A few major issues with this. 1) I'm having to use one of the USB3.0 ports on the back for my DasKeyboard X50 (HID ports will not power it). No biggie, it just means I have to use the front USB3.0 port for my webcam which I was trying to avoid when purchasing this (I wanted all the cables in the back, I tried an external powered USB 3.0 hub without any success) 2) Mouse Logitech M-U0028 wired mouse plugged into HID port will disconnect and reconnect intermittently and sometimes will never reconnect without me unplugging and plugging it back in. I've had to bypass it completely to have reliable mouse signal. 3) HDMI is very, very slow to detect on one monitor (like 5 minutes slow) while the other monitor (same make/model) works perfectly fine. Because I am working from home, now have to juggle multiple laptops and am running out of home office real estate, I bought this KVM, specifically because my laptops don't have VGA ports. All I needed to do was plug in a USB 2 Type B cable and HDMI cable from each computer into the switch and an HDMI cable from the switch to the monitor. Followed the steps in the manual, which I had to download as they don't come in the box, and it worked perfectly. Screen image is sharp and I do not detect any lag in mouse or keyboard response.

I plugged this in and it just works. My setup is pretty straightforward, a desktop PC and a laptop docking station sharing a wired keyboard and wired mouse, but it all worked out of the box. I would give it 5 stars, but it is pretty expensive for a basic KVM.
I've been using this for months now to share a dual-monitor setup, keyboard, mouse, and USB 3 hub (including additional peripherals and a microphone) between 4 PCs, including both my personal and work computers. I have had literally zero issues. It's expensive, but every cheaper KVM switch I've used has had intolerable quirks or has stopped working altogether after a month or two of use. If you have a serious multi-machine setup and need a no-frills, no-joke KVM switch, this is the guy for you.
I've tried two of these in last two weeks. Both exhibited same behavior right out of the box: USB mouse port is dead, audio is dead, one of the extra USB ports is dead. Can use the mouse in the extra USB port that isn't dead, but TWO out of the four USB ports just don't work, period. HDMI worked fine as did the mic lines, but audio out was completely dead. I'm sharing a Mac and Win 10 PC. The audio didn't work for either. The point of failure must be in the StarTech. If you just need monitor sharing, it might be ok for you. But totally unacceptable for me. I've since gone with the Syba 4 port HDMI KVM--all four USB ports work and the audio works, so I know my cables are fine. The StarTech hardware just isn't solid.
Product worked ok for several months then started missing keyboard strokes and mouse activity. Problem continues to get worse. Lots of troubleshooting to eliminate any other possibility. Same issue with wired and USB keyboards (which work fine when connected to other KVMs and directly to laptops). Seems to be on the input side, since issue occurs on both outputs. The problem is also intermittent: may work fine for several days, then for another few days it will miss three out of four keyboard strokes.
4K monitors are a requirement for this KVM. The KVM will not display 1080P via HDMI (though it will with a DVI adapter at the monitor). That may seem obvious after the fact, but should be in the requirements. I found this out after trying multiple cables, different adapters, each output of the video card, basically wasting a lot of time. Finally hooked up KVM output port directly to a UHD TV, which worked. If you're planning to get this KVM purchased and set up, then upgrade monitors, do the reverse. Monitors first ($800 I was hoping to spend next month, not immediately). Update: Reducing the rating to 2 stars. I am now experiencing a random failure to display a monitor issue. Workarounds are things like reset the KVM, switch back and forth to another powered on ... More4K monitors are a requirement for this KVM. Workarounds are things like reset the KVM, switch back and forth to another powered on computer. My view now is this product was brought to market without sufficient testing. In the absence of firmware update (hopefully) that addresses my issue and others I see in reviews I do not recommend purchase of this product. The product has potential but does not work as advertised at this time.
