I have had to replace (with a different brand) my hand mixer because the handle is flaking and drops bits into the mixture. There is nothing else wrong with the machine.I chose this mixer initially because of the good looking design, and comfortable handle. Unfortunately that handle has not lasted!

The staff at Good guys let me try 3 of the hand held mixers on display so I could get a feel for the stability of the beaters under low and high speed. The Sunbeam 235W hand held mixer was well balanced under low and high speed with the weight centered over the beaters. This made for a smooth mix under any speed. The Power boost button was a good speed for that extra boost in mixing. These are the best hand held beaters I've ever bought at this price and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. Well done Sunbeam.

If your plan is to whip up water or air for a minute or so, this beater is for you.However, if like me you need to make butter cream icing, then give these a miss. After about 1 minute of use, I turned the mixers off to hand mix the icing, then the beaters wouldn't turn back on. About an hour or so later, they worked again. So, I gave it another shot. Same thing happened again.These were absolutely useless for me!The most frustrating part was The Good Guys refused to return my funds only 2 days after purchase until I rang Sunbeam (who were very helpful) and had their permission for my money to be returned to me.

The staff at Good guys let me try 3 of the hand held mixers on display so I could get a feel for the stability of the beaters under low and high speed. The Sunbeam 235W hand held mixer was well balanced under low and high speed with the weight centered over the beaters. This made for a smooth mix under any speed. This is about my 5th Sunbeam hand mixer. Unfortunately I couldn't find the model I have usually purchased - the one that comes on a stand, has 10 speeds and has a stainless steel bowl. This model doesn't have the 10 speeds but sufficient for tasks. I am also disappointed that I can't use the multitude of beaters I have collected. Additional beaters come in handy when making a variety of dishes. I will have to purchase some more as only 2 in the box!!!

Its first task was a four-layer, 8-egg meringue gateaux, which the mixer handled perfectly. I love how it has whisk attachments along with the standard cake-mixer and dough attachments. It feels solid and well-made in the hand, without being overly heavy.As mentioned in Choice, the top release button is a little hard to release, but I simply switched the machine off at the power and used two thumbs on the button. The upside of having a firm release button is that it would be virtually impossible to accidentally release the mixing attachments when the machine is in operation. Somewhat disappointed with this hand mixer. It’s heavier than my previous one and Sunbeam need to redesign the way the beaters have to be released - it’s not easy. Silly me! I didn’t read reviews before purchasing and that’s an issue mentioned. But Sunbeam is generally a good brand so I expect it will last for many years.
I used the mixer for the first time today and found it very difficult to remove the beaters. It is virtually impossible to press the eject button. On experiencing this major difficulty, I read reviews by other users, many of whom had encountered the same problem.
I’ve used these once and I’ll be returning them! They’re not powerful at all, and the cord is in a silly place so it constantly gets in the way of the bowl. I got a butter all over the cord. The beaters also overheated and stopped working a few minutes into making buttercream for my daughter’s birthday cake. The butter was room temperature and soft, so it shouldn’t have happened. It says in the manual not to use it for more than 90 seconds, so what’s the point?
I thought that by purchasing a Sunbeam product I would at least get something that was of half decent quality! This is not the case. The cord keeps getting in the way (I thought it was because I am left handed but realise others have this issue also). It overheats frequently. It is very heavy to use. I will never consider buying another mixer of this brand. I would give it minus stars if possible.
Had this brand before and it lasted many years. Sunbeam was an Australian made product. Previously only had the whipping beaters. Now three sorts. Love the old 50's look. My mum and many other ladies had a sunbeam mixmaster and I learnt to whip and beat many a cake and cream and make fluffy pav's. Much cleaner design. Cleans up well.
