This is a great product for deep frying. I personally wouldn't recommend using it as a saucepan as suggested, particularly if you intended to use it over gas or electric stove tops, however could see it used in this fashion on the base of the product as it appears. I could see it easily used as a slow cooker but have not tried this yet.

Not only did I get a fabulous price for this deep fryer, I also was pleasantly surprised that it is so versatile. As a deep fryer, it does a wonderful job; it heats quickly and good cooks evenly, without that stodgy too-much-fat taste or texture. I also love that you can put it on a hotplate to heat, which is a huge plus if your power points are in a bad spot. It looks attractive too, and doesn't take up a whole lot of space. That said, I can fry quite a bit of food in one go in it, which is another plus. Overall, I highly recommend this deep fryer for quality, versatility and value for money.

Really bad engineering, you'll regret buying it. The temperature dial doesn't show a temperature, it's just from 1 to 10. Also, in the manual there is no relation between these numbers and temperature. The heating element is integrated with he base, and the temperature goes inside that heater. So, when you turn the dial to 10, light goes on, after some time light goes off (you would assume that set temperature for the oil was reached), NO, it only means that the base reached that temperature. So, you have to wait (it's in the manual) several on/off cycles and GUESS if the oil is hot already. I used an external temperature probe, and after 15min it was stable at around 145C (when I would need at least 170C), I tried frying some snacks anyway just to throw them off as ... MoreReally bad engineering, you'll regret buying it. I bought this bout 2years ago. Fryer heats up really well. No problem with soggy chips. Cooked to perfection, except for basket. Is very fragile and has started to fall apart. The wire is coming away from rim and coming apart at other parts of basket. Had another Sunbeam for many years but basket for deepfrying lasted up to when fryer carked it. It was more solid and not flimsy like this basket. Am applying to sunbeam if they hv replacement for basket.
I purchased 2 of these Deep Fryers; 1st from Target on 2/2/21 & 2nd from Myer on 7/2/21. The 2nd one's Control Probe was faulty (wouldn't heat beyond tepid) & was replaced by your Customer Service Dept. Now, the Control Probe on the 1st one has died, being still under warranty. And, noting that I generally only use them about once a week or so. I would like this Probe (Type 538 TC0620) replaced in terms of its Warranty/ACCC Consumer Guarantee Law. I have a copy of both receipts.
I was looking for a cooking vessel that would suit a lady and her two small children who are being housed in a refuge with very limited cooking facilities and space. This electric multi-cooker from Myer was the ideal solution to prepare meals for this family and Myer also had the best price. Thank you Myer.
These are not much chop as a deep fryer. The oil doesn't get hot enough to deep fry chicken pieces. It barely scrapes above 150 Celcius (300F) and takes a good 15 minutes to heat the oil to that temperature. Fried Chicken needs to be cooked at 165 to 175 Celcius (330 - 350 F). This appliance just won't heat the oil that high.
This Deep Fryer totally disappointed me.It broke down after 3uses. I really wasn't expecting that from Sunbeam at all because as far as I know it's a good brand. I bought it online from the good guys it looked good and the size was perfect.I sent an email about the deep fryer breaking down and I still haven't received any response. Not happy
We have a gas stove top and the price of gas meant we needed an electric alternative for saucepan cooking. The DF4500 fulfills ALL our needs. Pasta, great rice, deep frying, baking, and anything we could think of. Convenient size for pasta and large roasts. Easy clean. Can't fault this product.
DO NOT BUY THIS DEEP FRYER!!!! I have owned this machine for about 5 months now, the oil doesn't get hot enough to deep fryer anything. Chips have that much oil in them they are inedible. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent, and being on a disability pension with 2 growing boys money is hard to come by.
