An unbelievably good guitar !

The original plan was to replace them with vintage style tuners, but why waste the money, they're great ! I bought the shell pink, and the color, fit and finish are perfect. It weighs 7.5 lbs, so on the lighter side, which I love. The neck has a better looking wood grain than my Vintage Modified '70s, and about the same feel, at least I don't feel a difference. I don't know if it's because of the top load hard tail bridge or what, but this guitar is VERY resonant, and sustains forever. The pick ups are definitely not top of the line, as the price implies, but they sound really good. My original plan was to replace them with Kent Armstrongs, but I really liked the neck PU a lot, and while I don't have strong opinions either way about the middle and bridge, I thought I would try replacing the electronics first. I installed a Gunstreet Wiring Shop Blender harness (blends neck and bridge PUs), and now I get all the tones I could possibly want. I'm definitely keeping the stock PUs ! Like I said, with a little fine tuning of the set up, it plays and sounds like a dream, looks fantastic, and is priced incredibly well. I couldn't recommend it more.

This leaves more in the budget for a decent amp and guitar necessities, e.g., picks, cables, tuners, strap, etc..As an advanced player of 20+ years... I am blown away by the playability and character of such an affordable instrument. It really does "quack" like a strat in positions 2 and 4, and the humbucker actually sounds usable, not dull or lifeless as cheap humbuckers often can. I love my bullet tele, but I felt the need to swap the pickups on that to make it just right; this one might just stay stock!TL;DR: Awesome as-is for any level of player.

FANTASTIC!

Fantastic -- if you do a proper setup
13 June 2021

I took my daughter to Guitar Center, and she spent a few hours trying out guitars. She picked this guitar over guitars that cost 2x as much, because she thought it was easier to play. Out of the box, the sound was uninspiring. I spent an hour and did a proper setup. Afterward, my wife thought I was playing one of my $1,000 guitars. Take the time to do the setup or have a luthier do the setup, and you will get a fantastic guitar. While I was not impressed with what came home from the store, the setup guitar is incredible for the price. To dial the guitar in, I had to (1) set the truss rod, (2) adjust the string heights, (3) file the nut, (4) polish the nut, and (5) set the intonation. Every one of the adjustments was wrong. Out of the box, the strings are way to high to avoid buzzing, especially for new players. If you do a lot of bends, you will also want to polish the frets as well. Out of the box, they feel gritty. That is a project for next week.

I played for only two months and it stopped working
20 January 2023

I do not recommend this product. At first the product was fine, it worked very well and everything was happy, but after two months the product began to fail in a horrible way. The part of the bridge began to give me a lot of failures, and the pins began to loosen and fell little by little; lousy construction material. And the worst part was that there came a point where I couldn't even connect my guitar to the amp anymore because that part also stopped working. I'm very disappointed. Another thing I hated about these guitars is their warranty, 40 days, oh my god. If I could I would give it 0 stars.

In every way a Strat - but it needs a setup first!
18 March 2023

Budget for a setup when buying this guitar. Because of the price point, they don't spend a lot of time finishing the fretwork on these, but a proper setup will include taming those sharp fret ends on your new guitar.Once that happens you've got a fully featured Stratocaster for less than half the price of the Fender Player Series. 100% legit. Plays like a Strat, sounds like a Strat, and you even get the 2-point trem and block saddles that won't chew up your strumming hand. There are more expensive Strats out there, but seriously - get this set up properly and it will hold its own with ANY of them. Granted this doesn't have the abalone fret markers or N4 6th generation noiseless pickups, but whatever. It's a Strat. Really Dissappointed :(
25 July 2022

Ordered this in June,it arrived for pickup at my local guitar center around 5 days after. I was excited to play it, but I noticed that no sound was coming out of my amp when this was plugged in. I switched the amp, the cord, but it turns out the amp jack on the guitar was busted. I even tightened that, but it still wouldn't put any sound out. I was really bummed because its so cute and I loved the way it would sound on the amp when you put pressure on the cord and bent it a specific way while it was plugged in (it was the only way it would actually work sadly) but I had to end up going back to guitar center and return it. I like the mustang for what it is, but I would've much prefered a guitar with bright pickups instead of the lower humbuckers I ended up with. This is my first guitar purchase, but I'll definitely make sure to beware of squier when I look to buy my next one. Just keep in mind the product might not even work at all. Really sad. At the very least the staff at my location were amazing to me, and im really grateful for them.

19 December 2022

The guitar is well made and operates fine, the fretboard is smooth and feels good to the touch. I like the shiny black lookI will put some thicker strings on it and buy an auto tuner. It has 3 pickups, the middle is apparently a humbucker, and 5 switch positions. The amp is ok but I've yet to explore the settings fully. It certainly fills the room that's for sure. The weak point is the strap which is thin and too small.Very pleased with this guitar package and value.

Squires are Good Guitars
30 July 2020

Squire guitars are consistently very good in their quality. You cant buy a bad one. The pickups are fine, and if you want to go for a different sound they are easy to change out later too. Other modifications you can make are to switch to a bone nut, and tuners can be easily upgraded too. All that said, you will find this to be a good quality. playable guitar without any modifications. The biggest definer of your sound will be your amplifier, not your guitar. I suggest you buy an amplifier with a 12 speaker. That will pretty much rule out all the practice amps and toys, and give you a fighting chance at a decent sound straight up. Tube amps are great but expensive (and heavy). Most guitars (even expensive ones) need some adjustment when they arrive. Ive never bought one that was set up to my liking when it arrived. Pay a few dollars at a decent guitar store to have the neck set straight, and the action set nice and low. Change the strings every month to keep it sounding zingy and cheap strings are pretty good. A clip-on tuner is a great addition because unlike pianos, guitars need to be tuned constantly. The best instrument is the one that makes you feel like playing. It might be the style, the color, the brand, the way it feels or the person who gave it to you. If it works for you, thats all you need.
