This is a one cable solution to get from a computer with only usb c ports to a hifi DAC. Works as intended.
No knock on the product, but I had hoped it would connect my USB -B ported laser printer to the USB-C port on my notebook. It's an older printer and the port is USB 2.0 standard. The description for this cable said USB 2.0 so I hoped Windows would recognize the printer. The printer manufacturer (very well known Brand) does not provide a driver for Windows 10, but their Website says Windows 10 comes with a driver for it. This printer worked with my previous Windows 10 notebook via USB, and via ethernet worked with previous Windows versions back to XP.The computer would see the printer and list it's name, but would not install the driver. I tried a few other USB adapters with same problem and no luck. Turns out you need software in addition to hardware to make this ... Got this to run directly from a midi controller to my MacBook Pro. Works perfectly. Only thing I’ve noticed is it likes to “stick” in some of my USB-C ports and just requires extra force to remove from the notebook. Better than having it be too loose and falling out all of the time in my opinion.
If you are looking for this cable, then you found the right one. Guessing you need to hook up a printer or old midi keyboard.
I am very particular about the cables I use to connect my devices. And as I have found out through hands-on experience, not all cables are reliable. The cheaper ones are not necessarily the best. But those made by Startech can be trusted to do what they say they can do. They can handle those Gigabyte speeds. Plus the wiring and connectors are not dodgy.
Does the job as expected. Same observation as previous reviews that the connections are slightly tighter than other cables I have.
