Helps me drink water throughout day: ease of straw, handle is good for my whole hand to transport with me wherever I go (room to room). I tested & will leak if on its side or when straw lid is open & on its side (may depend on how tight you screw it on. Mine isn’t screwed on super tight). Straw spout long enough to be touch-free near the where your lips touch it, so no dirty fingers touch spout A+! Have arthritis - straw spout is a bit tough to push down & pull up every time I drink, so leave it up almost always (note: in public spaces, carrying by hand or messenger bag, I keep it closed). Easy to wash parts - lid (including straw spout), straw, bottle and a small cleaning brush fits perfect in the straw hole and in the straw itself (SOLD SEPARATELY). This is a superb bit of kit, built in the usual Stanley indestructible style. Big, solid, insulated & won't spill a drop when you've finished drinking & flipped the chunky mouthpiece back down.It keeps your cold drinks chilled for a good few hours, but don't expect the same performance as a Stanley flask, as the insulating walls of the Iceflow Flip are much thinner. It still lasts much longer than any other insulated cup I've ever owned though, so it's still a top chill performer. The lid has a substantial handle built in, which flips down out of the way when you're finished carrying the cup around - and you WILL need that handle to cart this thing around comfortably as it's a hefty beast, and unless you have very big hands you're not going to get one around this ... MoreThis is a superb bit of kit, built in the usual Stanley indestructible style. Things that are better water carriers than this cup: dixie paper cups Dasani plastic water bottles Cupped Hands This thing is a huge waste of money and is the cheapest piece of junk I have ever experienced. I bought one of these for my daughter for Chirstmas, it did not last 48 hours before being knocked on the counter and falling on the floor. 1 TIME. 1 TIME it fell on the floor from 3 feet high and the damage was so significant that the bottle cracked at the bottom and the bottom is dented so badly that the cup wont even stand up on its own anymore. THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THEIR "LIFETIME WARRANTY" So it is headed to the bin. in 200 years a space ship flying, fossil fuel seeking space man will uncover this water bottle in a what was a pile of rubbish and will ... MoreThings that are better water carriers than this cup: dixie paper cups Dasani plastic water bottles Cupped Hands This thing is a huge waste of money and is the cheapest piece of junk I have ever experienced. This is a great product! Keeps ice for over a day, water stays cold. Drink spout is easy to deploy and closes securely. The jug can leak if the lid is not tightly closed, but that would be true of any product. I'm looking forward to really using it this summer when the weather heats up. The 40-oz capacity is a good size, too: enough water for a hot day, but not hugely bulky like some products. All the negative product reviews on this website are odd. In some cases, the review sounds like it is for an entirely different product. And it would be much more helpful to see reviews from actual REI users as opposed to dozens of comments from Stanley's website.
This whirlwind trend to walk around school with a Stanley cup makes my head spin, but this is what my 15 year old daughter wanted for Christmas. Its only been two days, but My daughter loves it. This particular one with the carry handle is most preferred by this family. Its easier to walk around with than the grip handle. With the carry handle you can have multiple items in that hand. As far as durability and cleaning, I'd have to answer that in a year from now. I'd have to Check to see when the mold begins in the sip straw or around the cap seal. The quality seems good, again haven't tried hot, or if its dropped what happens. To store you need to place it on a shelf with obviously the height of the cup. I liked the many different designs. My two daughters have had their Stanleys for a long while and kept saying how good they were. A few weeks ago, I took the plunge and treated myself to finally buy myself one as yes they are expensive, I chose the Guava one, a really lovely cheery colour. All I can say was that I was so impressed how cold it kept my water all day, once I had drunk the water the ice cubes still remained and was able to fill up again without any extra ice.I then bought my husband the bright blue one last week, since then it goes every where with him. He said it was the best thing I have ever bought, it keeps our water so fresh and cool all day.Just to note that you have to screw the lid on really firmly or it will leak or the cup will drop off the lid with the carrying handle part ... MoreMy two daughters have had their Stanleys for a long while and kept saying how good they were. Once I realised that you have to almost over tighten it when you do it up, it doesn't leak and stays firm.About to investigate if you can buy a cross body type bag to put it in for when I out walking the dog.A good investment purchase that should last years, would make a lovely gift.
I LOVE this tumbler! I fill it daily with ice then add my protein drink. It keeps my drink very cold all day and the ice slowly melts so I get water the rest of the day. The flip top is great for ensuring no spills and staying clean. The next morning there is still about a cup of ice in the tumbler! I gave only 4 stars because the straw is initially difficult to use with ice - the ice gets stuck to the sides and it is hard to insert the straw because of this. I've tried inserting the straw before adding ice, and the ice won't move so the straw comes off the grommet on the lid when twisting the lid on. I also would love a stainless steel straw option. None of these are game changers for me. I'd buy another in a heartbeat!
I purchased and engraved two of these cups through Stanley for both my 12 and 9-year-old daughters to take to school. I also have a two-year-old who loves to grab his siblings cups and play with them. Little did I know the potential dangers hidden within the cup. The bottom piece fell off my 9-year-olds Stanley a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t think anything of it and allowed her to continue carrying it around, bringing it to school, and placing it on her desk everyday to drink out of. I am incensed at the lack of transparency this company has shown. If I hadn’t come across an article stating that there is a potential risk of lead exposure when using these cups, she would have been carrying this poison around with her for months. I’m giving 4 stars because I’m an ice chomper and I hate melted ice or maybe water but regardless it’s definitely going to stay cold. I liked that it’s harder to twist off the top because this means it doesn’t leak. If you have arthritis like me then it may be hard to remove the lid which can be very upsetting. I actually had to get my 14 yr old to open it one day because it was so tight. I got the hot pink and the rose and customized the rose and it was perfect. My daughter dropped one on the concrete accidentally and it seems to be pretty solid because I don’t even see any dents. So all in all it’s a great product and my daughter couldn’t be happier so it’s worth every penny ! Oh and these are cheaper than some of the most “ top selling “ brands. Bought to replace a normal plastic drinking water bottle, as couldn't cope with warm water in summer months. Also wanted a bottle with a straw, rather than drinking from the bottle, as a lot of cheaper alternatives don't have a straw.Really pleased with it, extremely sturdy, keeps drinks cold for hours. Took it on a hot walking weekend and it was great to have cold water. It's not leaked on me (others mentioned it has), just have to make sure the lid is fully fitted/screwed on and tightened.Has a useful sturdy handle for carrying. It can feel heavy, but not a problem as more importantly I wanted cold water. It is pricey, luckily I had a JL gift voucher.Sturdy, will likely get lots of use out of it.
