I have had a self-contained tea-brewer similar to this in the past. However, I didn't like the extra step of pouring it out and risking scalding myself! This device is much better--just pour your tea in, then the hot water, then once it's brewed lift and place on your mug or pot. No dripping or fear of pouring onto yourself! It's also easy to clean- I just rinse thoroughly, though you can take it apart if you wish.
Really liked this brewer but after a week of use the bottom broke off and now water just flows right through it.
