Born in Durango, Co, Tailwind Nutrition began life with a simple goal: to cover fuel, hydration, and electrolyte needs in a single, mild-tasting drink that won't turn your stomach into a brick or leave you trying to choke down a sticky gel or unwieldy chews during a six-hour epic. The Caffeinated Endurance Fuel pushes that mission a step further, adding 35mg of caffeine per scoop in order to provide a little extra pep to your long-distance step. Despite that addition, it's still as hydration pack and bottle friendly as the original, so you can just rinse your bottle or bladder with no funky aftertaste or smell. Not all stomachs can handle the sticky sweetness or hard-to-digest molecules found in most nutrition products. Sipping Tailwind provides steady, small doses of fuel that pass right through the stomach. The composition of Tailwind’s fuel matches what the gut is made to absorb, so Tailwind enters your system quickly, without taxing the digestive tract. No surprise, then, that it includes only all-natural ingredients and organic flavors, which is part of the reason it mixes crystal clear and tastes light and clean. The result is an easy-drinking solution that eliminates the need to rely on spreadsheets to keep track of your calories, electrolytes, and hydration—just add Tailwind to water and go. Please note that Tailwind Nutrition recommends limiting continuous use of the Caffeinated Endurance Fuel to six hours.

(For Me) Way Too Much Sodium

I purchased a bag of cola flavored Endurance Fuel. It's not a bad product. It mixes exceptionally well, works great for fueling, and the cola flavor is ok (I have not tried other flavors). The problem, for me, is the amount of sodium. I'm somewhat salt-sensitive, so my experience is probably just my own, though I remember seeing a similar comment. If Tailwind had a low-sodium option, I would be the first in line. As it stands now, I'll be searching for other fueling products that don't make me feel like I've been eating salt, seasoned with salt, all day.

I love Tailwind's product line! This is my second season using them for mountain biking. This fuel really provides consistent and solid energy over long endurance rides without any negative effects on my stomach or digestion. I use it for any rides over an hour and have used it up to 6-8 hours in a day. I really like the recovery drink as well. The rice protein seems to digest quickly and effectively. On my travel rides, which typically include two rides a day at 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours each, I like the build back between rides that I get from the recovery drink. The endurance fuel mixes well without being clumpy or too granular, and never clogs my bottles. The taste varieties are on point. I will be doing the 25 Hours of Frog Hollow as a duo for my third time this year and will rely on a consistent stream of Tailwind Endurance, Tailwind Recovery, and some pickles, pasta, and PBJ to keep rolling. Also, customer service has always been top notch!

Cola and Mandarin make a difference in my rides

I have been using Tailwind Recovery Fuel in the Mandarin flavor for a year. It's made a noticeable difference in my cycling. Replacing the minerals and electrolytes I lose has been instrumental in getting my mileage up. I decided to add the cola flavor for an extra energy boost. My last ride was 45.5 miles which is the longest to date since I broke my hip last July. I could feel the difference quickly at the beginning of the ride where I used it. At 63 yrs old every little bit helps. The flavor is good and I like that I didn't get a sugar rush or gut bomb. Those are major plusses!

Comes through again and again

I sent a review via Facebook but it is my pleasure to make an official review. Tailwind is awesome!! I tried some during a trail run with a friend around 4 years ago and found it very effective. During a 100K race in 2021 it was provided by the race as the stock electrolyte and calorie based drink. It was fantastic. Two weeks ago I completed my first 100 mile race and knew I wanted Tailwind as my main fuel and electrolyte source. I got the mandarin flavor with 50 servings. It helped me perform to the best of my training. I have lots of room for improvement as a runner but Tailwind absolutely came through big time! No gut or stomach issues whatsoever! I highly recommend It and urge you to consider trying it. You won’t be disappointed!

Easy on the Guy and Superb Customer Service

Most importantly, at this point, I think at this point I’ve given all the flavors a try and there are none my stomach can’t handle. Some more palatable than others, but none that I can’t drink on a long, hot effort in the mountains. Lemon is my fave, and cola provides a great kick when you start flagging. The real deal-maker here for me though is their customer service. I did the tailwind challenge and it was a foregone conclusion for me that I’d spend the $140 on tailwind, and if it turned out that it didn’t work for me it’d be a real fight to get them to make good ones their offer (to cover my race entry fee if things didn’t pan out). From the initial postcard with a personalized message wishing me luck training to a very thoughtful email on race week wishing me good luck, these folks are exactly the sort of outfit I want to do business with. They appear to be interested in happy customers as much as moving product and that is a company I will stick with for ever.

Energy without muscle cramps
4 June 2023

I used both the endurance fuel and the recovery drink after an extended mountain bike ride. It seemed to do very well and helped me during a hot, very intense ride. I was very pleased with his flavor and digestibility of both products. I liked the single use packets that can be easily added to a water bottle. My only concern is running out of water when the ride is longer than expected. Additionally, I expect it would be easy to carry multiple packets for refueling along the way if a water source was available. I look forward to using both products for upcoming rides in the Moab desert. I hope to avoid the cramping that I have experienced in the past. Thanks for a great product!

It gives me something to look forward to, when choosing which stick packs I want to take. So they make it fun. I also bring TW for hikes, kayaking trips, camping and even when I know I’ll be logging a lot of steps. I brought it to the UK and Ireland, just as a source of calories as I walked many, many steps.Lastly, I also find the combination of calories and electrolytes help when I’m feeling sick. After my second Covid booster I had an awful hangover feeling. Endurance mix made a huge difference. I had Covid while in the UK and drinking some TailWind really helped me feel better. Thanks TW, for enabling my adventures!

Stop the cramps with the Endurance mix
9 July 2023

In the past, I have had major issues with my calf muscles cramping anywhere from 8-12 miles. When I was having trouble during training for a marathon, I found Tailwind Endurance. Since I began using it, my calf muscles have not cramped, and I finished the marathon. I am now training for another marathon and would not think about doing without Tailwind. The flavors are light and I can choose if I want caffeine or not. My favorites are matcha and lemon. I also hope the watermelon/lime becomes a permanent flavor as it is awesome

The TW company does a great job at breaking down how much you should mix based on a number of variables.

my "go to" fuel
20 February 2023

anytime I'm doing runs over 1.5hrs I always use this. I'm an older (55) Clydesdale runner. I burn a lot of calories and consumer a lot of fluids. This fuel has been hands down the best and it's Vegan. It's also perfect for hydration and fuel at the same time - a challenge at times to drink and eat. I mostly use the lime and add a tsp of beet powder. (mix in 2 scoops in a 600ml bottle.) When long races, I pack the individual servings and pour into my bottle right before the aid stations and fill and go. As a side note for those over 50. this is PERFECT for colonoscopy prepping. "it's all you really need"
