Microsoft Surface Go 3 10.5-inch Pentium-6500Y/4GB/64GB eMMC 2 Platinum

I read the reviews before purchasing this tablet and must say that it is absolutely the best buy. I am not the greatest most tech savvy person and have found this tablet to be so easy to use and navigate my way around Windows 11, which is an awesome upgrade for Windows 10. I was looking at buying both a Laptop and an iPad and found that this tablet exceeds having an iPad, Microsoft store has a lot of great apps that you can download. The security features with Microsoft are also exceptional. I have no problem recommending this tablet to anyone looking for a laptop or a tablet !! I purchased this during lockdown and I was super impressed that it was the same day service and also the click and collect manner felt very safe and the staff were lovely.

So far it is easy to use and does everything I want it to. Not sure about two things that are worth considering before purchase: S Mode is something I wasn't aware of and limits the types of apps that can be used - currently exploring this further. Second thing is whether I need security software for it. It says it comes with it but is that sufficient? The Microsoft Store does not have Eset Nod 32 which is my preferred anti-virus software and for which I have a license but can't use on this device in S Mode. You see the problem. Exploring this further at present. Otherwise, it's currently working out fine. I have had for two weeks now but only opened the box a couple of days ago.

I had an old Surface 3 (not Pro) which served me well, but struggled with the latest software. This Surface Go 3 fitted my requirements much better than the Android offerings (with the same screen size). I bought a 256GB SSD card, which is really easy to insert into the back of the device – to store videos to watch when travelling. I also bought the detachable keyboard (Type Cover). Overall, I am happy with my purchase. It does exactly what I need for a secondary device that I need to be extremely portable, but with enough grunt to do most of my regular tasks. I would not use this as my primary computer.

Battery Drains Faster than a Keg in Beer Festival

Great concept and build quality is good. However, the battery life is probably the worst I have ever seen on a new device (I've owned a surface pro and a surface book and use a Dell for work). I'm getting probably about 2-3 hours max with surfing, OneNote, occasional email, reading PDFs over minimal ethernet. I only purchased 4 days ago so will be taking it back if it continues. Also, sometimes, I experience some win 11 bugs where the machine behaves unexpectedly. Don't do it!!

It was not a good decision to buy this. Has been back to MS and I got a replacement (I think) - the battery would not charge and now the charger has died - they use MS connector so you cant just use any charger. The OS is clunky difficult to use without a keyboard. Avoid this if you can.

Microsoft Go 3 Platinum 64GB SSD

Compared to other tablets, this is very under-powered. It’s meant to be for those that need the basics, like using Office on a train before work or something. Don’t think about using it for anything intensive like games or a art program. With the 64GB SSD and the 4GB ram it will choke on the workload. As a basic travel tablet for very basic games, or for school work or using it for MS Office, this is a great cost effective solution.

Surface Go 3 is great for travelling.

The Microsoft Surface Go 3 with keyboard was purchased on Christmas Eve 2021 to replace my Surface Pro 4, which although I loved, I sat on a smashed the screen, oops. I have only had a few weeks to get to know it but I have not really found much difference with the exception of the two points below: 1) Surface Go 3 is more than 30% lighter. Great for travelling and lighter on my lap. This is a big plus for me as I am a one bag traveller. 2) The Windows 11 Home S version (S as in safe and secure I guess) is so annoying as I cannot load my Accounting package, my Kindle books or my VPN. I will probably have to convert to Windows 11 without the S. I will explore this option more when I return home from travelling next week.

Very useful Windows 11 tablet

After looking at the Android and Chromebook based tablets out there, I'm glad I picked this up for a great price. The built-in stand and SD expansion are what make this tablet so useful. Excellent screen and good performance with the Pentium Gold processor. Battery life is between 4-6hrs based on screen brightness and how you use it. Highly recommended!
