I really like using this dish for scallops scampi gratin. As you would expect from a Staub cast iron, the dish heats up quickly and evenly. The scallops get a perfect sear and into the oven with some buttery crumb topping to finish. Beautiful presentation dish. The angle of the handle is just right to prevent injuries. the innovative black matte interior will aid in the release of food and ease in clean up.

I like this size for individual servings better that the smaller ones. Better for bigger appetites. I usually portion on gratin per two people depending on what I am making. I will often do scallops and scampi for one in this size. Lots of room for sauce, garnish.Count on the fabulous Staub quality built in. Enamel coated inside and out. No extra maintenance, no seasoning.

The international sizing was confusing as, although it was listed as 3/4 quart and 20 cm, the company measures by cm's and I do not have cm on my ruler. It just was too small for my personal needs and I was to resign myself to a return. However, when I converted the 3/4 quart to 2 cups of liquid I realized that the wrong size had been sent as the dish held only 1.5 cups of liquid.The return process was seamless and the following week the box arrived. It looked the same, or did it. Pouring 2 cups of water ... Side dishes and hot appetizers have a new home in this baking dish! A beautiful presentation and a great way to bake, serve and keep hot any dip or side dish you can think of. I make my individual chicken pot pies in these dishes and individual servings of baked ziti. These also are great for a wheel of baked brie. Clean up is a breeze with the matte black interior...everything washes away almost like non stick. And no need to worry about "seasoning" the iron on these because they are completely sealed in Staub's special coating.
Love this dish for small dish cooking and grazing. Great for me when hubby was traveling and I wanted a quick dessert or a couple of small portions. Would make a recipe - cook one off for me, then freeze the other. (Remember to thaw before cooking otherwise the timing gets messed up.) Great for serving snacks around the house for parties. For almost $70 or precisely $68.99, you get a cooking vessel that swims on the palm of a newborn baby’s hand. Calling it miniature is simply overstating its size. In the picture it’s size is 2x enlarged and customer service from zwilling tells you that you bought this thing at your own risk. Don’t get mr wrong it is a beautiful miniature enameled cast iron vessel from staub but useless. Even one small size egg will over flow in this joke. I am stuck with it because returning it will bring the cost to almost $100.00 because customer service refused to send me a free shipping label to download.
