Star of Bombay Gin 700ml

(1,350 reviews)

A bolder expression of Bombay signature style. With two additional botanicals, carefully selected then slowly distilled for a more intense flavour. A 2015 small batch addition to Bombay Sapphire's range. Star of Bombay London Dry Gin features botanicals that'll be familiar to those who love Bombay Sapphire, with a reassembled flavour profile (more punchy juniper, earthy angelica and herbaceous coriander), as well as some new botanicals - bergamot and ambrette seed. It's also been bottled at a robust 47.5% ABV, so this ought to stand out wonderfully in cocktails.

Since Target Drive Up now sells alcohol, the pandemic really got me interested in gin, and I frequently replenish this on my bar cart. It tastes delicious and is rather inexpensive. Normally, I freeze it so that it will be nice and cold when I need it. Youre good to go if you pair it with a Withco mixed

Try Bombay Sapphire gin in a gin and tonic if you enjoy exceptionally good gins and who doesnt. Try a nice tonic water like BevMos FeverTree Indian Tonic Water to truly top off that fantastic gin. It contains cane sugar, which is significantly healthier for you than the high fructose corn syrup found in the majority of other tonics, including Schweppes. I believe you are drinking the greatest if you switch to a Bombay Sapphire gin and FeverTree tonic. Dont forget to include a few lime or lemon slices. Test it out and see. The smoothest drink Ive ever had P.S. Additionally, Bombay Sapphire gin makes a fantastic martini I know.

The Star of Bombay London Dry Gin has a strong pleasant aroma very similar to the original Bombay Sapphire. You get notes of pine and juniper mixed with citrus. Again very similar aroma to that of the original Bombay Sapphire, but the Star of Bombay aroma is just more pronounced and stronger. The taste is that of hibiscus at first, this transitions to angelica and juniper taste notes, and ends with a peppery and earthy finish. Overall if you enjoy the original Bombay Sapphire, you will love the Star of Sapphire gin.

Pet me start out by saying that I absolutely hate gin. I hate it. Don’t like it now and probably never will in the future. However, I can tell when something has been crafted especially carefully. The star of Bombay gin is the only gin I will buy and keep stocked in my liquor cabinet. It doesn’t harass you with the flavor like other gins do, instead it seemingly sings to you of what a gin should taste like. Bombay sapphire, congrats, you made the one gin I can honestly say I enjoy.

I really think that there's nothing better on a hot day then a large gin and tonic. I know that gin is not for everyone and for some reason it's seen as an old persons drink but this gin is incredibly smooth. It's a little more intense then regular Bombay Sapphire, the flavor of bergamot and juniper really shines through giving it a crisper flavor. It's delicious in a gin and tonic with a slice of cucumber. The packaging is very beautiful and looks lovely hanging out on a bar. Would definitely recommend to other gin lovers.

Star of Bombay must be so far the best of all Bombay products. However, it didn’t become one of my favorites. Here are some facts that I found on internet: Bottled at a higher 47.5% ABV, the team designed the gin in order to emphasise the aromatic profile of the core botanicals. To achieve this desired stylistic result, master distiller, Nik Fordham painstakingly underwent flavour trials (yes, someone had to try all that gin!), and slowed their infamous vapour infusion process down to increase the extraction of botanicals oils.Bolder, more citrus, more pungent juniper, less oily than standard Bombay. A little too pungent for my taste, although not as astringent as Tanqueray no. 10. Loud, highly aromatic nose with coriander and angelica loud and clear just as in standard Bombay Sapphire. Pine and juniper evident a bit lower, as crystalline pine needles on an icy morning with a stiff jolt of bitter citrus. Really quite nice, although not a far cry from your standard Sapphire. Louder, more so than different. On the palate, the loudness/amplified aromatic character is readily accessible. Hibiscus and a light floral note up front, the mid-palate is angelica and juniper, becoming a bit peppery and earthier on the finish. Coriander certainly, a bit loudly, but also darkened by bitter citrus rind, grains of paradise/cubeb, even a note of anise/licorice and other unresolved spice, finishing in the muddy low notes with an almost aperitif like bitterness. Is your palate whet for the next sip?50 in New York.

It is slightly musty on the nose, tasting dried flowers but also underlying spice. Almost strangely, the classic notes of juniper, angelica and coriander have been intensified but Ambrette is immediately apparent. Jammy from hibiscus to taste, with piquant spice, bergamot and ambrette seeds offer an exotic twist by entwining themselves around the core juniper. It’s an intense gin yet somehow retains the lightness expected of a Bombay distilled spirit. At 47.5% ABV, the finish is both long and richly aromatic but it’s not oily nor full – just rich when it hits and leaves behind a vivid memory.

Attractive bottle
23 June 2021

I am reviewing this because I was sent a free sample from Ocado. I will be perfectly honest - I don't drink! So for me the most important thing was the packaging. It comes in a very pretty box and the bottle itself is really attractive so it would make a lovely gift for a Gin lover. The bottle looks great on display! My mother has enjoyed this with Tonic and says it is good.

Damn you Ocado for this fine gin
27 June 2021

Well Im in trouble now. I really took care over reviewing this gin, doing it with plain tonic, cucumber tonic and a vesper martini - not all on the same night I might add. Each time my usual drink was definitely improved by this fine gin. The only issue is that it is the price of a very special gin and I can see me buying it regularly. My husband declared that he thought the regular was just as good but hes a heathen and can stick with the Bombay sapphire. I have my new tipple here.

I've only come to gin recently after finding it rather sickly in my younger days.. However after trying a few ready mixed bottles of it with various sparkling concoctions I've decided I actually like it now. This was very nice, as I'm no connoisseur I can't really compare with others but I definitely enjoy it. Would I pay the full price for this? Probably not for myself, but as a gift for a gin drinker I would, as it looks attractive too in it's posh box.
