Stihl MSA 70 C-B Cordless Chainsaw 12 Inch

Fabulous chainsaw for smallish tasks - cuts through 8” wood, like a knife through butter. So pleased I purchased this - I’ve 3 petrol saws and this is so much easier in all aspects.

Awesome tool

I got this after a veterans trip on chainsaw carving. It took forever to get this because they switched out there models. I wanted the msa 140, but I like the 70 better. It's not very loud and the power is great. Great for suburban wood carving.

Dropped the handoff

Dropped the handoff. Although they eventually got it right, if it were a relay race, I'd be last. I ordered a kit and at arrival was given just a chainsaw and nothing else. Fortunately, I had a copy of my order. Even then, it took a while to correct. Please review online purchase with store pick-up product checks. It would have been much easier and faster to just get it at the store, but it was a wedding registry thing.

Easy to use and has great safety features.

Recently purchased as we had a large tree fall during a storm. I’m totally impressed with the cutting ability. I worked all day only charging the battery during lunch to finish up. Would highly recommend this product.

Great Homeowner Saw

I've used this saw for a couple different storm cleanups. It's quiet, the power is great, and the AK30 lasts for an acceptable amount of time for cleanup tasks. I appreciate the variable trigger and chain tensioning system. Time will tell how much life I'll get out of the 1/4" chain, but it's a decent occasional use saw.

Great small saw.

Cut a full pickup load of wood with it after buying it. Worked excellent used 2 batteries to accomplish the full load. Everything was in the 8"-12" range and it had no issues. I highly recommend this saw for light duty work.

Have owned several Stihl chainsaws, but never a battery operated one. I was not sure it would have the power needed to get the job done. But a rotator cuff injury made it awfully hard to pull start so I took the plunge.I was pleasantly surprised that it was quite adequate for cutting an 8" limb, bucking & slicing into firewood.I will admit that I miss the powerful growl of a gasoline engine Stihl, but I still get to add bar oil and see the clean cut.

Nice saw

Very similar to the MSA 140; chain speed and runtime are identical. Aside from some cosmetic differences, the only real distinction is the variable speed trigger. Stihl's photos show this with a "light" bar; mine came with a standard bar. The included AK30 battery is not Stihl's updated 5.2ah model, it is their existing 4.8ah model. I use mine for smaller stuff; I generally don't cut anything larger than about 6" with it and it works very well. A sharp chain is key. The fit and finish are excellent. Made in Austria, not the PRC, which is one reason I buy Stihl tools.

I'd been hesitant to buy a battery-powered chainsaw, but have a large amount of scrub/small trees that need removed and some trails to maintain. My first afternoon with this saw had me kicking myself for not getting one sooner. Light, sleek, and powerful enough to to handle 6" and under stuff with ease. It's also much easier and arguably safer cutting through dense small growth with this over my 261. Battery run time was acceptable, but I'll eventually get another as the charge times are pretty long.
