Apparently I've released my inner 13yr old again - I'm now 38!Had one of these when they came out first time round. Finally got round to getting a new one. Great toy, building it's still good fun, and I even remembered the mod to stop the battery cover coming off.If you had one of these first time round, get another one. If you've only just found RC modelling, get one. Good fun, good price, great service.

If your looking for a fun and robust RWD RC car then this the one to go for. The performance is great, steering is sharp, and the "hand break turn" is a welcome addition. The model looks great and comes with enough stickers to go totally ott with whatever look you want. The only issue I've found is that on REALLY rough bumpy rocky terrain the battery plate in the bottom can come lose, but it takes a lot of battering to do and is an easy fix.I would highly recommend the Hornet to anyone looking for a fun rough terrain buggy. Also wonderland service is very fast and slick, very impressed :)

Fantastic piece of kit!
4 April 2020

I've found an ideal way to make lockdown enjoyable, by building a R/C Model car with my son! He loves it and it's given us 4 days of fun piecing it together. The service from Wonderland was great as everything arrived really quickly! Looking forward to it's first drive later today!

Ordered this for our son day before Xmas eve as we thought this make a great present me having one in 84 it brought back some fantastic memories. Turned up next day which we thought was excellent being Xmas. Kits great, just as I remember it, could just do with some paint in the kit is the only let down really. Fantastic kit though, great price and fantastic service from these guys.

I bought it for my partner, he knew that it came un-assembled. And I didn't know that I needed to buy everything else that makes it run. maybe in your advertisement put in big red letters (you need to buy the battery and the remote control) at the same time of purchase so that you don't have anyone disappointed.

Robert's review of Tamiya 110 Hornet 2WD Kit
12 January 2023

Pros: Brings back my 80's childhood and have loved building and driving this with my son.Everything seems exactly like I remember down to motors, grease, oil and spanners.Great bit of kit and loads of fun as well as teaching your kids a bit about cars and modelling.Cons: The instructions are the same as the 80's and are a little tricky in a few places but shouldn't cause anyone too much difficulty. My son is only 9 and there's a lot to cut out with a craft knife to get smooth cuts on the plastic so probably best left to someone a bit older. Leaves you wanting to buy more kits - I sense things could be starting to spiral!!

Super Fun Car
2 February 2019

Same here. Back in the 80's I was way into RC off-road cars. I raced them at the local track in Costa Mesa, (R.I.P.) The Hornet was a awesome starter car. Moderately easy to build. Lots of upgrades available. This car is tuff too, especially with better shocks. The chassis used to break most when something did break, however racing it around the streets everything's fine until I used my skateboard quarterpipe and launch ramp as jumps for the cars. They soared! I drove these cars hard. The Hornet was a favorite. It's better than the Grasshopper and a step down from the Frog and not in the same league as Associated RC10 goodies. The Hornet will sting you with RC car addiction. Beware.

Tamiya Hornet has earned its place in R/C history
22 February 2016

The revolutionary 1984 2WD off-road buggy is back and more fun than ever before! The Hornet stands as one of Tamiya's most popular R/C cars ever released, helping launch a 2WD R/C buggy boom worldwide. Featuring excellent performance on both dirt and on-road tracks, this awesome buggy can take on any type of terrain. Just like the original, this re-release features an easy to assemble chassis and drivetrain consisting of a durable but lightweight ABS resin bathtub frame, diff gear loaded sealed gearbox, oil filled rear dampers, powerful RS 540 motor and high performance suspension system. The Hornet is perfect for those that used to have one, those that have always wanted one, and for those that want a revolutionary buggy that has earned its place in R/C history.

The Hornet is a great begineer or around the neighborhood car
10 August 2016

I had one of these when I was 14yo in the 80s. It was my first R/C car. Easy to build and cheap to maintain. If your looking to race or compete with a full suspension machine this is not for you. It is a great neighborhood car that is durable and fun. The rear suspension has low clearance and is a straight axle that will only spin one wheel. You can adjust the pinion for different gearing and change motors out. To wrap it up. This is a fun durable neighborhood car that will teach the beginner how to build adjust and maintain their equipment. It taught me gearing, how to pick the right motor and how to drive a r/c.
