After the first use I was not impressed by the overall finish on my toast. After a month more than half of the heating wires had ceased to work so had to toast twice each time. The best thing about it was purchasing from the Good Guys. I took it back and they replaced it for me with no hassle. So far the second one is doing ok but only time will tell on its longevity.

I spent a ridicously long time researching toasters, before finally selecting this one. So let me simplify the world of toasters for you. A large part of it is really how much you are interested in the way a particular one will look in your kitchen. You then move to two functions that seem to have been added since I last bought a toaster (to be frank, I am in my fifties and I never remember having bought a toaster before). One is the ability to use the lever to lift whatever you have put in the toaster a bit higher to help you remove things you may have once been tempted to use other implements for. This is actually handy. The second is the ability to lift whatever you are toasting up, using the lever, while it is toasting, to check that you haven't gone past the point of no return or, if you are hungry enough, the point at which you will have everything except the receptacle you were aiming for covered in burnt whatever it was you were toasting. Again, a function that is actually handy have, particularly when you are toasting something that veers from whatever it is you normally toast. After that, you can look at options which allow you to warm items by placing them on a rack that sits above the toaster after which you then press the lever down, as you normally would, to generate the heat to warm the item. There are also ones that actually allow you to intentionally toast a single side of something, as opposed to the ones that just do that for you after you have owned it for a while. After that, there are a few toasters which give you the ability to make all sorts of selections according to the item you are toasting and the temperature it was at when you put it in the toaster (i.e. really, this comes down to frozen versus room temperature and how long it takes to adequately brown the different things you might choose to put in the toaster). As far as I could tell, anything beyond the lift to check function and the lift to remove function, none of the other options really seems to have become overly popular, which leads to an obvious conclusion. Based on the obsession I developed and the time it drove me to spend researching toasters, I would strongly suggest you, just pick up one of these and get on with things you like doing or must do. That is, don't be like me.

If you want to toast a slice of raisin bread, go ahead. It will work. If you want to toast wholemeal or white bread, you will have mixed results. You can have a mixture of not toasted at all and a burnt edge or not toasted evenly after repeated attempts. Not happy and I don't enjoy toast anymore.

The toaster works as it should but I'm concerned about safety. How items such as this can pass a safety inspection says something about Australia's lax safety testing, the outside of the toaster gets hot enough to burn a child. Wake up manufacturers, just because you can buy these toasters in China for around $3 each doesn't make them worth importing.
I received the toaster as a gift from my friend along with the kettle. Both look great in my kitchen, such great duo. At first, I thought 6 was the medium cooking - burnt some bread but then realised that level was for frozen slices - which then I tried again and worked perfectly. For everyday use level 2 and 3 is great. Its fast and perfect level of crunchiness and softness.
A solid toaster for the price, with abundant levels of control and extremely smooth handling too boot. The refined dial with extended toast range really gives you a level of control unheard of for an appliance at this price bracket. Meanwhile, the wide set toasting channels can accommodate any bread level from slim classic white, to rustic thick-cut organic hand-made artisan loaves. To add to the sophisticated look and to reinforce the premium-level build, the sleek and easy-to-clean chrome finish really sets it off. Hats off to Sunbeam, they have really created a masterful and highly accessible machine with all the subtle nuances and peak performance of a pro-level appliance, at a fraction of the price.
Bought this a few months ago, thought Sunbeam was an ok brand but will never buy again. The push down handle snapped off after very little use. As I couldn't find the receipt and was politely told 'can't help', I pulled it apart to see if it was fixable. It isn't.Seeing how flimsy this thing is on the inside, confirms my anti-Sunbeam stance.Shoulda gone with trusted Breville. Never had an issue.
I bought it because it can take 4 thicket slices. The settings are also better than others does not burn toast at low settings. I found number 5 setting ideal. But the toaster buzzes electrically somerimes and I am thinking of returning it. I have however had a bad experience returning purchases to the good guys.
Bought this toaster and its rubbish. The 9 Settings are only warm and warmer. It fails to Brown the bread at all . Its only 1700 watts which for a 4 slice toaster is like using a 4 cyl car to pull a Semi. It needs to be the full 2400 watts and then it may be better. On a plus side it looks good, but just wont toast
I love the shape of the practical long slots. I really like the curved edges, the contrast of the metal against the mirror finish modern and visually delightful and I particularly like my environment reflected in the toaster (like the kettle) that reminds me of a cinematic vision. The instruction manual is easy to follow plus the labeled dials and settings.
