I am an avid birdwatcher and was in the market for a lightweight pair of binoculars for travel, for guest use, and for an extra emergency pair for when I teach field ornithology courses. The Pros: These binoculars are amazingly lightweight (under 12 oz!), and the clarity is surprisingly sharp for the price point. They also look fantastic. The Cons: As others have mentioned, adjusting the eye relief is a little finnicky for someone wearing glasses. Adjusting the binoculars (both in terms of bending at the main joint and adjusting the knob for focusing) is also not as smooth as other binoculars on the market. It also took a lot of patience to get the straps attached. The Bottom Line: These are great for what I wanted them for, which was a lightweight pair of travel ...Ā MoreI am an avid birdwatcher and was in the market for a lightweight pair of binoculars for travel, for guest use, and for an extra emergency pair for when I teach field ornithology courses. But would I recommend them for someone to use regularly? Not really. There are better pairs of binoculars that are easier to adjust, especially for a beginning birder. But I'm excited to see what this brand comes up with in the future.

Love these! These are high quality binoculars -- fantastic for bird watching, a walk in the park, visit to the coast, or just out my window. Plus the design is beautiful with the rubbery grip and bright color which makes me smile. Easy to find around the house when my sons have taken them for their own adventures. Highly recommended.

I'm far more impressed by these binoculars than I expected to be for the price. At a hundred bucks you can expect some midrange optics, and these Nocs Provisions Standard Issue exceed that expectation nicely.A 25mm objective isnāt especially huge, and in general that means you trade off vibrance, brightness, and contrast as you go up in magnification. Here Iām not seeing any meaningful dimming in daylight, and details on distant objects are clear and well-illuminated. Thereās no notable barrel distortion at the center or edge, and while thereās a tiny bit of aberration just at the very edge of the view, itās something youāll have to look for to really notice. The wide exit-pupil ā Nocs says itās 7mm ā makes it very easy to get these binoculars aligned for optimal ...Ā MoreI'm far more impressed by these binoculars than I expected to be for the price. The center focus knob turns smoothly with enough resistance to allow precision focus, and to maintain it once youāre there. The twist-up eyecups, I suppose, make it easier to use the binoculars with/out glasses. Iām an eyeglass wearer, but not when I use binoculars; thatās what the diopter is for, after all.The construction feels sturdy, and the binoculars are heavier than I expected, in a good way. Rather than a toy, they feel substantial and solid, but not so heavy that theyāre a burden or hard to hold steady. The ribbed surface gives an intriguing texture, and I donāt imagine itād be easy to lose oneās grip on them, even with gloves on.I keep marveling most at the optical quality, though. For the view Iām getting through these binoculars, Iād expect to pay upwards of three times as much, or more. But I didnāt.

