If I could give this product 5 gold stars I would. I was tearing my hair out trying everything possible to keep nuisance pests away and to date this has completely done it's job. I ended up buying a 2nd device and it also is doing its job. The product is made of good quality material and can be solar charged. Time in the Australian harsh sun will be the ultimate test. I can strongly verify that in my situation I have removed the trouble some pests. Big shout out to Brian and his company, delivery was also quick.regardsBearded Dragon

I bought two to protect my garden but all the edibles are still being destroyed and I can hear scurrying and movement where they are placed. I even tried both one each side of a rockmelon I bought as an experiment just to see what would happen when I left the melon outside and something ate the melon. So they don't work for me. Guess my garden is so tasty animals just ignore the devices.

I’ve now bought three of these Sureguard scarecrows, after being so desperate to find something that would stop rats from decimating my fruit and veggie gardens. I’ve been using them for two months now, and I think they actually work! I have them set on night mode, so that they’re only triggered at night and not during the day by my cat. I can see the blue light flashing regularly, and occasionally I’ve gone out and triggered the white strobe light/ultrasound when walking past the detector at night. And after rats ate basically all my peaches, plums, apricots, figs and tomatoes, so far this summer I’ve hardly seen a sign of them. I’ve worked out that I do need more than one Scarecrow deterrent, because they’re fairly directional and the rats will still enter if ... MoreI’ve now bought three of these Sureguard scarecrows, after being so desperate to find something that would stop rats from decimating my fruit and veggie gardens. I’ve worked out that I do need more than one Scarecrow deterrent, because they’re fairly directional and the rats will still enter if they’ve got a sheltered way into the garden/tree. So I put them at either side of the fruit trees that currently have ripe fruit, or at either end of the veggie garden where the rats enter along the fence. And I may be a couple more to place in further strategic areas, because living in an inner-urban area where the rats are rife, they come at my garden from all directions. But now that I know I’ve got a possible solution in these Scarecrow deterrants, I’m so relieved.

