As a semi professional player, I love these guitars. Dollar for dollar they shine. The build quality and sound is equal to the standard Fenders, possibly even better than some. If you are a new player or beginner this guitar will suit you for many years, and if you are a touring player, I seriously suggest you consider something from the Squier range, the quality is amazing and the sound equal to the Fenders at a far more affordable price. I also own a classic 1978 Fender strat, so I do know what they should feel and sound like. Try a new Squier of any in the range, they will surprise you.Chris Phillips

This Jazzmaster is a great value - its simple, no nonsense layout makes for an uber-fun player. It arrived unopened & in good shape with no dings or blems. It was set-up pretty good frm the factory w/ pickups nicely situated (to strings) and almost in tune! The factory hardware (tuners/bridge) are pretty stable & the strings don't sound bad either. I played it for an hour or so and it held tuning really well - I was pleasantly surprised.Downlow: The factory pickups sound good through an AC30. The electronics = a little scratchy but no biggie though. This one's tone (capacitor) is respectable but could be better - both situations are easily addressed @ the same time. The urethane finish is well done & looks good - nice quality Maple neck is unfinished, which is ok - ... MoreThis Jazzmaster is a great value - its simple, no nonsense layout makes for an uber-fun player. The frets are level with no buzz or dead spots anywhere on the neck. I like the slightly fuller Jazzmaster neck over Fender's usual skinny-minnie necks. The bridge is sturdy and adjusted out well - easily intonated & height set (tools included). The string through body set-up is cool & its got a decent quality nut so = very respectable sustain combo.Overall I am very pleased! New strings & maybe mod it out eventually, but its very playable / enjoyable right off the shelf - as it sits. So we'll jst play on for now ~ Thanks again MF & Fender!

I own a lot of guitars. Strats, Tele's, Les Paul's, I had always wanted a Jag/Jazzmaster type guitar, butI didn't want to spend some five hundred, for something I would only use once in awhile. Also, I was turned off by that screwy tremolo system and all those crazy switches I just didn't need. This is just a plain simple Jazzmaster, two Humbucker pickups, three way switch, fixed bridge. And at two hundred, it won't break the bank. This was just what the doctor ordered. Guitar came well packed, with a set of Fender 009-042 strings. Like most guitars coming from the factory these days, it was in need of a "real" setup. I restrung it with D'Addario XL110's and gave it a complete setup. Huge difference. But I thought it'd be cool to pull this out for a few of the Rock numbers that we do. That's why I got it! I might soup it up down the road. Would like to put some cream or zebra color pickups in there to break up the all black body and pickguard. Or I might just let it be. Either way, a nice guitar forthe price!

The Jazzmaster was perfect! The frets were smooth and it sounds darn good! Has that Fender Twang and is surprisingly built solid! It has some beef to it and is heavy but I sit when I play anyway so no biggie. The color is very Cool as well! Buy one! Or two!
Bought this because I wanted an offset guitar in my stable without spending a lot of cash, and this fit the bill perfectly. Nice and simple too. One tone/volume, fixed bridge, twin humbuckers! No kooky tremolo and crazy switches to contend with. Needed a setup out of the box (like they all do). Neck was nice 12" radius, pickups didn't sound bad. But it was always my intention to soup this thing up. With an Alder body it'sa great platform to mod into something a little hotter. I changed the neck for a Classic Vibe Jazzmaster, later I changed out the pickups to some Stew Mac Golden Age Zebra's to breakup the all black look. Now its a total rock animal. I did this review so people could see the possibilities with this piece. But even stock, it was a pretty cool axe ... MoreBought this because I wanted an offset guitar in my stable without spending a lot of cash, and this fit the bill perfectly. Excellent craftsmanship! The neck feels really great. Had no sharp fret ends and the satin finish is top notch. It came with a really nice set up and low action out of the box. Electronics are really decent to. Bridge pickup got a bit muddy with heavy distortion, but did well under a crunch setting. Middle and neck positions were buttery smooth with clear differences in tone. The 3-way switch is excellent quality as well, which is usually isn't the case. Wiring is great, but I opted to switch it out with Emerson wiring harness anyways. Overall, you can't beat this guitar. I bought a Vintera 60s Jazzmaster before this one and I would pick this Squier over the Vintera any day..
A Squier Affinity has no right to be this good. Ok, it doesn’t have the full run of Jazzmaster features, but it plays and sounds phenomenal. Lake Placid Blue or Burgundy Mist are also really nice finishes, especially for the money. The neck is nice (no sharp edges, skunk stripe on reverse), the hardware is good (though the guitar looks so nice that if you wanted to use this as a platform for later mods, you easily could). If you are starting out and want something that plays well and looks a bit different, get this; if you already play to a good standard and want an interesting back up, get this. I’m blown away by it every time I play it - which is a lot, because it’s difficult to put down.
I originally bought this guitar with means of switching out parts to make it my own. I loved that it was a string-through, offset, hardtail guitar.. which is the main reason why I purchased it. To my surprise, I opened the box and the guitar action was right on the money. All I had to do was tune and play. I as blown away with the sound. The pickups sound very similar to many of my MiM Fender Strats. The neck feels great, sounds awesome and is very light. I'm actually going to leave this guitar stock and play it as is because it already sounds the way I want it to.
I am very happy with this guitar. It feels like a much more expensive guitar, it's a bit heavy but not to heavy. The pickups aren't bad at all. I had to lower the action and give it a little neck relief but I have to set up all my guitars when I buy them since I like very low action.
For the price of admission, this is amazing. I bought the black model and looks great. Alder body on this thing! Is well balanced, no neck dive. Great fret job. None dead and no sharp ends. The nut was even cut right! I upgraded the tuners with some standard Gotoh with chrome oval heads. I was not thrilled with the ceramic P/U's that it came with. Put in a set of alnico Dean Baker Act (very similar to a JB or Norton) neck and bridge that I had from another guitar. About medium output pickups. I did have to glue the pieces on that the strings go through on the back of the guitar. They fell off when changing string, but no big deal. This thing is one of the cheapest, but best sounding/playing guitar that I have had in last 20 years.
