One of the best stephen king storys and is not a horror a great kids coming to age story. About friendship and what it means to be a friend. Worth owning an orginal dvd that you can play and remember what a great story teller stephen king is. Great kid actors that became stars and stared river phonix and is one of his best films..

This is one of my favorite movies, I had a copy but I have lost it, I was so happy to get it again.
I bought this DVD to replace A VHS tape of the movie for better picture resolution. I like the movie because it is a good movie about the friendship of four boys based on a short story entitled "The Body" by Stephen King. There is nothing I Dislike about this product
Friends of coming of age film. Very poignant, especially if you watch the extras of how the film was made. Very sad to see River Phoenix, he was so up and coming as an actor and would have been an iconic figure in movies.
My mum bought this a few years ago because it was cheap and she said she liked it. I was a bit skeptical, but I watched it with her anyway. Basically I fell in love with the film about five minutes into it.I've been very clear with people that it's my favourite film, so my friends decided they wanted to see it. They appear bored while watching and when it was over they called it 'cute'. That made me so mad, that absolutely is not the right term to use when describing this masterpiece.10/10 would recommend.

The late River Phoenix, Wil Wheaton, Jerry O'Connell, Corey Feldman, John Cusack, Kiefer Sutherland and Richard Dreyfuss all deliver exemplary performances in this small film (85 minutes) from director Rob Reiner ("The American President"). "Stand By Me" is adapted from Stephen King's novella "The Body" and tells the simple, yet elegant tale of four boys who team up to find and locate the dead body of their friend (Ray Bower). Restrained acting, a beautiful 1960's soundtrack and elegant, non-forced performances from the entire cast make "Stand By Me" a wonderful journey back to an innocent childhood that we all remember and admire. To be sure, this is one of Rob Reiner's better films. Superb.
