I really wanted to like this headset. I read reviews warning me about the disconnects and audio cutout. The sound is amazing, Bluetooth connectivity with phone is perfect and its very comfortable. However that will mean nothing when you are constantly having to reset it and it loses connection to your Xbox. It’s not interference, its not because of battery, and it’s not because I’m not close enough to the Xbox. It’s simply because SteelSeries refuses to acknowledge the problem and the firmware updates over the last 2 years didn’t fix it. I’m not alone with this problem. Needless to say my 2 years of putting up with this headset was enough. I ended up tossing it in the garbage after a gaming session where I lost connection 9 times over the course of 1 hour. Shame on SteelSeries for not acknowledging and addressing the problem after YEARS of selling this product.

I really want to recommend this headset to people and for about a year I would vouch for it as one of the best gaming headsets for xbox I've ever owned. For context I've owned Astro A50s, A10s, a razer headset, and a turtle beach headset. Apologies I can't remember the specific on the razer and turtle beach as they were quite a few years back when I owned them. Anyways Astro A50s are proud on the whole the best I've ever had but, when the headset is working properly, the Arctis Series 9X wireless is very close behind the A50s and at about $100 cheaper.Pros:· Comfortable: as someone with bigger ears and a rounder head I very much enjoyed how comfortable the 9X was. It didn't feel very heavy and the eat pads are fit my ears nicely.· Audio: simply put games sound very nice on this headset. There is a dial on the back of the left cup to mix party/game chat and it gives a little "click" to tell you that you are getting the same volume level from both party and game. this serves a good base for you to then adjust on the fly whether you want more game sound or party sound in any given moment.· Battery Life: this headset lasts fairly long. If I remember correctly my longest gaming session with it was about 8-10 hours.· PC app: there's a PC app called the GG Engine which allows you to further customize the EQ on the headset.· Compatibility with multiple devices: this is an Xbox headset however it also has Bluetooth functionality one of my absolute favorite things is being able to play Xbox while I have a football game going on my PC and the audio from both coming through my headset with no issues.· information: the headset does a good job of telling you it's status. When your mic is muted there is a noticeable red light at the end of the boom mic that is on while muted to let you know that you are muted. Beeping sounds occur to let you know batter life though they only occur when closer to dead at maybe 25%. Light in the bottom of the right ear cup also tells you it's battery depending on it's color. If its green, it's more or less full. Yellow: getting low. Red: dying.Cons:· connectivity issues: I am on my second one of these headsets and this is an issue I've now experienced in both. Sometimes at random it will just turn off. It'll be at full charge and just randomly turn off while I'm gaming. And it will do this almost nonstop until I give up and just call it a day. One time I couldn't complete a sentence because I would get a few words in then it would turn off. Okay I turn it back on and continue —and it turned off again. It's incredibly frustrating and I could not figure out the root issue. The backbreaker: honestly I think I'd still recommend the headset even with the prior issue as I think I can count the times it occurred on one hand. Though they did still occur and it was still very frustrating. However what really did me in was an issue I have also run into for both the first time I got the headset and the second. The headset essentially bricked itself. All the lights would suggest that it's turned on. I put it on, there's no audio and I cannot turn "off" the headset. Its just stuck with the lights on but no functionality. This happened on my first one about a year in and my second one about a month in.Conclusion:I know I listed a lot of pros in this review and am only giving it 3 stars but that's how much the issues negatively impacted my impression of the headset. I just cannot bring myself to fully recommend the headset given my experience with it. When it's working it is very good and competes with some of the best Xbox headsets in my opinion. These issues that come up however are simply too much in my opinion especially given the cost. $200 is not super expensive considering the price of some others but it's notnothing. If you buy it I hope you have a better experience than I did because when it works it really is nice. I also hope you buy any warranty for it as well.

Great Balanced Sound and Comfortable Quality Desig

I cleaned it once a month and ever since I got them they are still comfortable as day one.My favorite part of this headset is that even though it doesn't offer a mobile app like a Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 it sounds more balanced and yes FPS games the Turtle Beach headset can sound better for footsteps not much better to warrant giving up the comfort and quality of the whole package. For gamers that are hardcore for competitive as much as they are for single player experiences I highly recommend this product for its comfortable design and great balanced high quality sound design. I would not wear these for anything that is not gaming however as I wouldn't with any other gaming headset. For those times when gaming is not the focus I use my AirPods Max instead.

Great noise cancelling ability
22 September 2022

These are very comfortable ‘gaming’ headphones that I mainly use for their Bluetooth capability paired to my iPhone 13 Pro Max. They have a 20-foot range, so I can pace or do simple tasks near my phone when I am in a meeting rather than sit there and fall asleep. My meetings are usually pretty long, but I never have to worry about the battery failing in my Arctis 9X Wireless Headphones with its 20-hour life. Nor do I worry these will ever become uncomfortable. I recently wore them for a trip to visit my sister in Australia, and I had them on my head almost continually for the 26-hour flight. Been using this model ARCTIS 9X for over 2 years. Excellent piece of audio equipment, great for multiple purposes. Great sound quality on the lows and highs. Good spatial sound , can locate footsteps in games such as MW2 and Halo Infinite. I love this headset because it doesn’t use passive noise cancelling the way most headsets do. When wearing, one can easily hear their voice like your ears aren’t plugged. Bluetooth May connect to your phone and game, which I find great EXCEPT when getting a phone call while in game it will shut off your in game audio and connect to phone call. Pros: Comfortable for long gaming sessions. Battery life is great. Friends reported microphone clarity as great. Audio quality is fantastic, I also use these in my piano as they're well balanced. It's also neat being able to take a phone call via the Bluetooth whilst playing a game you're unable to pause. I like that the microphone glows when you've pushed the mute button so you know you're muted. I like that it's true wireless, so I don't have a cable coming from my controller to the headset. Range of it is pretty good as I can wear it around the house and friends can still hear me.Cons: Charging it directly from your console with the cable provided isn't practical, so I tend to plug it into my phone charger for quick charging, as I'd left it in the console ... MorePros: Comfortable for long gaming sessions. The retractable microphone feels a little flimsy, but it's still a useful feature. There were teething issues with the audio at first, it kept dropping off randomly but that seems to have stopped over the past few weeks. Also, when you go out of range, it doesn't immediately re-pair, so I have to turn it off and on again sometimes when I'm back in range.

The elastic head band will stretch over time and you’ll have to keep tightening it that will end up with you having excess strap all over your head. And the 2 tiny Velcro patches to secure it are nowhere near large enough nor grippy enough to make them very useful. And after not even 3 years the interior components are coming undone. I hear pieces rattling every which way, even falling out from the mic hide. Now where the ear cups meet the head band by the volume knobs, there are 2 identical cracks in the earpiece plastic on both sides. I take great care of all my belongings, I never throw or slam anything and I store these out of direct sun and/or heat as to not weaken any components over time. These however still choose to fall apart. For $200 I’d expect more durability and longevity and just quality all around.Whenever these do break down completely, I will be shopping for a new headset and they won’t be these that’s for sure.
