Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD AF Lens for Canon
The Tamron AF18 270mm f/3.5 6.3 Di II VC PZD AF Lens for Nikon is a 15x high power zoom lens designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras using the more compact APS C digital size image sensors. The focal length of this lens is equivalent to approx. 28 419mm in 35mm format. Designed as an ”all in one” lens it will meet almost all photographic opportunities without changing lenses. The addition of PZD Piezo Drive ultrasonic autofocus motor helps make this lens lighter short and slimmer than any previous lens in this category and provides faster quieter auto focusing. The VC Vibration Compensation mechanism allows the use of shutter speeds that are much slower than otherwise possible with no perceptible increase in image blur. It automatically detects movement of the camera and compensates for camera shake when shooting a moving object. This feature is a must in a lens with this longer range of focal length. This lens will focus down to 19.3” 0.49 m throughout the zoom range. This lens is designed exclusively for DSLR cameras with smaller size sensors. It is NOT compatible with 35mm film cameras and DSLR cameras with image sensors larger than 24 x 16mm.

My lens arrived in secure wrapping, held in place with cellophane. It was a delight to unwrap. The lens is in beautiful condition, very responsive, and I have been able to get some good shots of swans and geese flying. I did research the lens, and its compatibility with my camera thoroughly before buying, and recommend this to ensure satisfaction.

Im not an expert photographer but enjoy it as a hobby. I purchased this Tamron 18-270mm PZD lens as a replacement for the standard 18-55mm lens my Nikon d3100 came with and I wasn't disappointed.I researched the internet on reviews and listened to many salespersons opinions in various photography shops and my conclusion was to buy myself one. They retail at around 500 but I purchased mine on Ebay, checking the sellers feedback etc and my winning bid was 352 so I was well pleased.I have used it in the New Forest, which is local to me, taking both distant shots of pineland forest etc and macro close-ups of dewdrops on blades of grass etc. I have used it at my local beach too with some impressive close-ups of waves breaking etc. One shot in particular I had put onto ... The VC is a useful function, and various reviews mentioned using this function would 'eat' the battery life quickly but I haven't found this to be the case, so I generally leave it on all the time. The autofocus is good and fairly quick but I would recommend manual for greater flexability (fore-focus / midrange or distant etc) which is somewhat lost on Auto as it sometimes searches/refocuses again if you accidently half press the shutter again. The lens is noticeably heavier than the standard and I find walking with it round your neck for great lengths of time a bit annoying but I found using a cross the body strap and soft-case a much better arrangement for comfort as the cameras always by your side and the extra weight doesn't even notice carrying it this way. Also when taking photos, as the lens is also longer, I would recommend an external flash as the body of the lens sometimes casts a slight shadow on photos occasionally. An external/top mounted flash bypasses this problem by the height of the flash (this will be my next purchase). The zoom is a little stiff to operate but I find this preferable to being so smooth it makes the lens creep when carried around the neck( you can also use the lens 'lock' button which works well). I recommend a clear filter to protect the lens if you drop it as hopefully you will only have to replace the end filter and not the lens! Finally if your still in any doubt whether to buy this lens, just go for it, you wont be dissapointed, Im not, Im well pleased with it and hope it will last me many years. I hope you have found my review helpful.

Bit of a presumptive review as I’ve had the lens in my hands for about 7 hours, but initial impressions are excellent.CEX Delivery was perfect, arrived 48 hours after ordering, the lens was still in its original box, and other than the remenants of a label on the lens cover the lens itself looked as good as new.Lens is nicely built, the mount felt a bit stiff but better that than a loose fit, the zoom is smooth and focussing is nice and responsive, haven’t tried on AF yet but I primarily use MF.Check on Tamron site if the lens is compatible with your body, I did after a past schoolboy error and this works across all F Stops and shutter speeds.

