Excellent TV Mount, disappointing assembly

Great heavy duty wall mount for TV, however upon assembling the piece, found that the screws did not fit the back of my TV. Had to run to Home Depot twice to find screws that worked. Kinda disappointed with that debacle, but once it was assembled properly, the TV looks great on the wall and the mount works well. Swivels perfectly and adjusts easily.

For a bigger TV, we mounted a 50" one, you'll definitely want to have a solid connection to a wall stud. This sticks out a good deal and moves, so you need a firmer mount than, say, a fixed unit that hugs the wall. That said, it's nice to be able to have a big TV like that on a moveable mount. Sitting, resting in the living room is all well and good, but what if there's a crowd or you need it adjusted for a special occasion. Probably wasted over a fireplace or at the end of a long room, where the adjustable nature of the mount won't mean anything, but if you have a situation where you need flexibility, even for a big TV, this might do the trick for you. The StarTech "Full Motion TV Mount" for 32" to 55" TVs is a really nice mount for TVs/Monitors. I was a bit concerned that the steel mount would be a bit too heavy for one wall stud, but I don't think it will be an issue (not sure I'd recommend installing this much weight to drywall). The articulating swivel easily moves left or right for varied viewing angles. The VESA mount should fit most TVs, and it comes with several style screws. This is perfect for a bedroom or kitchen TV where you might have a smaller screen you want mounted that sits fairly close to the wall. Keep in mind this is not a 'pull down' style mount that you can rotate, so if your TV is mounted in some odd place it might not be ideal, but this is a good standard mount. The last TV mount I had did not have full motion capabilities, which I did not think mattered much until after I had installed it. This mount is definitely full motion, and can be extended up to almost 20" and swivels +/- 90 degrees *and* has a +2/-12 degree angle adjustment. The full motion features are very handy to have, especially in a larger room where people may be sitting at different places at times. It's also useful in my bedroom, as I like to be able to push it back flush with the wall (my TV sticks out about 2"), which saves room when I am not watching anything. The mount is made out of steel and is very sturdy; I have no doubts that it can hold a TV up to 77 lbs. Installation does require two people, but I am thankful this mount did not require several different sized sockets and a socket wrench, unlike the last mount I purchased. This kit only requires a Phillips screwdriver and includes extensions, if needed, for mounting to a compatible television. I recommend installing the mount into a wood stud, or you may need to purchase compatible installation hardware for drywall mounting if needed. Highly recommended and well worth the price.

This is a great wall mount. You only need 3 screws to secure this to the wall. I have mine drilled directly into a wooden stud and I feel like my toddlers can hang from it and it won't even fall off. It feels strong, sturdy, and durable. It is super simple to install as you only need to line it up straight and no need to space and center it. You can lay the TV flush, swing it left and right on an angle and tilt slightly. I have this installed in my basement. I like it because when my kids are down there and I have to sit down with them, I can swing it towards the side of the room I am and still watch the TV. I bought one of these mounts to attach my 48 inch TV to a standard wood frame wall. The installation instructions were mostly straightforward, but offered no help on how to attach the mount to the wall. I had to figure that out mostly on my own. It was fairly straightforward, but that was a precarious experience. The attachment arm system for VESA hole patterns larger than 200mm square is also a bit awkward and allows some tilting of the TV left and right even after its fully tightened down. In addition, you need two people to attach the TV to the mount, one to hold the TV and the other to tighten the screws. [Update: you actually don't, I just didn't understand the instructions. You're a little bit on your own for the wall attachment, so you need some understanding and the right tools (a stud finder is invaluable for a wood frame wall, and of course you need to drill pilot holes for the wall screws), but otherwise this is easy to use and is still doing great a year later.]
