Not for the faint hearted, this is a strong and seriously smoky brew! If your favourite is Earl Grey, this one is probably not for you. More for lovers of lapsang souchong looking for something different.

The secret to blending a Smokey cuppa or just improving a flavourless black tea - blend it with Really Russian Caravan - always keep a cube of T2 on hand. And if you’re looking at the competition - check out the size of the tea leaves - other brands look like the sweepings from the floor - all dust ! And the flavour ? If you love a good strong cuppa Tea - with a Smokey heart - perfectly at home coming out of the Billy - go with this!

Great black tea, it definitely brews strong, but I did buy it after reading reviews that it's 'soooo smoky' or 'smokiest I've ever had' - REALLY? Decent black tea but if you've had a quality Russian Caravan, you'll know the smoky punch can really knock you. I was a little let down that the best you've got here is, according to description: 'A blend of fine long leaf black teas with the addition of lapsang souchong' - ideally, I'd want to know exactly what you're mixing in and the ratios. That would be the truest way for me to know if I'm getting the notes I am after, and unfortunately 'addition' is not enough for me. Good for smoky tea beginners (nothing wrong with that!) and honestly, a good, full-bodied blend. Just not a russian caravan. And definitely not Really ... MoreGreat black tea, it definitely brews strong, but I did buy it after reading reviews that it's 'soooo smoky' or 'smokiest I've ever had' - REALLY? I have not tried a smoked tea before. I personally quite like it. The scent and taste reminded me (a vego) of smoked bacon and smoky paprika (when I first smelled it in store I was amazed at the resemblance). The smoky flavour levels out a little when brewed so isn’t too overpowering (unlike in the scent). However, there is a mild disagreement in my household. Some of my family members have developed distinct apathy towards the scent, claiming (falsely) that it permeates the entire house and makes it reek of smoke. So basically, unless you know you like smoked teas for a fact, try taste this or at least smell it before you purchase it.
This is my morning cuppa of choice! A robust, earthy, smokey delight that gives me the kick I need to get going. And the aroma! Heavenly! A big, deep inhale is part of the bliss! And no ... no milk with that thankyou :-)
I LOVE Really Russian Caravan. It has a really strong smoky smell and flavour that I love! I tend to drink it more in winter, I guess because the smokyness makes me feel warmed. I’m not a BBQ sauce fan, therefore not a Smokey BBQ sauce fan, so I say the flavours are unrelated.
my husband absolutely LOVES this tea!! I also enjoy it as well - anyone trying to find a new cuppa please try this one!! you won’t be disappointed!
This tea has just the right level of smoke. Although I drink it with milk I was surprised to find the astringency was low enough to drink it black. Unfortunately I found this blend lacked the malty flavour that I have found in other Russian Caravan blends and so it is not the hearty brew i was looking for.Aside from that, I found the tea leaves to be of a good size and it nicely packaged. It arrived in good time.
Quality of tea leaves is good. The flavour is difficult to take - like grossly over-smoked Pu Erh. I was forced to add tiny pinches of this tea to other 'unsmoked' teas. If Rissians have ever drank tea this smoky, I will eat my hat.
tastes awful, chemically and way too smokey. first tea from tea 2 that ive been really disappointed with. undrinkable and too putrid to dare give away to my loved ones. das just me tho fr
