Can’t rate it based on other qualities. However, so far it’s holding up. I used it to shorten an wireless adapter for my Kali machine. The cord was crazy long. So far this works well. No issues with detection so I know the power and data points work. Note that it’s a very rigid cable. So if you have a tight component that needs some flexibility in the cable. You’ll want to get something longer.

For some odd reason, finding short USB cables is very difficult. When connecting peripherals, such as portable ODDs (it's a shame no one makes portable computers with ODDs anymore) and external drives, to a laptop on top of a small or crowded desk with the longer, more readily available cables, the desktop turns into a cable jungle, creating space wasting clutter. While an even shorter cable would have been nice, this length is still short enough to allow close coupling by simply making a single loop between the peripheral and the side of the laptop. I bought several of these to keep handy in my laptop case. It's a wee bit on the pricey side for such a small cable but not enough to hurt it in the rating I gave it
I keep a tiny external harddrive on top of my PC for backups, just in case there's a need to 'bug out', i can grab it and go. There's four USB ports on the top front of my computer, and having to keep the cable that came with it trussed up with velcro tape looked messy, and took up space, crowding the other ports. The length of this was perfect, a half loop around to the horizontal USB input on the harddrive, and now it's perfect.
I travel a lot with my MacBook Pro and have a small Samsung SSD. This cable is a great balance between size and durability. It is the perfect length for being able to pack in the bag and not having to worry about it getting tangled up with excess cable. The build quality is also very good and gives you the confidence of longevity.
Just purchased a new WD Elements USB 3.0 Portable Drive. Transferred 160GB of data PC to drive with WD USB 3.0 cable provided with, took quite awhile. Also slightly to long for my needs. Purchased this StarTech.com in 6 inch version. Transfer of same 160GB of identical data, PC to drive was noticeably faster! I would guess 1/2 of the time the WD USB 3.0 stock cable took. I wanted a short transfer cable for side of Notebook where Portable HD sits. Needed shortest cable possible, even the 12 inch cables have extra to deal with. This small 6 inch does not have the gold plated ends but as far as file transfer speed, it works extremely fast. Just purchased 2 more for computer travel bags and as backup cables.
One of these cables lasts about 6 months and then has to be replaced. I don't know why they wear out but they do. First sign is the disk drive starts disconnecting unexpectedly from the computer. Eventually it refuses to connect at all and I have to buy a new cable. The cables are not expensive, but is a nuisance.

I use it to connect to an axternal drive. For this purpose, this cable is on the shorter side. If you are planning to do the same. go for a longer one. That's the only complaint.
