I had the small cat door and it worked great but it was a little too small for my cats and they didn't really like to go in and out. So I bought the large cat/small dog (next size up) door and installed it last fall. While my cats like to use it better, I have had several problems with it. It is not nearly insulated enough. When it was cold last winter, it had frost on the inside of the door flap. Then when I was on vacation in May 2019, I had raccoons in my house. They were able to ram the door hard enough to get in. I saw them do it after I got home. I actually had to barricade it at night with cement blocks until I could capture them in live cages. The whole reason I bought the chip door was to keep the raccoons out.

Installation was a breeze as I replaced a manual cat door to this microchip controlled large cat door. My cats use a regular cat door so switching to this new door was really easy for them and the controls made it easy for me. Two cats have microchips implanted and the third uses the collar type and the Sure Flap Microchip LARGE Door works seamlessly for all. I used the unlocked mode till all three cats used the door than set it for ID registrations till all three had been through and registered. After this I set it for 10 second delay, then 2 second delay and now no delay. What an excellent quality door and so easy to program. I recommend the large door as I have a 15 lb., a 12 lb. and a 5 lb. cat and it works great for all of them.

Must admit I was a bit hesitant about this but I am very happy to say I was wrong!! So far the door has been perfect, my cat loves the thing, uses it even when the main door is opened 2. Easy to install and setup, reads the microchip without fault and hope this remains the case, took my cat a few goes to get used to the click as the door unlocks before he can come through, keeps him nice and safe inside at night..Lock unlock timer makes life easy and works great.Not keen on the price but it is a good product and happy to recommend it to anyone whos thinking about getting one.

I spent a lot of time reviewing cat flaps before deciding on this one. Customer service were great as I had an issue with it not recognising one of my cat's chip. Turns out his chip was defective and I'd never had known!It's worked brilliantly since. Took a little while to loosen up so that it closed properly but wasn't a problem. The curfew works really well. Don't worry your cat can always come in. It won't lock them out! Only non programmed cats can come in. It's a good size and both cats use it happily. Thoroughly recommend.
The door we bought was the largest size with the electronic curfew. I was concerned our 7kg Jack Russel would be too big for it, but she is slowly getting the hang of it. Our 4.5kg cat is reluctant to come in through the door because it is slow to release and it clicks as it does so he is hesitant. Hopefully with more training he will improve as it was for his use that we purchased the pet door. It is easy to store and program and takes 4 size C batteries not included.
Bought it 9 months ago and it's never really performed well. The curfew mode resets itself randomly, defaulting to allowing the cat to come and go as she pleases (regardless of power or WiFi interruption). It doesn't always sense/log the comings and accurately, so the app can't ever be trusted tell if the cat is in or out. If the flap closes softly (such as when the cat comes in slowly or there's a breeze) then it doesn't always latch, meaning any cat could then come in. It also eats through batteries and the seal is draughty. Noisy too. Such a disappointment.
This is a great cat door if you want to be able to set the times for your pets (and only your pets) to come and go. We can now keep our cat inside after 5:30pm, and she can easily let herself out at 5:30am, instead of yowling to wake us up to do it for her.The RFID identification of our cat was easy to set up, as were the lock times.Installation was straight forward, although the screws to mount the outside plate on were too narrow and we had buy some that fitted properly.Overall I highly recommend.
Clever neighbours / stray cats could work out how to open this door from the outside easily!!When set to in&out mode the little locks only come up on the inside so any clever cat will work out to hook its claws from the outside and pull the door towards its. Considering this cat flap has the setting to engage the little locks to also keep your cat inside why didn't they make it so all the little locks come up and down when it's set to in&out mode!!! What a complete design flaw .... Bottle line is , as soon as any unwanted visitor cat learn to hook their claws under the flap and pull it towards them this flap becomes utterly pointless!!! Utter rubbish cat flap in my opinion . Could so easily have been programmed to be perfect
Bought this cat flap recently as we had some issues with a neighbours' cat coming into our house when we were out. This cat flap does exactly what we need it to do. It was easy to program it to remember my cat's chip, plus the flap also allows you to set locking in/out times and also to lock it in/out manually, in any combination you might want. It is a bit of a faff to set the times but it is a useful function to have. If you lock it closed at a certain time it will still allow your cat to come in after that time, but won't allow it to go out again. We wanted to keep out new kitten inside whilst allowing our existing pets (2 small dogs and older cat) to come and go. Unfortunately, this product is virtually useless- will allow any animal to exit, schedule must be the same for all pets (not good when you have a dog who needs the loo throughout the night?), and if you have to override on the door itself, you have to reimpose the curfews through the app manually. Such a shame, as this product had so much potential, but falls so far short.