They light up come on when motion is detected. So work from an operational perspective. However, the rats do not seem phased by them (unless they are deaf) and just keep leisurely strolling past them as they go off even when they are within centimetres of them. Also don't put the stakes that come with them into hard soil. I have one of them outside of my garden beds in harder soil. Pulled it out recently to try a better spot. And the stake stayed in the ground. So you then have to dig the ground to retrieve the stake. At the cost of these X 3, it is a bit annoying..
I purchased the scarecrow and put it in the veggie patch. It didn’t take long to charge up and I haven’t seen any evidence of rats or mice in the patch or even on our nearby bird feeders. Our cat even avoids being in the patch and is happy to make the most of other areas of our yard. The Scarecrow is doing a great job and I couldn’t be happier.
I was looking at a more expensive product online and bought this as a test before investing in the other products. I've only had it for a week and so far it's been great. The possums tried to run across the fence about 3 time but since then, I have seen any. The products dies say to keep the blue light activated as this is a particular strobe they don't like. When they come within the sensor range, it triggers an additional white strobe which creates an upward/downward strobe pattern which they are particularly wary of.As the PIR sensor range is only 110 degrees, you need to adjust its position to make sure they will pick up the possums when they stray within the sensor range.Set up is a doddle and I like that you can recharge via USB if you have low light ... MoreI was looking at a more expensive product online and bought this as a test before investing in the other products. The other ones run on either battery or via 10m DC power leads so this was a huge sell point for me as I only get direct sun in my courtyard for about 6mths of the year. The instructions say that possums may reappear if their food source runs low and they're desperate enough to brave their old foraging routes. For this reason, I am going to persist with it as so far it has functioned as described. For $69, this unit is a great choice compared to other units which retail for between $100-$150 (exc. 10m DC power leads).I've had the same possums running on my fence for years now. So if you are experiencing the same difficulties, this is worth a try.
I was so looking forward to getting one of these. We live in the Adelaide Hills and our garden is under constant attack from deer, foxes, kangaroos and our own escapologist goats, so anything that helps to keep them at bay is most welcome. Unfortunately, this product seems to act like a beacon, encouraging more and more pests into the garden. I've given it a fair time to have a deterrent effect, but it just seems to have made matters worse. I certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone; in my experience, it simply doesn't work.
I have a ring-tail possum which has physically broken into my roof and now nests in my roof cavity.I purchased FOUR of the Sureguard Scarecrow Motion Activated Ultrasonic Animal Repellent devices and placed them strategically throughout the roof cavity, so there is now no place in the roof cavity that is more than four metres away from one of these four devices.I also separately purchased four 240 volt USB adapters (not provided with the Sureguard devices) and LONG USB cables to feed the Sureguard devices, so that all of them are ON PERMANENTLY even though they are out of the daylight sun in the roof cavity.I occasionally look through the manhole to check - yes, all four devices are flashing their blue lights continuously, and a hand wave elicits the flashing ... MoreI have a ring-tail possum which has physically broken into my roof and now nests in my roof cavity.I purchased FOUR of the Sureguard Scarecrow Motion Activated Ultrasonic Animal Repellent devices and placed them strategically throughout the roof cavity, so there is now no place in the roof cavity that is more than four metres away from one of these four devices.I also separately purchased four 240 volt USB adapters (not provided with the Sureguard devices) and LONG USB cables to feed the Sureguard devices, so that all of them are ON PERMANENTLY even though they are out of the daylight sun in the roof cavity.I occasionally look through the manhole to check - yes, all four devices are flashing their blue lights continuously, and a hand wave elicits the flashing white lights and the cricket-chirping that is only just audible from the ultrasonic speakers.AND YET - the possum continues to nest in the roof, I hear it scampering about, lifting a roof tile to venture out each night to forage and then returning back into the roof before the sun rises. This after the devices have been working continuously in the roof cavity for over two weeks now.I gave these devices a "3" because they are well made and clearly function exactly as they are meant to, and TBH they are the most cost-effective devices available on the market in terms of the hardware provided and their 360 degree design. However, these devices have proven to be ineffective against a ring-tail possum in a roof cavity. This possum literally just farts in the general direction of the Sureguard Scarecrow Motion Activated Ultrasonic Animal Repellent devices - FOUR of them - as it goes about its daily business.
Useless! I secured a fresh apple in a netting mesh sleeve (same sort of 'bag' fruit (lemons) are sold in supermarkets) and stacked it in the middle of a compost heap which the possum frequents. I positioned the Sureguard within 1 metre of the compost and directly inline with the apple.. The possum came, obviously sat down, chewed the apple bit by bit though the netting shredding it (mesh) into pieces. I did this on two consecutive night - the possum feasted till all the apple was gone. Not good.
I bought this approx 4 weeks ago to deter local cat(s) using my garden as a toilet. It worked when placed within one metre of a favoured spot, when one of the 3 light faces was placed directly facing the toilet area. It didn't work for a location approx 3m further away. Some points about this unit:- the ultra high frequency sound was audible to a 12 year old and my 20 year old son, who described it as borderline painful. If you have good hearing or young kids, this could cause issues.- the blue strobe is continually on, which is annoying at night. My neighbour thought there was a police incident when I first installed it. Not sure if you can turn off the blue strobe.- there are 3 faces on the unit, making the unit less suitable for placement in a 90 degree ... MoreI bought this approx 4 weeks ago to deter local cat(s) using my garden as a toilet. My neighbour thought there was a police incident when I first installed it. Not sure if you can turn off the blue strobe.- there are 3 faces on the unit, making the unit less suitable for placement in a 90 degree corner (the faces are 120 degress apart).- one of the cats I was trying to deter, now appears to be deaf, so the ultra high frequency may not work, but the lights should. In summary, if you angle one of the lights facing directly where the animal frequents, give it a day or two and it should work, it did for me (for cats). The other tip was mothballs in a plastic/jar with holes punched in the lid. Sureguard also appeared to have a similar unit that squirted water, I would have liked to give that a go, but I can't see it listed on Bunnings anymore.
