A cheap plastic box with a fan, but it works.

Mixed feelings about purchase but it does what we need it to.Pros:Does what it's made to do, works surprisingly well considering the poor build quality. Lightweight.Cons:It's basically a cheap plastic box with a fan and timer built in. It's ugly and cheap looking. Very disappointed with build quality and will be surprised if it lasts very long. Plastic shelves. Very noisy. Expensive for what it is, they must cost very little to produce. Cannot turn off alarm sounds which are very loud. Beeps very loudly for a minute when finished, like most people we use it to dry food over night so this is annoying and often wakes us up.

Amazing Dehydrator! Perfectly does its job.

We really like this Sunbeam Dehydrator. Its compact, not noisy and does a really good job. We purchased this to make homemade treats for our dog. So far it has worked like a charm. It hums away while drying yummy dog treats. As its only 500W it doesn't cost much to run over 12-16 hours. Plus the dog has been loving his treats!

Excellent dehydrator

This dehydrator is great, and I really wish I had bought one sooner: it's going to revolutionise the way I deal with excess produce from my garden. Right now there are four trays of tomatoes dehydrating in the pantry (which smells amazing!). Once they are done, I'll pack them in olive oil with some basil and oregano, all ready to be used in pastas, on pizzas, and as snacks. Then I can move on to the zucchinis and the pumpkins. So many possibilities to look forward to - I shall enjoy experimenting. The trays are easy to clean and the dehydrator takes a lot of food in a single batch. Highly recommended!

Good Dehydrator
19 March 2022

I've had this machine for about 2 weeks and have made dried fruits a few times. Kids love them. It takes 9-10hrs dehydrate the fruits but they're gone in seconds! The machine is easy to use and has a good capacity. Instructions are clear and it's pretty intuitive. Only issue is the fruits on the top shelves take longer to dry, which is not consistent with the advertisement saying you don't need to rotate the shelves. My MIL has the same machine and she has to rotate the shelves. Also wish the shelves were dishwasher safe for easier cleaning. And it's a little early to tell how much it affects our power consumption and how durable the machine is.But I'm relatively happy with it so far.

Good but not perfect
10 July 2022

I decided to get this based on the reviews. I am not disappointed re how well it dries regarding heat/fan distribution but I am quite disappointed that Sunbeam could have made the thing a bit taller to allow for the 7 tray feature and advertises that they are adjustable. Well I find some veges like brocolli/cauli etc, they just simply dont fit on the allocated/default space. good thing you can leave a rack out and respace them but you really shouldnt have to reduce a rack to allow for such a simple task, so Im not happy about that. The top rack needs more space above it to get a rack of brocolli in! So in this respect it is a poor design that doesnt allow for that basic needed space. More like they have squeezed 7 racks into the space of 5 to advertise it as 7 ... MoreI decided to get this based on the reviews. And sometimes it will start making a rattling noise and the temp button is hard to push. The racks themselves, the holes could be smaller or they could supply the mats for all trays not just one! As we all know, the veges may fit ok PRE starting but alot shrivel up to a small size and fall thru the gaps. It would be good if I could get more of those mats as an extra purchase. Still VERY good value for the price.

Nothing is safe from my machine
25 November 2022

Fantastic machine. Light weight with a very quiet fan. Easy guides in manuals to times of dehydrating. I even dehydrated flowers. Im using this machine at least once a week. Its a matter of preparing and cutting your items laying them on the trays (plenty in this model) turn on machine select time an temperature and no need to rotate trays around. I'm impressed with this machine. My partners laughed at me on a 2 day bender dehydrating.

Save freezer space by dehydrating food
31 August 2020

I haven't dehydrated before so this review isn't comparing it to other dehydrators, just sharing my experience. I've loved this machine so far. In the first few weeks I have make fruit leathers with frozen strawberries and mango which I found when clearing out my freezer. I just added cinnamon and yum! I've also made dried apple and pear with cinnamon which were quickly devoured, and dehydrated excess grapes to make very juicy and delicious sultanas. The removal front and shelves provide great access and cleaning is easy. I leave the solid tray in the base and just remove and clean that when needed. There is only one leather making tray but baking paper works fine so I don't expect I will buy any more. The machine is quiet, but I also have mine permanently set up ... MoreI haven't dehydrated before so this review isn't comparing it to other dehydrators, just sharing my experience. I find I'm using it constantly to get the most out of any excess food such as celery leaves, citrus peel, herb, etc. It's helping me both reduce (eliminate) food waste and reduce storage space in my freezer for things like carrot and celery which I save for stocks.Regarding the manufacturers cooking guide, I use their recommended temperatures but find the time guide not always accurate. The machine is large which might be a drawback if you short on space.

Sits on our bench perfectly
30 July 2022

It's a very nice size for the kitchen bench top. The trayers are visible so you can watch the whole process or keep an eye on how they are progressing. The clean up process is very easy and if you don't need it for a little it packs nicely away. I also like that's it's portable so other people as family/friends can use it Very happy with the purchase.

TOO MANY ORANGES
22 July 2022

We have an orange tree with way more oranges than we can use ourselves, so I decided to have a go at dehydrating some and also some Limes (great for the GnT) I found the Food Lab very easy to use. Just set the temperature and the time to suit and the unit does the rest. I have also since dried some apples and pears that I bought because they were cheap at the time, these are yummy too ! I also have a Sunbeam bread maker which I use to prepare bread dough which I then cook in my oven, I am able to use the dehydrator to 'prove' the bread prior to baking. I am very happy with both of these products. Appliances on Line make it very easy to have these products very quickly delivered.
