Sunbeam EC1300 Poach & Boil Egg Cooker

Efficient way to boil eggs. I have previously had a Kambrook similar egg centre. This Sunbeam brand is mach better in that it has an option to have an alar when finished or not. The alarm is not too noisy, unlike the Kambrook one where the whole neighbourhood could hear. Simple to use and gives options of how hard boiled you like your eggs. Can also poach eggs

Brilliant egg poacher, but be prepared to replace

This is a brilliant egg poacher/boiler. However, this is my second one in two years, because parts of it are flimsy.It works by placing the correct amount of water into the base, then sounds a raucous alarm after the water has steamed away. Unfortunately the markings on the measuring cup disappear very quickly, so I have used permanent marker on it to measure my favourites - poached eggs and 2 hard boiled eggs.The plastic insert that holds the hard boiled eggs split in several places too.Bottom line - I am willing to pay $40 every eighteen months or so because it makes the best poached eggs! But I'd rather not.

Fluffiest egg yolks

Very easy to use, and the hard-boiled eggs and medium-boiled eggs came out beautifully. The egg yolk was as light and fluffy as I have ever tasted.It seems a bit more difficult to get the water quantity right for soft boiled eggs. So far they have all been more medium than soft, but I will keep on trying.

Great product

I had a Sunbeam one before so wanted another one. This is just as good if not better as it now has storage of water container in the unit and an option for hearing the buzzer. The buzzer is also surprisingly louder than my previous one. Great if your hard of hearing or in another room very useful kitchen appliance for those who find cooking eggs perfectly for everyone texture requirements tricky and time consuming

Money well spent

Fast cooking translates to saving electricity and water. Product is small and compact therefore minimizes cleaning time and space occupied. The buzzing sound is really loud enough to alert you to turn off power. Timing for poach egg needs iterations. Getting there...

Poach and egg boiler

It really takes the guesswork out of boiling eggs to achieve one's desired outcome. I used room-temperature eggs and 'standard' size (extra large approximately 60 g each including shell) as per instruction manual. It's a small unit so I would not use the holders to make omelettes (too small) and one would be able to steam only a small quantity of vegetables. I haven't used the poaching function yet.

Small, lightweight and handy.

Have had one of these for years and years. Used to put eggs on the stove then forget about them until the burning smell permeated the house. This unit has an alarm to notify when the eggs are done. Cooks the eggs perfectly. Easy to clean. Small, so stores away neatly. Never had a problem with the unit.

The egg tray will eventually crack.

I am on my second unit already - shows how much I like this tiny appliance. BUT it is also because the grey tray, on which the 6 eggs sit, will eventually crack, and the condensed water will leak and wet all over your benchtop and potentially shorting the electrical appliance itself. I suspect the tray's plastic cannot withstand the heat, and cracks as a result. I could super-glue it, but not sure about heating super-glue right next to something my kids eat.I am looking for another brand now. Pity.

Timer Function Pretty Much Unusable

I bought this, and am suprised at how many good reviews this has gotten. The Product is very capable of steaming eggs, however, the timer function is pretty much unusable. It has no function to stop itself when the water is all evaporated, and if you set it to the timer, its obnoxiously loud. Its a jarring buzzing noise that is extremely loud, its noticeably louder than any alarms i have used to wake myself up. Its so loud and jarring that i couldn't bear to stand next to it if the alarm is going off.Given that the least you could expect from a machine which sole function is to boil eggs, that it stop once the eggs are cooked, its pretty poor form. Trial & Error

I like that it's easy to use but have struggled so far getting the eggs right. The water ratio for soft boiled eggs was way out- eggs rock hard. Next time I used half the amount of water & they weren't cooked. Just trying fir a happy medium. Poached eggs are lovely.
