, I did 90% of the work myself. It sounds great!!! Make sure you oil the fretboard and neck down with lemon oil, it really adds a richness to your notes. I added Delano pickups, audere jz3 preamp, kickass bridge and a new pick guard.
Sounds really good, on par with higher end Fender Jazz basses. Im going to have to get a setup as the strings were pretty high on it from about the 9th fret on up. Just think it needs a simple saddle adjustment, no issues with the neck being out of whack that i can tell. Plus i want to throw some DR Black Beauties on it anyway because the strings that came on it are pretty brutal, kind of like rubbing your fingers on a small cheese grater, like really crappy strings on this thing but thats usually the case on low end guitars so not unexpected. a Brand new Jazz bass? Its a classic sound that never has gone out of style and for 200 bills, its no brainer. Slap some good strings on it and get it setup how you like and youre ready to thump whump and bump some sweet low ... MoreSounds really good, on par with higher end Fender Jazz basses. Slap some good strings on it and get it setup how you like and youre ready to thump whump and bump some sweet low end into the universe. Stock pickups sound great. neck smooth and easy to navigate. The unfinished feel on the back of the neck is great...no clear coat to grab your hand as you slide up and down. Baby smooth feel. Knobs rotate easily and smoothly and the ability to tweak two pickups with two volume knobs together or independently opens it up for a host of sounds to choose from and all the variations i came up with sounded totally usable for a myriad of situations and styles of music. Best 200 bucks ive ever spent!
I bought this bass because of its design. It has the Highway One tuners and not the cheap tuners found on the Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V. The finish looks good on the bass and the neck is perfect in regards to fret leveling, no sharp edges from fret sprout, its straight and plays well. The electronics are a bit weak but I expected that when I bought it. I personally don't care for satin or non finished neck which this one is. It does not look like it was finished at all. I can feel how open the wood feels. I knew up front when I purchased it I would plan to finish the neck in clear Lacquer or Polyurethane. I will also swap out the pickups with a set of Alnico ones. Though the bridge is fine I will swap out the bridge with a Hipshot #5K502C bridge. Once these things ... MoreI bought this bass because of its design. Once these things are done this bass with give any higher priced Fender a run for the money and I will have one that is tailored specifically to what I like in a bass. I would suggest this bass to anyone considering a 5 string.
I really like this bass. It's good looking, good sounding, and really well built. I didn't think it'd be that great because most people say Squier is bad, but this bass is awesome. The only parts I would think about replacing are the bridge and tuners (also the strings, but they're fine). The pickups are really nice.
I have had this bass for about 2 months now and as a guitar/piano player looking to dabble in electric bass, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Action was very high out of the box - almost unplayable. I put money down for a professional set-up and put on new Elixir strings and the bass is easy and enjoyable to play now - money well spent. The bass arrived with a very minor scuff on the neck and some of the frets ends do stick slightly, but nothing that affects playability or tone. No issues at all with the pickups, tuners, other hardware so far.
First bass that I have purchased that needed no adjustments!! Perfectly set up for me. Pickups really growl. I have 2 MIM jazzes. The neck on this more closely resembles the MIM than the Affinity. Got this for the look and just to practice but really really like it. Hate that the control panel and knobs are so cheap but definitely not sending it back!! Play with both volume controls maxed and tone backed off about 20%. This sounds awesome!! (Changed the knobs to some chrome ones that I already had)
First bass-dead pick up-put back on sales floor at full price! Second bass sent, dropped it priorto shipping, ok, I agree on discount (cosmetic damage). Still charged full price. Call GC aboutgear card charges, they agree I was overcharged but they can't do anything about it
