Works largely as advertised with a few glitches. Driving this MST hub with NVIDIA Quadro K2200 and 3 HP monitors. Occasionally, monitors will not wake from sleep and I'm not sure if this is the MST hub or the K2200 causing this. A constantly reproducible behavior is that on machine boot, no monitor comes active during the BIOS startup and during the boot process, and I have to restart the MST hub to get Windows to display the logon screen. Seems to be an issue with the hub and system startup process.

My laptop has one display port, a docking station is also available. The docking station disables the display port on the laptop and splits out to two. I needed 3 monitors but I checked and was able to run 4 1080p monitors. Not sure how the 1920*1200 would work in a 4 monitor configuration because bandwidth would be limited. At my desk I have the laptop monitor disabled, however I can enable it and in my case i think the display port out and eDisplay port are on separate channels which is good.

If you have a device that only has one (1) DisplayPort the 3-Port MST Hub works wonders to add an additional two (2) displays. In today's workspace two monitors are nice but three makes it better. The 3-Port MST hub is easy to use making it an inexpensive/easy upgrade to add additional display. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

I was finally able to set up my six monitor pc system! It has been running well since May of this year. This product works but I had to replace it for the 3 head one for my setup to work correctly.I had to to tinker with my monitor configuration but after a day or so I was able to set things up right. How this works will depend on your hardware setup etc. I installed this while running Windows 7 and when I upgraded to Windows 10 I am still having an issue where it recognizes only 5 of the six monitors at bootup! I have to press the reset button on the device and mess with the power button of monitor 6 but after a minute or so it configures correctly. I will eventually further troubleshoot this issue but for now this is an OK solution. I highly recommend this product!
Every 5 or 6 wakes, a monitor is missing.normally the one your password box is on, so you fuss arround under the desk pressing the reset button (once if not twice).Sometimes your turning monitors off and on, pulling cables..Sometimes you give up.Still using it after a few months, but not sure why.
Loved the idea behind this and what it brought to the table after I had already bought two monitors with displayport/VGA inputs only and a new desktop computer with one displayport output. I was able to connect both my monitors. This is a "dumb" device and my desktop didn't deal with it well sometimes switching one of my monitors resolution to 640x480. After my desktop went to sleep during the night I found I needed to unplug this and plug it back it so I'd have monitors. StarTech's technical staff was amazing at helping me and I wound up buying another adapter for HDMI to displayport and everything is working as I expect. Ask that being said I liked the product and the idea behind it. My Dell desktop just didn't play well. I have this device in its box, need one?
I bought this to run 3 monitors instead of my previous 2. I have my TV plugged in via a mini display port to hdmi cable. And my two monitors split via this hub on the display port output. It took me nearly two hours of tinkering and whatnot to get this working. It worked great once I did. However, next time I turned my computer on, my graphics card only showed my TV and one monitor. But then it blacked both displays and looked like it tried to bring up the other monitor. Then just went back to 2 displays. Repeat until I intervene or my system crashed.Long story short, my computer has crashed more times trying to display on all three monitors (8) than it has actually working with all three monitors (3).
A POSSIBLE solution for multiple monitors, but not a slam dunk by any means. I have a Dell Optiplex 3070 SFF with Intel UHD Graphics 630 at DisplayPort rev 1.2. There is one DP port, one HDMI and one VGA on the integrated video card. The three monitors I wanted to use are all within a couple of years old, all have DP and HDMI inputs and one also has a DVI in. Initially I connected all three monitors to the MST using straight DP. Only one would respond on power up and wake from sleep. The other two would have to be power cycled repeatedly along with repeated pressing of the scan button on the MST. Once they finally responded, if the system was set to sleep the same nonsense with power cycling and re-scanning would have to occur on wake. StarTech FAQs just say to be sure the monitors are set to DP as they were. Failing that Startech recommends not allowing sleep mode - not a workable solution for me, and I still had the failure to respond on power up anyway. After two days of frustration and fiddling I have a passable solution by connecting the one responding DP monitor directly to DP from the MST, one connected to the MST by way of converting the DP to DVI, and one monitor connected to the computer HDMI port. They all respond on power up and wake up properly from sleep. But somehow I think the $150 would have been spent more wisely another way. My recommendation is to look elsewhere for a more reliable solution.
These did exactly what I needed them to do: allowed me to connect 3 monitors together effortlessly. My computer has 2 display ports and I needed a device to allow me to extend the screen to a 3rd. I connected one monitor through the built in display port, then split the other two monitors through this device. They all show up to the same maximum resolutions with no flickering, lag or other apparent issues except for one quirk. The reason for the 4 stars rating is randomly when the computer comes out of sleep mode, one of the 2 monitors connected to this do not power up properly. They turn on to what looks like a 480p image stretched to widescreen. Nothing actually refreshes though, it's just a still image. The only solution is to manually power cycle that specific monitor itself and then everything goes back to working perfectly. This is not super frequent. Maybe once every 2-3 days with very frequent computer usage. Overall I recommend for this price.
In order to get this MTS Hub to work reliably after computer reboot or with power plan settings. Use a capable graphics card such as an AMD Firepro W7100 Card. Poll your EDID information from the display, save and emulate on all your display outputs. This will insure the card will continue to output graphics even if the displays are turned off and prevent programs from crashing during such an event. Also helps during reboot by eliminating the need to poll EDID info again across multiple displays.