I used these on a trip to Borneo to see orangutans, monkeys and all kinds of other things. They were perfect. The binoculars have excellent image quality and are pretty bright. The focus is easy and works well across different distances. Fairly lightweight but solid and well-built. They really made the trip twice as good. The binoculars got a bunch of compliments, including from our guide.
Our family has gone through many binoculars in the past. We have 3 kids 14, 12, and 8. We have broken 2 out of the 3 binoculars that we own. This one has been great. It's a bit on the heavy side but the durability is a definite plus. It's survived heavy use by the kidsover the past 3 weeks. The grooves on the outside allows it to be super grippy and easy to use. We've taken it with us out hiking, birding - searching for owls, ferry rides, and up to the Seattle Space Needle. It's been super fun to use and it's waterproof which is perfect here in the Northwest. It was dropped into the snow during a sleigh ride and was perfectly fine afterwards. The dials were a bit stiff to start off with but it gradually got better. It's a bit hard to take photos with it without ...Ā MoreOur family has gone through many binoculars in the past. Love that it's colorful - kids love it and it's easy to find. Overall great product!
Awesome binoculars! I was looking for light weight binoculars that would be water resistant for a hiking trip to AK and these were great. They easily fit in my pack and were even comfortable to wear around the neck. The clarity was great and I didnāt have to worry about moisture affecting them. They are wonderful for all sorts of adventures. The colors are great too. Canāt say one bad thing about them. Highly recommend.
I am a pretty avid birder and a bit of an optics junkie. I was excited to try out the pair of NOCS REI sent me for a review. NOCS is a small and inexpensive start into the binocular world. The allure to me is in their compactness. They can fit in a large pocket, and if you wore them around your neck all day, you wouldnāt end up with āBirderās Neck.āThe packaging the NOCS comes in is made of cardboard and is plastic-free. Cool. They include a neck strap and a carry bag as well. The binoculars have a sturdy feel. The body is a powder-coated metal. The powder-coated colors give it a bit of fun and fashion, but I like to stay a little lower key and rather not have something drawing attention to me. The powder-coated colors give it a bit of fun and fashion, but I like to stay a little lower key and rather not have something drawing attention to me. However, as a brand, that is precisely what you would desire. The powder-coating gives it a good grip and it seems to be a bit less cold when holding in cooler temperatures. The binoculars have twist-out eyecups, and an adjustable diopter. A diopter makes the binoculars adjust for getting the same sharpness in both eyes if one is stronger or weaker than the other. I appreciate this on the binoculars. Very easy to adjust on the NOCS.Now for the most important part of why we have binoculars, the clarity and sharpness. For a sub-$100 pair of binoculars, it is pretty good. NOCS utilizes roof prisms. That typically doesnāt come at such a low price. Other brands with roof prisms start at the $200 range. (Porro prism is the other kind of binoculars with larger front glass that most people think of when they envision binoculars. They are cheaper, but often bigger and quite heavier.)Using these for birding was great. At the 8x power, natural shake from hands didnāt seem noticeable. They seem to hold steady. I was able to see a lot of details and colors on birds. Text on distant signs seemed sharp too. The coatings on the glass seem to do well. I didnāt notice any fringing, so they seem sharp in that aspect. There are a couple things I find lacking. One is there are no lens caps to protect the glass, or keep it clean. I am very protective of my glass, to the point I can count only a few times I have actually wiped dust off. The other, while not a big deal, was the lack of a front tripod mount. Although as small as these things are, it is understandable. Lastly, was that the eyecups are too small for any of my NovaGrade digiscoping attachments. If you try and shoot a photo through the eyecup, it will take some work to get it lined up perfectly. However, NOCS has a universal phone adapter they sell if you want to go that route. It looks like it would do the trick well enough.I didnāt do a lot of night viewing with these, but the front objective lens is a bit small for good night viewing. Basically, I looked at the Moon and some distant lights. These just arenāt something I would likely use for astronomy. I also didnāt put it to the test of their claimed waterproofing. I would have to believe their claim until I couldnāt.Will I give up my higher-end binoculars for these, no, but these are going in my everyday field bag, that takes a beating. At under 12 ounces, I wonāt even notice the extra weight. They weigh just a little more than my everyday carry monocular. These would be a great pair of first binoculars, and could be an āall-you-ever-needā pair of binoculars for most people. Also, these would be good for children that are ready for a good starter pair.
For compact sized binoculars, Nocs Standard Issue 8x25 waterproof binoculars are impressive! The binoculars come with a cloth storage pouch, lens cleaning cloth, and neck strap. To protect and keep the lenses clean, I store my Nocs in the cloth pouch. I am fine without having plastic lens covers (which are not provided with the binoculars) as they get in the way during use if attached to the binoculars/neck strap or are easily lost if they are fully detachable. The textured grooved surface of the Nocs feels great in my hands and enhances grip during use. The focus wheel and eye cups smoothly adjust. After following the instructions, I was able to use my smartphone to take a photo of a pileated woodpecker through my Nocs (see photo). With a 30-day money back and lifetime guarantee Nocs are worth treating yourself to!
My primary gripes: 1) minimum focus is not close enough, 2) eye relief for eye glass wearers is not far enough, 3) Iām spoiled by Monarch 5 8x42ās.I got these 8x25ās for my wife as her first pair and I read all the hype from people getting free pairs to try out. I hoped these NOCS could be adequate for my wifeās first pair, but we quickly discovered they werenāt going to check enough of the boxes. Most importantly, we enjoy backyard birding out our window of our hummingbird feeders and bird feeders. The 13ft minimum focus will just barely focus on Hummingbirds at our feeders, sometimes not enough, or kinglets in shrubs a few feet from us, or the magnificent detail of tree swallows perching on swallow boxes, or fast-moving warblers in dense foliage of trees. They did pick out raptors, waterfowl, and other larger birds at medium distances ok.Compared to my 8x42ās, I found my eyes crossing a little when pulling the bins away from my eyes to scan. Also the eye relief of 13mm is a little short for the both of us as eyeglass wearers, where the 8x42ās 19.5mm eye relief really helps our viewing of objects more comfortably.Maybe the new NOCS 8x42ās will feature more comfortable technical specs, Iāll certainly test them out, but I wish more people who reviewed these bins would have remarked on these challenges. Granted someone said they wouldnāt replace their primary optics, but my wife kept borrowing my pair of 8x42ās when she had her NOCS 8x25s around her neck. I think we will be returning them for a more comfortable pair with closer minimum focus, maybe not Monarchās but maybe a lower range 8x42 binocular.
I already have a binocular but forgot to bring it with me. I was out of town. I was treating my son and his girlfriend to a Cirque Du Soleilā show. I have been to many of their shows and for me a binocular is a MUST, to be able to really see the performance āup close and personalā. This was my sonās girlfriendās very first āCirque Du Soleilā. She was perplexed why I insisted on us getting binoculars. Since I forgot mine, I decided to purchase another. My son chose to buy one as well. Once at the show, my sonās girlfriend understood my compulsion on buying a binocular. Your binocular is perfect!!! Itās great quality, light weight, and great price.