I LOVE it!! I had considered the Nikon 55-300 and Sigma 18-250 also. This lens looked like the better option. I am so happy I chose this. Taken lots of shots and really impressed! Focuses really quickly (33% faster than my kit lenses), really sharp and was amazed my on-camera flash covers the full frame. I have a Nikon D5200 and it complements it perfectly. It bought a used one which is in like new condition. I also like that it is a weighty lens which matches the camera body's weight really well. I took some shots with on-board flash and was amazed that the flash covered all areas. The VR is great. Took some shots at 1/60th second and they are nice and sharp. The lens creep is crazy from 55mm on, lol!! but I can live with that. AF motor is really quiet.
I am getting back into photography after many years - my last serious camera was a Minolta XE1 35 mm. I purchased a Nikon body but was unhappy with 18-55mm lens that came with it - it wasn't flexible enough to handle general needs of people portraits, candids, and landscapes. I tried a moderately priced Nikon zoom which took excellent pictures but was short to mid telephoto and couldn't take a wide angle shot. I disliked carrying two lenses and switching them. After some research I settled upon the Tamron, which was at a good price point and has both wide angle and moderate telephoto capabilities. I'm happy with the purchase so far. I don;t have to change lenses to get the pictures I want. I was at a party with family and children and was able to get pictures of large groups and candids of individuals without being obtrusive. I was a little concerned about picture quality - it turns out that the pictures look sharp and clear at any magnification. The lens is easy to use and the autofocus is smooth and fast, just pick the focal lens and the lens does the rest. The lens is light and short, making it easy to carry, point and swing - it's MUH lighter than a Nikon zoom lens I had. I've used the Tamron for a couple of months now and have enjoyed it immensely - I will continue touse it as my go to lens and don;t see any reason why I would want another.
I am not a professional photographer, I do not have dozens of other lenses to compare, and I am definitely not anal when it comes to evaluating a lens. This being said, I was looking for a lens with a zoom that started in the 15mm to 18mm range and could zoom better than 250mm. Finding this at a reasonable cost is definitely a challenge. The reality is I will never change lenses when out and about so this was just what I was looking for.Overall the lens feels solid. Not quite as high quality as my Canon 18mm to 55mm kit lens, but still good. As many before me have said, the lens zoom is in the opposite direction of a Canon lens. Also zooming is not entirely smooth, and it's not a champion in low light.I have read there are image shortcoming at either end of the units range. I have not studied this in detail and have not noticed any glaring issues to my untrained eye.Autofocus is almost as quick and almost as silent as my kit lens. Again, not perfect, but good enough for my taste. Only in low light does it tend to hunt for the correct focus, at times unable to find it.While these are shortcomings I would not hesitate to recommend the lens. The ability to get closer to the action and the resulting pictures make it a great lens for me. I love the crisp focus and background blur generated much better than my kit lens.PROS: Long zoom, compact, lightweight, easy to useCONS: Limited low light performance, autofocus has difficult time in low light

The mechanism eventually froze, shearing off the cheap plastic mount that holds the cog that makes zooming all happen. Possessing excellent mechanical and electronic skills, I disassembled the lens, epoxy-and-screw repaired the cog, examining the poor construction of this lens, and the lack of lock-tight on critical screws, which loosened; hey it's not a metal "L", Zeiss, Voigtlander or Leica, right? You get what you pay for. So if you're looking to buy a lens for under $300 and use a lens lightly for a year or two, to deliver blurry zoomed images, before the plastic moving parts crumble, this is it. Otherwise, go for metal, heavy and big - you will probably spend $1100, and get 10 years out of it to deliver razor-sharp images worth printing and winning contests. Summary? Some people don't know the difference between a hotdog and file minon. If that's you, use this lens, or even your cellphone! And please make sure the lens is covered with six months of pocket lint and dust so you have dark, blurry results. I replaced the crapped-out B003 with a new B008 on warranty and will toss it out as well after about 15,000 exposures. Just be warned, this is a disposable lens for disposable memories. I shoot all my award winners using my "L" lenses.
I bought this lens back in 2015, i started my photography hobby and since this lens had a rage from 18 to 270 mm was very good for my birds photography and also my landscape. This investment is the best I have done, lens eventualy broke this year 2024 but was very good investmen.
Lens arrived promptly, clean, well packaged, as described. Great 'day out' lens when not sure what you'll see/capture. You do need to ensure the lock lens slider is activated to stop lens creep and it's a very handy lens for the money. That said, I tried it when unexpectedly saw some surfing on a greyish day and it is way to slow to focus and capture the action but then I'm used to pro sports lenses which leave this for dust. Horses for courses and for the money a decent lens.
so far the photos match those from other lenses. however, it's easier to change a tire than it is to zoom the lens. the lens also rotates in the direction opposite from other lenses. takes getting used to. it also sometimes doesn't connect correctly when replacing the lens after using another lens. you have to try until there is no message telling you the contacts don't match. are those the prices one pays for a zoom of this range?
